What Redditors are Saying

Who is the Strongest Marvel Character?

TL;DR

  • The One Above All is widely considered the strongest character in the Marvel Universe [1:1][3:2][4:7].
  • Other powerful characters include Franklin Richards, Molecule Man, and Sentry [1:2][2:1].

The One Above All

The One Above All (TOAA) is often cited as the most powerful entity in the Marvel Universe. Described as omnipotent and the creator of everything, TOAA stands above all other cosmic beings and characters [1:1][3:2]. This character is essentially Marvel's version of God and is beyond any measurable power scale [4:7].

Cosmic and Multiversal Entities

Beyond TOAA, there are several cosmic entities with immense power. Characters like Regulator Thanos, Oblivion, Beyonders, Molecule Man, and Living Tribunal are considered to be at a high level of power, often described as "outerversal" [1:3]. These characters operate on a multiversal scale and have abilities that far surpass typical superheroes.

Powerful Mutants and Heroes

Franklin Richards is highlighted as one of the most powerful mutants, possessing reality-warping capabilities [1:2]. Sentry, another highly powerful character, is known for his incredible strength and has been depicted as being able to defeat both Hulk and Thor [3:1]. However, Sentry's mental instability often limits his effectiveness [2:6].

Hulk and Thor

Among the more traditional superheroes, Hulk and Thor are frequently mentioned. Hulk's strength is said to have no limit, as it increases with his anger [4:4]. Thor, especially when empowered by the Odinforce or as Rune King Thor, is also considered one of the strongest heroes, having defeated formidable opponents like Sentry and Hulk in various storylines [2:3][2:11].

Others Mentioned

Characters like Deadpool, while popular, are not generally considered among the strongest, despite his impressive healing factor [2:2][5:4]. Squirrel Girl, although seemingly less serious, has canonically defeated some of Marvel's toughest villains, showcasing her unexpected power [5:3].

In conclusion, while many characters possess significant power within the Marvel Universe, The One Above All remains the ultimate supreme being, with others like Franklin Richards, Molecule Man, and Sentry following behind in terms of raw power and capability.

Excluding Captain Marvel and Thanos (with infinity gauntlet) Who do you think is the most powerful Marvel character in the MCU?

Santa Claus. Omega level mutant. Google it

Franklin Richards is definitively the most powerful mutant.

That said, he still pales in comparison to Oblivion, LT etc and is infinitely (to the power of infinity an infinite number of times) weaker than TOAA.

It's the One Above All, that is an indisputable fact. It is always it, as he is truly omnipotent and the creator of everything.

After that you've got Regulator Thanos. Then comes Oblivon, Beyonders, Molecule Man and Living Tribunal who are pretty much the same sort of power levels, all are outerversal. Scathan and Protege are also at this level is Heart of the Universe Thanos.

You then have the multiversal abstracts, multi eternity, multi death and so on.

After that you have multiversal threats like Franklin Richards, Mad Jim Jaspers etc.

After that you then have the universal abstracts, so Galactus, Eternity, Master Order etc.

Then comes universal threats, so infinity gauntlet Thanos, cosmic cubes etc.

After that you then get the skyfather level beings, so things like Odin, Zeus, Mephisto.

Next comes herald level threats, so Silver Surfer, Nova, Thor etc.

After that I guess you have planetary beings who can destroy a country, so Carol Danvers, Thing etc.

Then I guess you have the city level threats who could destroy a city but nothing really larger, someone like Cyclops.

After that its building level and after that it's just street level I guess, so someone like Daredevil or Elektra.

Rather than tell you factual power, such as GOD status characters, I have two "sleeper" options.

Sue Storm (invisible woman). Can remain invisible while making tiny force-fields in someone's lungs, arteries, brain, throat, or other crucial bodily functions. This will kill basically most of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe.

Kitty Pride (Shadow Cat). She can remain "phased", then proceed to leave things in peoples bodies. What can be done if she puts a wooden chopstick through someone's heart, then just releases the chopstick? Or put a piece of paper through someone's neck, then releases it. Or through an arm, or leg, which would pass through an artery. Would that area be more susceptible to being knocked off the victim, or would it just fall off as the paper dissolves? Either way, physical invulnerability would not save someone from this. And Putting something in, and through Wolverine's heart would not be fixable. The heart would need to be removed. This would also make it possible to bisect through adamantium by creating weak spots, and remove Wolverine's limbs. Then we have a bowling ball, watermelon, balled up aluminum foil the size of a basketball dropped inside someone's head.

These two girls are dangerous.

56 upvotes on reddit
Wade856 · 2 years ago

Kitty could also either phase someone into a solid object or deep in the ground, killing them instantly because they would become fused into that object on a molecular level. Or, she could phase into someone and phase their organs out of their bodies, killing them instantly. How many characters can survive having their heart, lungs, brain, other organs or even their entire skeleton suddenly removed from their bodies?

Kitty Pryde or even Vision may not be the most powerful character, but they most definitely can be the deadliest in all of Marvel.

Deadpool

Examples of Deadpool’s healing factor in action are truly jaw-dropping. He’s survived being crushed by a giant hammer, having his head removed from his body, and even being atomized and then reforming himself. It’s no wonder that he’s considered nearly invincible.

If you’re going for non-cosmic brings (and if you count Phoenix, Molecule Man, and Franklin Richards as cosmic) and we are sticking with heroes only, as the picture might suggest, then it’s the Hulk or Sentry. Characters like Doctor Strange, X-Man, Xavier, Blue Marvel, and Black Bolt would be close behind them, but Hulk and Sentry are both incredibly OP.

Altho if you include reality warpers from the X-Universe, then some of them could jump in the mix as well.

Damn how you gonna ignore Thor considering he’s beaten both Sentry and Hulk? Not to mention that in almost all future stories Thor not only outlasts basically every hero on Earth but he usually ends up super OP either by absorbing the Odinforce (which is in addition to the Thorforce) or by harnessing the Runes to become Rune King Thor.

As perhaps you can now guess, my vote for strongest marvel hero is Thor.

He hasn’t beaten the recent version of the Hulk who took down The One Below All, that iteration is in a different league. And Thor got trounced by Sentry in Siege, so his record there is not unblemished.

I agree that the Odinforce or Rune King versions would definitely be on here, but I kinda lumped those in with the cosmic beings and excluded them. Otherwise it’s not much fun.

It's Thor. I'm always surprised that people want to talk about Sentry and Hulk, when he's mashed them both. I mean, shit, The Reigning Thor with Odinforce straight up one-shot Hulk and Ben Grimm at the the same time.

Sentry really could be in convo for the strongest if he wasn't mentally messed up. He is one of my favorites if not my favorite but he's a mess. Hahaha

so basically Merged sentry? yeah he is undoubtably the strongest as the only true way for him to die is if he himself wishes it so yeah he kinda op, and that fight with knull was wrong, sentry wouldnt have died, the writer admits to just wanting a powerful character to use as fodder and he also admits to not having looked into sentry's character or the void, and he misunderstood the origin of the void which is oblivion, he did not understand that knull cannot control or take the void from sentry, over all that fight was a shit show of not knowing whom sentry/void was as a character or power level wise so we cannot use that as a reference for how weak sentry is, and that brings us back to how sentry can only die one way and that is if he himself wills it to be.

1 upvotes on reddit
TownNecessary6265 · 7 months ago

If you're saying Sentry, then wouldn't that technically make Mallory Gibbs the most powerful? Considering she claimed all of his power.

Indeed. But that is also a good point. Professor X can basically end anyone with a mind. If he can catch them off guard. Example being Magnito without his helmet.

So the same could be said about Professor X being caught off guard. So in a duel at high noon style fight, the professor wins.

The One Above All. The rest depends on writers and what story they want to tell, and that is it. We can provide evidence for 1000 different characters to claim they are the strongest, but this is the truth of the matter.

The usual interpretation is that "One-Above-All" and "The Presence" are just the different multiverse's ways of calling one same entity. As in, Marvel calls them OAA and DC calls them Presence, but they are one and the same, so it's really hard to really gauge how they'd match up

That would be my three. There was a sentry v. blue marvel fight that maybe would lend me to include him too, but unsure. I’d say merged sentry (red outfit) is probably the strongest as his reality manipulation should be under his control and therefor he can increase his strength to any level needed. Plus void broke ALL the Hulks bones, his plus sentry should destroy even hulk completely.

26 upvotes on reddit
O
OtherGeorgeDubya · 1 year ago

I think when it comes to overall power Blue Marvel is in the contention and (to me) above Sentry, but when it comes to raw strength I think Sentry, Hyperion, and Herc have him beat.

1 upvotes on reddit
O
ObberGobb · 1 year ago

I think Thor honestly. He is kind of a jobber so loses a lot of fights (he is the designated "gets beat up by new character to show their strength" guy), but there is actually an in-universe reason for that. Thor, in a normal fight, always holds back even when it might mean he'll lose, to the point that even his closest allies don't know his true strength. Hell, to that point that even he doesn't know his true strength.

While characters like Hercules, Sentry, etc. are still on his level while not holding back (Thor has no reason to hold back against Hercules since he is immortal too, and his fight with Sentry was stated to be both of them going all out), he has also shown some truly absurd feats where he taps into deeper powers than he was capable of even in the aforementioned fights where he wasn't consciously holding back.

203 upvotes on reddit
Z
zarathustranu · 1 year ago

Thor would definitely be in the conversation, especially in the last 10 years when he's often had the Odinforce and even briefly had the Power Cosmic.

I'd probably still put Sentry and Blue Marvel above Thor in terms of pure physical strength, but it's splitting hairs. They're clearly all written as the top tier, "Class 100" characters in the Marvel universe. I'd have Hercules, She Hulk, Red Hulk, etc. just under them.

43 upvotes on reddit
Z
zarathustranu · 1 year ago

I'd have Hercules a notch below Thor, Sentry, and Blue Marvel.

Back in the Heroes Reborn / Heroes Return era (post-Onslaught), when savage Hulk was wandering the earth, he and Hercules had an extended fight in a one-shot issue. Hercules got WORKED. Beaten within an inch of his life.

While Hulk has beaten Thor and Sentry, it is always a close affair. I admit it's tricky because Thor and Sentry have other powers beyond physical strength, unlike Hercules, but I still put them just slightly above Herc. Particularly in Thor's Odinforce era.

Old Drax, due to the Power Gem, was probably the strongest non-cosmic entity.

Besides him, the strongest might be Thanos. I remember him fighting Thor, Hulk, The Thing, and Hercules at the same time, and he seemed like he was winning easily

Powerhouse Drax! I'm probably in the minority, but I preferred that version of the character, Power Gem included.

And I agree, he was INCREDIBLY strong. Far above base Hulk, but not above World War Hulk.

153 upvotes on reddit
Lymnandres · 1 year ago

No way to know for certain, as he could only access the infinite abilities of the Power Gem at the most basic level, and the Green Scar is an absolute powerhouse, but it would have been a great match for sure.

Adam said that he would always get as strong as needed as long as he had the Gem, but his storage method was less than safe (albeit incredibly funny for child me) and could quite possibly be lost in a fight.

They’re street level under either definition. Most of their conflicts aren’t large in scope and scale and they’re peak human/mildly superhuman.

I feel like none of these guys are street level? Spider man and venom certainly aren't. And the rest are maybe street-ish level in terms of feats but in reality are famous enough that they kinda just aren't.

Who is the strongest Marvel character

Key Considerations for Determining the Strongest Marvel Character:

  1. Power Levels: Strength can be measured in various ways, including physical strength, cosmic abilities, and magical powers. Different characters excel in different areas.

  2. Context of Strength: Some characters may be stronger in specific situations or environments (e.g., Hulk gets stronger the angrier he becomes).

  3. Multiverse Variations: Marvel has multiple universes, and characters can have different power levels across these realities.

  4. Character Development: Strength can evolve over time due to story arcs, character growth, or new abilities being introduced.

Top Contenders for the Title of Strongest Marvel Character:

  • The One Above All: Often considered the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe, representing the creator of all existence.

  • The Living Tribunal: A cosmic entity that maintains balance in the multiverse, possessing immense power.

  • Hulk: Known for his incredible physical strength, which increases with his rage. He has been depicted as one of the strongest beings in various storylines.

  • Thor: As a god and wielder of Mjolnir, Thor possesses immense strength and magical abilities.

  • Sentry: With powers comparable to Superman, Sentry has superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to manipulate light and dark.

  • Franklin Richards: A mutant with reality-warping abilities, he can create universes and is considered one of the most powerful beings.

Recommendation: If you're looking for a character that embodies raw strength, the Hulk is a classic choice. However, for cosmic-level power, The One Above All is the ultimate answer, as it represents the pinnacle of strength and existence in the Marvel Universe.
