What Redditors are Saying

Most Powerful Superheroes in the MCU

TL;DR Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Thor, and Doctor Strange are frequently mentioned as some of the most powerful superheroes in the MCU. Their power levels vary based on context and specific feats.

Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff)

Scarlet Witch is often cited as one of the most powerful characters due to her reality-warping abilities. She has demonstrated significant power by defeating characters like Captain Marvel from alternate universes with ease [5:6]. Wanda's strength was highlighted in "Multiverse of Madness," where she showcased her dominance over other powerful beings [5:4]. Agatha Harkness even stated that the full power of the Scarlet Witch exceeds that of the Sorcerer Supreme [5:8].

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is considered one of the strongest due to her immense energy manipulation and superhuman abilities. While she is high on offense and defense, some argue that Scarlet Witch surpasses her in terms of raw power [5:3]. However, Captain Marvel's resilience and versatility make her a formidable force in the MCU [5:10].

Thor

Thor, the God of Thunder, is renowned for his physical prowess and control over lightning. He ranks high among the powerful heroes due to his durability and combat skills [5]. His ability to wield Mjolnir and Stormbreaker adds to his might, making him a key player in battles against cosmic threats [4:1].

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is known for his mastery of the mystic arts, which allows him to manipulate time and space. He held his own against Thanos, who possessed multiple Infinity Stones, showcasing his strategic use of magic [5:3]. Although he lacks the raw power of others, his magical expertise makes him a critical asset in the MCU [5:5].

Other Powerful Characters

While not strictly superheroes, characters like Dormammu, The Watcher, and Infinity Ultron are mentioned for their immense power [3:1]. These beings operate on a cosmic scale, influencing entire galaxies and dimensions. Additionally, entities like Eternity and Arishem hold significant sway in the universe [4:5], though they are not typically classified as superheroes.

In conclusion, the most powerful superheroes in the MCU are often debated, with Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Thor, and Doctor Strange frequently topping lists due to their unique abilities and feats.

  1. Loki is a God of Time right now right? He could revert and stop time, jump through it as he learned all that stuff. I think that makes him the most powerful.
  2. Wanda had some crazy feats and until it’s proven by feats that she is weaker than the rest she has the silver medal.
  3. Sentry has some amazing feats and I think he has the potential to become stronger than Wanda. But frankly we need to see more feat from the last 4 sentry included (I’m biased toward Sentry because of the movie and comics).

Scarlet Witch is a reality warper not to mention she has an entire prophecy dedicated to her I’m sure she’s more powerful than sentry/void

We don’t really know if her powers are just illusions are reality warping, but if it is the latter, she could theoretically beat Loki.

MCU Death seems kinda weak to me, ngl. Especially when compared to Death in other media. The antrophomorphic representation of Death shouldn't have to ask pretty please to collect a soul.

Call her weak, but in the end all 6 of these characters lose to her. Wanda already has.

Top 10 most powerful MCU characters

Posted by DazedDeoxys · in r/marvelstudios · 3 years ago

So I put together a post of what I think are the top 10 most powerful characters that we've seen on screen so far in the MCU, let me know what you guys think of the list and who would make your top 10.

  1. Surtur w/ Eternal Flame

Surtur is immensely powerful and he demonstrated this by destroying Asgard and Hela who in her own right is immensely powerful.

  1. Odin

Odin in his prime was incredibly powerful and its a shame we didn't get to see more of Odin in him prime on screen. Hell even old man Odin is still a force to he reckoned with. He goes in above Surtur as he was able to stop Surtur from initiating Ragnarock until his death.

  1. Arishem

We've only seen a few Celestials on screen in the MCU (Ego*, Eson, Tiamut and Arishem) Ego is defeated easily enough by the GOTG, we only see a short clip or Eson, Tiamut is stopped from awakening by the Eternals, so Arishem makes the list. Arishem being a Celestial means he pretty much destroys everyone below him on the list with the exception of maybe Kang depending on how powerful Marvel Studios decides to make him.

  1. Dormammu

We've not really seen much of Dormammu on screen either, but that doesn't take away from how powerful he is. Don't forget Doctor Strange never defeated him he just managed to convince him to leave by using the time stone. This dude rules the Dark Dimension which is essentially a universe so Dormammu beats everyone below him on the list rather easily.

  1. Thanos IG

Now we're getting into characters that have the power to destroy universes. We never really seen Thanos use the IG to its potential which kinda keeps him from being higher up on the list. However this guy still wiped half of the life in the universe which is no small feat.

  1. Kang/Immortus

Kang is kinda hard to place on this list. Considering he created the TVA which was using infinity stones as paper weights indicates that he is immensely powerful and should be placed much higher up on this list. However we haven't really seen much of him on screen to indicate how powerful he is so we're kinda left guessing.

Edit After further thought, I've moved Kang from number 8 to number 5. He was powerful enough to weaponize Aliath which was destroying entire worlds, and considering he was controlling entire timelines I think that places him above Thanos on the list.

  1. The Watcher

Was I the only one who was slightly surprised with how powerful the Watcher was portrayed in the MCU? This guy went toe to toe with Infinity Ultron who used the Infinity stones much better than Thanos did which is why he goes above him on this list.

  1. Scarlett Witch

Wanda hasn't really explored the full potential of her powers yet which is what keeps her from topping this list. We know she's a nexus being along with the Watcher, and even though I don't think she beats him right now that could all change after MOM. If she finally masters her full power there's no doubt she's above everyone else on this list.

  1. Strange Supreme

I mean this dude destroyed an entire universe what else is there really to say. We know Wanda's power trumps Doctor Stange's, but I don't think it trumps Strange Supreme's (not yet anyway). We haven't seen Wanda become aware of any cosmic entities as of yet, whereas Strange Supreme's cosmic awareness is so great he is able to perceive The Watcher. He is the most powerful being we've seen on screen in the MCU.... well except for one.

  1. Infinity Ultron

Honestly it was so dope to see Ultron demonstrate what he was really capable of in What If, as I think he was a bit of a disappointment in AOU. I mean this guy decimated Thanos wielding 5 stones, and that was before he even got a full set of stones. Once he did he stated that he was able to wipe out universes with just a thought. It took the combined efforts of The Watcher, Strange Supreme, and the Guardians of the Multiverse just to stop him and if they didn't it is well stated that he would've wiped out the entirety of the multiverse.

Most powerful MCU character discussion!

With "What if" introducing a whole lot of new extremely powerful characters, just wondering what people think are the new top 5 most powerful characters in the mcu (on screen, be it Movies or disney+ shows). For me it would be

  1. Infinity Ultron
  2. The watcher
  3. Dark strange
  4. Thanos with Gauntlet
  5. Scarlet witch wanda/Dormamu

I know my list may well be far off, but just off the top of my head this is what I came up with. I feel I may be short changing Dormammu. But what are you guys thoughts??

Ultron infinite. Galaxy level AP, MFTL, retcon punches, soul, mind, reality and time haxes so ultron is pretty much the most OP char

thanos with the IG. Pretty much the same powers as ultron, just on a less destructive scale

Dormammu. Basically the physical manifestation of dark dimension who casually conquers planets and blows holes through planetoids with his laser breath and also has casual planetoid level TK. Ancient one with power drawn from him could split a timeline

the watcher. Could tank a galaxy level explosion and retcon punches to his face without a scratch.

Scarlet witch. Reality warper with TP. nuff said

Captain marvel. A basic heavy hitter, can be planetary when needed

these are the most powerful mcu characters

Who's the Most Powerful MCU Superhero?

Posted by RoyalCod3 · in r/marvelstudios · 2 years ago

Who do you think is the most powerful MCU superhero and why?

I think it goes down like this: Captain Marvel > Thor > Dr. Strange > Scarlet Witch > Hulk.

From what we've seen, Dr. Starnge and Scarlet Witch are high on offense, but low on defense as they are glass cannon which makes Captain Marvel and Thor more stronger than them.

Dr Strange was able to match Thanos while he held 3 Infinity Stones. Raw power is useless if you can't get a hit in.

So was Iron Man but nobody is realistically listing Iron Man here. Because we all know Thanos wasn't trying with the Infinity Stones.

Dr Strange lost against Thanos's sorceror. Let alone against Thanos himself with the Infinity Stones if he were trying. He's up there still, but he's not actually competing against the stones.

Time traveling Captain America is the most powerful character in the MCU. As Ultron said.. Cap can’t live without a war. Cap doesn’t have to put the stones back first (he was def playing coy with Sam). I’d also point out that the concept of all 6 stones being bonded to mjolnir, similar to how Ronan bonded the power stone to the cosmi-rod, was recently introduced to the comics. In a 2019 comic the Black Winter gives Thor a vision of Thanos in the future wielding mjolnir with all 6 stones bonded to it. If Cap does this he could be omnipresent/omniscient and infinitely powerful. I’d imagine a day in Cap’s life.. he kisses Peggy goodbye at 9am, teleports through spacetime, smashes planets that are threatening future Earth with power stone activated mjolnir, teleports back home at 5pm for dinner with Peggy lol.

The new Thor comics are crazy - did he see Thanos and all the avengers were dead? I have to reread that issue. Thor also kills black winter and galactus so he moved up big time on the list for me

Yeah, he saw them dead.. however I don’t think it’s the actual future, only a possible future. The goal was to send Thor into a binge drinking depression I think. Thor st8 sentences Galactus to death and uses his body as a bomb lol

I think thanos’ army is what makes him as strong as he is.

Also, it’s clear that Wanda got way more powerful after Wandavision (and she almost killed 2014 thanos before) so Wanda right now is definitely stronger than the 2014 thanos.

Thor could also kill thanos. If he simply went for the head thanos would be dead. The fact that thanos was still able to snap wasn’t because of Thor’s lack of strength, it was a miscalculation.

Similar to how dormammu’s miscalculation with dr. Strange doesn’t make him weaker than strange

Yes maybe but Odin could defeat him in 1 v 1 ( he has odinforce also )

Yes she's not fully learned and may become as strong as Odin after some time

> Thor could also kill thanos. If he simply went for the head thanos would be dead. The fact that thanos was still able to snap wasn’t because of Thor’s lack of strength, it was a miscalculation.

No way thor could kill thanos. Thor was in his prime in endgame and thanos even without the gauntlet was easily beating him along with iron man and cap

Rank these Marvel heavy weights?

I was originally just gonna make this a “who’s winning a free for all,” between these characters, so if you’d rather just do that be my guest. I assume it’s a toss up between Abomination and Juggernaut but I genuinely have no clue. Main reason for this post is just the fact I don’t know how these characters match up.

Like obviously Thor, Blue Marvel, Sentry, and Hulk kinda take the cake for the strongest heroes in the Marvel universe, but what about the 2nd string? (Not all heroes, but I’m curious about Jug and Abom too).

So yeah, either way lol. Rank em or just lmk who’s the strongest/weakest outta these guys.

Also I know Juggernaut kinda becomes the strongest thing.. ever, when he starts to get some momentum. But I’m sorta talking baseline strength. If you wanna answer who’s winning the free for all then ofc take that into account, but if you’re just ranking strength Juggernaut doesn’t get that instant win.

Abomination has fallen off the ranks a lot recently and She Hulk lost her Amps. Her amp from the Slott run got retconned when she lost a weight lifting contest to Ben and she dumped off the amp she got from the celestials.

I don't think Abomination has gotten weaker. I think Hulk just climbed too high

In recent run, he fought on par with Immortal Thor who had Odin Force and Zeus Bolt and should be above Odin in power. Hulk strength has skyrocketed in last decade and so much to match the likes of Odin or even Celestial.
