Balancing Party Levels
Keeping your party members at similar levels can be challenging, especially since the protagonist, Makoto, is often a few levels ahead due to being a constant in battles. One strategy is to focus on leveling Makoto and then use the great clock to level up other characters quickly [1:3]. Another approach is to accept that party members will generally be slightly lower in level than Makoto and concentrate on maintaining an even level among them
[1:2],
[1:4].
EXP Boosts and Accessories
Using accessories and items that boost experience points (EXP) can help level up characters more efficiently. There are EXP boosting items available for purchase, which can be used strategically to enhance leveling [1:5]. Additionally, during shuffle time, there is an arcana card that provides larger EXP bonuses to the lowest-level party member, which can help balance out disparities
[1:1].
Grinding Techniques
Grinding remains a necessary part of leveling in Persona 3. However, it can be optimized by focusing on areas with high XP yields. For instance, targeting rare shadows or utilizing fortune readings can make grinding sessions more productive [1]. Ensuring that your personas have skills like Growth 3 can also accelerate the process, as these skills allow personas to gain EXP even when not actively used in battle
[3:1].
Game Mechanics and Strategy
Understanding the game's mechanics can also aid in efficient leveling. In some games, such as Persona 4 Golden, adjusting difficulty settings to increase EXP gains can significantly reduce the time spent grinding [3:2]. While this specific feature may not apply directly to Persona 3 Reload, exploring all game options and strategies can provide similar benefits.
General Tips
By implementing these strategies, you can maintain a balanced team and make the leveling process in Persona 3: Reload more efficient and enjoyable.
I’m currently 7 days before the next Full Moon (I think it was September?) and Makoto is lvl 43, so I think I’m good when it comes to him. My issue is keeping the rest up to his level. They’re all lvl 40, with the exception of Aigis and Junpei since I used the great clock on them. But I had to do quite a lot of grinding to get the rest just to 40.
Are there any easier ways to get them to level quick or is it just a grind to get a fortune reading for rare shadows, grind until the SP are gone and rinse and repeat?
It's not really worth it in my opinion. Because you have to cycle your teammates so often to keep them at an even level with each other, you just have to accept that they'll be a couple levels below the MC since he's the only constant. The only way I can think to fix this is to use the expensive XP boosting items from the club
Only grind mc and then use the clock thing to insta level everyone else
Fuuka and Makoto are the only ones able to participate in every fight since they're mandatory and can't be swapped out. You will have to accept that they'll always be a little bit ahead of everyone else.
Instead, you can just shift your focus on keeping all the others at an even level.
You can buy EXP up items in the club
There are accessories you can get that help. There’s also an arcana card in shuffle time that will give larger exp to the lowest level member in your party.
As long as they are within a few levels of Makoto then I wouldn’t bother.
It's way easier and faster to level up your characters to Z rank if your account is already Z rank, you will reach it in a few hours, but doing it with your account being D or C rank it will take a longer time to level up your characters rank as well. It's the same thing for S rank and any rank. As long as the overall rank(and points) of your account is a lot higher than your characters ranks and points they will gain points faster.
I'm not sure but I think the greater the gap is between your characters rank and your account, the faster your characters will gain their points. (I'm not sure about that)
But I'm 100% sure that the more points your account have, the more points your characters will gain per wins to reach the exact same number of points you got on your account rank. I just don't know it it stays like that the whole process or if the amount of points you win get lower the more close you get from reaching your account points.
Do characters rank up separately from the account?
Yes, for exemple if the amount of points that you have on your character is higher than the amount of points your account have, your character will not gain any points at all, he will be stuck at +0 even if you win with him, it will stay like that until your account reached the same number of points you got with the character you're playing with.
The higher your account rank is, the higher the number of points your character will gain per wins to catch up with the same exact number of points you have on your account overall. Each character can't have more points than your account overall, that's how they made it.
Dont think that's true....
I am D1 and have 20+characters maxed rank and only play casual online single matches.
If you receive no points for low rank in characters then I would never get anyone past 3 stars.
That also means you’re fighting S & Z ranks so you still have to work for your wins

Damn I suspected this was the case but I had no idea it was that easy 😭
I got an end game persona and it used a social link I didnt even know existed and would be really keen to have a certain skill on it. Oh yeah and a lvl 100 Izanagi would be cool. How do people do it?
I think most with the high levels were at least on the second playthrough, you can change the exp you get in the difficulty to "more" and it's a big jump.
Other than that it is prob just grinding and going for level up cards in shuffle time
Just try to put Growth 3 or at least Growth 2 in your Persona (with luck you could upgrade it to Growth 3 in Shuffle time). Then just grind , Magatsu Inaba is a good place because the Glorious Hands that spawn in groups there. Always try to have a Persona that could defeat those hands with mind charge and has some nice almighty attack or Yoshitsune with hassou tobi, the point is to do the most damage in the less time possible to prevent them to escape ....then keep grinding
Gonna second the recommendation of Magatsu Inaba, since grinding is really the only option, and it's a much better XP:time ratio than even the final dungeon, especially if you can get Growth 3 Skill Cards from Marie.
buddy you need to fuse demons a lot, you don't need a level 100 Izanagi. You can exchange moves from other personas.
I just grinded for hours on end, over, and over, and over, and over, so on and so forth, etc.
Marking this as spoiler just incase. Just cleared the fire Crystal (and beat the FF Version of a Kirby monster).
A couple of jobs have hit level 9, but I became a little disheartened to see that they jump to 3500 JP to level up.
Do you usually push through? Or do you just start leveling up your other jobs regardless of whether or not you think you really want to use them? I see that JP has scaled (unlike BD2, where it doesn’t) so I was thinking about saving going past 9 for next chapter and beyond.
I actually grinded out JP Up on all my characters in chapter 2, it just depends on if there's a skill I want.
Swap jobs. The game has the massive JP spike to kind of soft cap job levels. It's the game's way of forcing you to switch up your team without actively forcing it since the amount of JP needed to get from 9 to 10 could have gotten you two more jobs to 9. As for what to swap with, probably something that synergizes well with what you're swapping off of. For example if you were a Spell Fencer swap to something like Ranger or Pirate to add elemental damage to your physical DPS, or if swapping from White Mage consider Performer or Salve Maker to add utility and buffs to your healer.
Generally, I get a handful of jobs to level 9 per character. Not huge amounts but around 3-5 at least I'd say. Having a lot of level 9 jobs gives you a whole lot more choices for job and subjob combos, as well as passives, going forwards - which is great for if you get stuck on a boss. it also let's you experiment with more jobs and that might help you decide which jobs you most want to push up in level once JP gains improve.
In Chapter 4, JP increases a decent amount and it starts becoming viable to push for level 10 and above, or you can continue pushing up a few more jobs to level 9 if you prefer (particularly the new jobs you get in chapter 4). Chapter 5 they increase again and it becomes quite easy to level to 10 and beyond.
This.
I'm on chapter 3 at the moment and have roughly 3-4 jobs per character at level 9. Some of them are level 10 (I think my spellfencer is actually level 11 at this point lol), but I used them quite heavily during story dungeons or keeping certain attackers around for easy battles while I leveled jobs on others - stuff like that, so I wasn't consciously leveling them or anything.
It’s a soft cap to encourage you to use other jobs if you haven’t already. Don’t be disheartened, you’ll be earning 999 JP per farming fight in no time and blasting through those levels.
The game is telling you it’s time to swap jobs.
I don’t know whether to think I’m early game or mid game considering how the game continues it’s story but my main four are currently between level 24 and 31. It took a good chunk of time just to get them there. Is there a better way of leveling up? I know the obvious answer is just to go fight a bunch of enemies and just level up through that but surely there is a way. Cause if I continue like this, I think I’m gonna go insane. For context none of my characters have chapter 3 or beyond for their own stories. I may also just be really stupid.
You don't need to grind in Octopath until the very end of the game. Just use the same party for every mission only switching in the character you need for it. You will be overleveled by the end.
Even then grinding level for post game is pretty minimal. JP just kinda gets maxed pretty quick and levels are no where near as important as gear.
As a general rule of thumb, if you play without evasive maneuvers, you can just go straight through all the chapters without stopping. You don't need to grind at all so long as you keep your gear up to date, as your gear increases your power more than your levels do, and the way the XP gains are designed makes it so that if you're underleveled in a zone and you're surviving, you won't be underleveled for long.
If you play with evasive maneuvers, you'll want to do side content, meaning quests and optional dungeons.
So gear is a little more important than actual levels?
'a little more' ...no.
IT IS MASSIVELY MORE IMPORTANT. Basically the only situation where level matters are certain level locked path actions for a handful of character specific npcs (throne being an example)
Yes, it's generally more important. In the early game, gear will be responsible for a little more than half of the stats you are going to find important, such as PAttack. An early game example is going from level 10 to 20, you'll gain about 30ish points in PAttack. Upgrading from the Iron Sword to the Silver Sword (an upgrade that is about appropriate for that level range) will also grant you 30 more PAttack, so you're doubling your attack gains by upgrading your weapon, and upgrading the rest of your gear can boost it even higher.
This gets more extreme as you gain levels. By the time you're level 45, which is about when people are fighting the optional end game superboss, your PAttack will be at about 200 or so, and the weapons you'll be equipping will grant you between 300 and 400 alone, and the rest of your gear can get you all the way to the 999 PAttack cap for that fight. Your level is only responsible for about one fifth of it, in this case.
This is true for magic users too with their rods, relics, and gear being responsible for even a little bit more than a physical attacker.
It's why if you do the "two full teams" method of play, where you finish one full team's stories without switching, why the game is so easy for the second team, as they have end-game gear for all their early chapters, and it's just a complete cakewalk for them.
Why do you have a “main” team to begin with?
It was just the characters I picked up earlier and they were higher level. I planned on leveling them up once I have an idea of how to gain XP of it better.
Dont forget to steal evrything with Throne thats how you will have almost the best gear. You have some skill to help you xp too, with Throne Life in the Shadows and with Osvald Extra Experience.
Later you can do the caits and octopuffs farm with some items use to have a better spawn for this ennemy.
Which 4 are you using and what sub jobs ?
Agnea - warrior (also main character). Partitio - thief. Castti - no sub job. Throné - hunter. I know it’s probably a fucked lineup.
I made agnea a scholar, cassti should be a cleric but otherwise lineup seems fine
So, considering I've seen questions about Boss Rematch Scaling just about every other day on here, I figured after spending way too much time refighting bosses I would write a post with the hope that it would benefit the average player who has questions about it. (My findings are based on my NG+3 data, which is levelled to hit all of Lies of P's soft caps in every stat and my NG Level 94 Motivity Build)
Before I get into the scaling of each Boss Rematch Level, three things:
Boss Rematch Levels:
Level 1: Pretty much practice mode. With my Level 94 data, I had a huge margin of error when it came to most bosses (except for bosses in 0verture, but even they allowed for a decent amount of mistakes before risking losing). A NG endgame level build is more than enough for this level and a high level character is pretty much guaranteed to win. This level is really useful for learning boss movesets without the risk of getting wiped out by a combo or being one shotted
Level 2: Feels pretty comparable to the base game's Legendary Stalker difficulty. You will want to have a character that has cleared the game and a weapon that is either maxed out or close to maxed out. But generally feels really balanced with my Level 94 Motivity Build and didn't feel overly demanding.
Level 3: This difficulty level is hard to quantify. With a character that has cleared NG (Level 80-100), bosses will still feel pretty challenging and you'll have to be on your toes. It feels like it has NG+ in mind or at the very least, you should have an endgame build to clear it. My Level 94 character could beat Laxasia at this level although it wasn't necessarily easy. So, generally speaking, having a NG+ character and Phase 6 P-Organ upgrades should make Level 3 feel more manageable.
Level 4: With this difficulty, I'd definitely recommend having a character that has all 7 P-Organ Stages unlocked. It definitely feels on par with NG+2 or NG+3. With my NG+3 data, this difficulty feels really good because while bosses have much larger health pools and hit considerably harder, I also had the best defensive parts possible and Phase 6 and 7 P-Organ Upgrades like Perfect Guard Weapon Durability Recovery, Fury Attack Guard, Perfect Guard No Stamina, Complete recovery of Guard Regain upon guarding a Fury Attack and a 5th Amulet Slot, so the odds feel balanced. They hit hard and so can I. If you're looking for a good time with a "overlevelled, OP" character where you still feel like there are some stakes, this is a pretty nice difficulty.
Level 5: Honestly, this is 100% Lies of P's max difficulty and is akin to max NG+ difficulty. Everything hits like a truck and even a high level character with all 7 P-Organ Stages will still find this level really challenging. You've got to either play to the best of your abilities or have a pretty flawless strategy in place because that is genuinely what it's going to take. Every boss becomes a final boss level threat and really the only way through Level 5 is mastering a boss's moveset.
TLDR:
Level 1= Practice Mode
Level 2= More or less NG Legendary Stalker Mode
Level 3= NG+ scaling
Level 4= P-Organ Stage 7 Character at a high level with an optimized set-up.
Level 5= P Must Die Mode (but those badges are totally worth it)
So I'm in a weird state and I appreciate this data dump.
I'm in ng++ trying for all 3 endings in a single playthrough. I have nearly all (except advanced) over or at 60. Near level like 300? I think maybe higher, to break up the monotony of plowing through the main game again I've decided to dive into the boss rematches and ooo boy. I've got the first two down and they already felt like such a challenge.
Should I wait till I have my +2 frame? I think it's the 350 which is fairly late game.
Life amulet+1 and Iron wall+1 are a must, those will make a bigger difference than like the 4% the endgame frame gives. You could always get better liners from chapter 10 though.
Level 300 sounds about right for a NG+2 data, assuming you never stopped leveling. That's roughly where I was at.
I think you should be pretty fine with a LADA 350 Frame +1. The difference between it and the +2 is roughly 4% damage negation, which you could always make up for with the Iron Wall or Iron Wall +1 Amulet.
Been working my way through the difficulties and have cleared level 5 for all base game bosses as well as Markiona (working on the Overseer right now).
Nameless Puppet level 5 was pretty much only doable for me by pulling out every trick in the book and using shock and acid throwables. They really make a big difference, especially if you committed the P-Organ upgrades for buffing their damage.
Scared shitless for level 5 Arlecchino without Lea backup but I'll figure something out.
Oh, yeah. Definitely agreed on pulling out all the stops with Level 5. Throwables remain a god-sent. Especially the Shot Put if your weapon of choice has a slow charged heavy and you can't find an opening on a faster boss.
The only Level 5 badges I'm missing are Simon (because I really don't want it), the DLC's Chapter 2 boss and the final boss of the DLC (whose 1st phase I'm really comfortable with now, but that doesn't make him any less of a menace).
No problem!
I just figured it would be helpful for someone because I remember when Boss Rematch dropped, I immediately tried Scrapped Watchman at Level 3 and was like, "Oh my God, why does he hit so hard?"
Ha, I just finished my first run through and gave the parade master a poke at difficulty 3. That was a wake up call for sure!
I've finally worked my way to having all the badges using a P-Organ Stage 7 character Monad's Rose Sword and the Perfect Guard grindstone for most of them. The setup is so strong it's borderline cheese, and I still struggled on a good few of them. It's not just that everyone and everything hits like a freight train, the bosses also have such huge health pools.
The notable exception I felt to this was the Black Rabbit Brotherhood. Even on level 5 I didn't feel the Eldest had that much health, and neither did his younger siblings. Those 2 fights were the easiest of the level 5 rematches to me.
>It's not just that everyone and everything hits like a freight train, the bosses also have such huge health pools.
That's a very fair point. Some fights can really feel like a war of attrition at Level 5.
Yeah for level 5 at least 3 damage boosting boss amulets are must.
Thank you for taking the time to write this up.
I haven't cleared everyone at level 5 yet. Parade Master through BRB, and Arlecchino. I have Parade Master, Murphy, and Arlecchino on my bag. I call it the Mustache Club.
My NG+5 and level 5 BRB fights I've found it helpful to get rid of the youngest. After she leaves I was able to take down the oldest with little interference from the other two.
I feel you on the Youngest. She's a real gnat compared to the other siblings.
As for myself, I still have Simon (who I don't really know if I want his badge that bad), Overseer and the Blood Artist.
Arlecchino is definitely the most fun of the ones I have left.
I haven’t played in forever and I picked it up again so my friends aren’t disappointed lol, but anyway. I’m trying to get to level 10 to have an easier time defeating space boyfriend and I was curious what’s the best way to grind? Also is there a way to level up someone specifically? I’m at level 8 with all of them (but hero who is at 7) but Omori and Kel both have hearts at 71 while Hero is at 80 and Aubrey at 91.
Edit: I just realized I had hero and Aubrey equipped with charms lol, but still ya know how do I get more xp
At that point the best way to grind is to fight a lot of monsters in the junkyard
Fr I just completed it in a whim and a prayer and it worked, literally the most stress I’ve been in in a while
Are you unda da wata yet?
What? Like the part of the map under the vast forest? If so no, how do I get there.
You’ll get there. Just play and enjoy for now. You shouldn’t need to grind yet.
Don’t skip areas like Orange Oasis. It’s not the most lore relevant place but it’s got fun stuff and it’s a chance to face new enemies and grind xp. Also, don’t run from battles unless you need to. Keep fighting the enemies in an area until they’re no longer a challenge.
I did all of that and I haven’t died once yet, beat every boss in one try including Humphrey. (Currently in Black Space)
Hey man I’m not that far in the game, I did defeat him though and actually defeated sweetheart today as well. She did take a while tho…
Oh I’m so sorry, I was just naming places and got thoughtless about it. For some reason I think I saw the high levels and assumed you had gotten further.
Luckily, I don’t think you should have any idea of what these places will throw at you from just the names alone. Best of luck going forward 🙏
Hiya just need some advice on how to level up my characters quicker and I don’t fully understand how the ranking system works - which characters should I look to get from the shop? Thank you 🙏
Ah okay great thanks ! How does the ranking system work? Do they have to be the same character to be able to level them - I’ve been using auto ranking up until now but I worry that’s not the best way to do it ? :)
It takes 3 of the same blue characters (rare) to get them to rare plus.
3 rare plus (blue with gold outline)characters of the same faction (the emblem in the bottom right corner) to upgrade to elite (purple).
2 of the same elite characters to get to elite plus(purple with gold outline).
3 elite plus in the same faction to upgrade to exceptional (pink).
It goes way on up but that is as far as I have gotten.
There is no quick way, there is only the grind.
Save gems for dossiers, and spend bule dossiers on characters you are building.
Only buy when you have enough dossiers or DNA to buy out the store, never trust in luck.
Money
😭I was worried that wud be the verdict
💰💰💰
That's the neat part - you don't.
Its an idle game. You get xp and money over time
As for the shop, right now the only extra-rare purples available are shapesmith and Cecil. Robot is pretty strong, so he's usually a priority
But at your level, pretty much anything helps. No need to be picky
"Here my friends, nutritious xp" - lvl 99 Makoto spamming Armageddon in Monad
Good way to get to level 50 by the Priestess shadow
Also a fun way to see what maxed out base personas look like.
interesting fact on that, Persona stats do not change on metamorphosis.
Well in your case it would be a NG ++++++++++++.
Well, I have 6 p3ps and 5 p3fes lol
It still amaze me that you have play P3 so many times. Not like I'm anyone to talk since I played P5 like 7 times or something in the past but still, you must really like P3 (and Yukari of course) to have played it so many times. And both versions even.
absolute madlad
I love P3's tutorial. Just because it doesn't drag on forever (AHEM P5)
12 playthroughs in and it does get old lol
At least it isn't 2 and a half hours long, even on NG+. That shit really makes me not want to replay 5 ever.
Gotta hang out with my Unicorn until the compendium unlocks.
I spam Orpheus until then
OK so my original plan was to get most of my characters to EPIC+ 5STARS, but I feel I need a second opinion on character progression. How would you go about it? Are there certain characters I should focus solely on? What level should I stop and move to another? Thanks in advance
WoW you managed to get x2 invincible at 5 star

Persona 3: Reload character leveling guide
Key Considerations for Leveling Characters in Persona 3: Reload
Understanding Social Links: Building Social Links (SLs) with characters is crucial as they enhance the experience gained from battles. Prioritize maxing out SLs to unlock powerful Personas and gain additional benefits.
Combat Experience: Engage in battles regularly to level up your characters. Focus on exploiting enemy weaknesses to gain extra turns and maximize experience points (XP).
Balanced Party Composition: Ensure your party has a mix of physical and magical attackers, as well as support characters. This balance allows you to tackle various enemy types effectively.
Utilizing Personas: Fuse Personas to create stronger ones that match your characters' strengths. Leveling up your Personas also contributes to your overall character growth.
Daily Activities: Spend time on daily activities like studying, working part-time, or participating in school events to increase your character's stats, which indirectly affects combat performance.
Dungeon Exploration: Regularly explore Tartarus and complete quests to gain additional experience and rewards. Make sure to revisit earlier floors to grind if necessary.
Recommendations:
Focus on Key Characters: Prioritize leveling characters that complement your playstyle. For example, if you prefer physical attacks, level up characters like Akihiko or Mitsuru.
Use the Right Equipment: Equip characters with weapons and armor that enhance their strengths. This can significantly impact their performance in battles.
Plan Your Days: Balance your time between leveling characters, building Social Links, and exploring dungeons to ensure a well-rounded progression.
By following these strategies, you'll be able to effectively level up your characters and enhance your overall gameplay experience in Persona 3: Reload.
