Los Angeles offers several picturesque locations perfect for a romantic date night. The Griffith Observatory provides stunning views of the city and is a popular spot for watching the sunset [2:1]
[5:10]. The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens offer a serene environment with beautiful gardens and art collections
[2:1]
[5:7]. For those who enjoy beach settings, El Matador State Beach in Malibu is known for its scenic beauty and is ideal for a romantic walk
[2:1].
Unique Dining Experiences
For a memorable dining experience, consider Cafe Santorini in Pasadena, which offers patio seating around sunset [3:5]. Union in Old Town Pasadena is another favorite, known for its romantic ambiance and live music
[3:6]. If you're looking for something different, the Alice Waters restaurant at the Hammer Museum provides atmospheric outdoor dining in a museum courtyard
[1:2].
Fun Activities
If you prefer activities over dining, there are several options to explore. Renting a Duffy boat in Marina del Rey can be a fun way to spend an evening on the water, allowing you to bring your own drinks and enjoy the company of friends [3:3]. Mini golf is a classic date activity that appeals to all ages and provides a lighthearted atmosphere
[5:8]. For a unique experience, consider taking a salsa class followed by dancing at a club
[3:1].
Cultural and Leisure Options
Los Angeles has plenty of cultural venues that make for interesting date nights. The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Little Tokyo offers intriguing exhibitions and is surrounded by numerous dining options [3:7]. A visit to the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena can be paired with dinner in Old Town Pasadena
[3:4]. Additionally, exploring the LA Zoo or the Natural History Museum can provide a fun and educational outing
[2:1].
These suggestions cater to a variety of interests and budgets, ensuring a memorable date night in Los Angeles.
Can anyone recommend some cool ideas for my husband birthday coming up. What are good restaurants or fun things to do Beverly Hills, Culver City, downtown, idk something new and cool any ideas ?
People sometimes overlook the Alice Waters restaurant at the Hammer Museum. The food is great and the dining outside in the museum courtyard is very atmospheric.

Does anyone have some date night ideas that isn’t revolved around food or restaurants / bars? Romantic ideas would be awesome. Thank you! We are located in Los Angeles and can be anywhere in LA

Griffith Observatory
El Matador State Beach in Malibu
Thank you!!!!
Preferably unique/different (pls no touristy options)!
Drive to Hermosa Beach, have dinner, walk along the Strand to Manhattan Beach, walk out on the piers, watch the sunset, look at all the styles of houses and decide which ones you like best.
Grab a hot chocolate and take advantage of any light displays that have gone up, like at the LA Zoo
They may have stopped it already but the night market at Yamashiro, has the best view of LA at night
Picnic at the Hollywood bowl
Movie in the park with food trucks
Kenneth Hahn state park near culver. Good views of DTLA and space to walk around.
Or Burton Chace park in the marina. Good spot to post up for a picnic and watch the boats pass by.
Bonus for the Marina… Renting a Duffy boat is pretty cheap (~$200 for 2 hours) so if things progress and you want to Marshall y’all’s friends you can fit up to 12 and ride around the marina! And it’s BYOB. Ton of fun.
Drive out to Pasadena to the Norton Simon museum. Then have a meal at any of the cool spots in old town.
I recommend getting a patio reservation to Cafe Santorini around sunset.
Union is old town is one of my favorite restaurants. You can also go to Maestro, they have live music outside in the alley. Took my gf there a few weeks ago. Good was 8/10 buy environment and ambience was super romantic and fun. Drinks are 10/10.
I live near old town and I’m spoiled for choice when eating out. There are also a lot of restaurants that are in the adjacent area that are fun but can be easier to park at than old town. Or go for excellent Asian food in the sgv. Pretty much any cuisine you could want. Window shop after if you do old town and end the night with ice cream from wanderlust and some friendly competition at the neon retro arcade.
Huntington library in Pasadena is great too
The Geffen apparently has a new exhibition that's interesting. Plus it's in little Tokyo so lots of food options.
Also, don’t count out some touristy stuff, sometimes it’s fun for those who live in LA to play tourist, my friends and I went on the Dearly Departed tour. I had no idea a slew of interesting locations (houses from Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, where Hugh Grant got arrested, murders, etc) was within a mile radius of my place, which was fun to relay when people came to visit me.
And also - great date spot :)
Might be my fav art museum in LA county and we have a lot lol
The Getty
Griffith Observatory
Lake Balboa
A lot of hookah lounges
Take a salsa class SoHo dance is pretty good and then go hit a club to embarrass y’all’s selves
Context: Only been out here since the beginning of COVID
Visiting from Ohio, looking for cute spots for date night for my partner and I. We do have a rental car but would like to stay fairly close (30 min max).
Dinner/lunch spots are fine and any activities your average visitor might not know about
East LA. Tacos, sopes, tostadas, birria, etc but I doubt you’ll be in east la lol
Nicks cafe for breakfast is bomb.
“East LA” can mean different things to different people. What area specifically are you referring to? Most Ohioans don’t end up in the actual area called East LA unless they made a mistake…
Try downtown arts district bar called 88, coo drinks, retro arcade style, food trucks, good vibes
I’m kind of new to this whole dating thing and could use some help. Preferably anything from $-$$ in cost or preferably free. $$$ for a special date.
Thank you in advance! :)
I'd personally recommend the beaches in the South Bay (Manhattan, Hermosa) for a more pleasant ambiance than Santa Monica for a date (or in general).
Beach picnics can be affordable and fun! There is plenty of room on the beaches by Santa Monica for safe social distancing.
Huntington Library, for the price of 2 tickets to the movies, you can chill all day in a utopian setting.
I was thinking about this. Is it good with covid? I know some things are closed in the gardens.
the main gallery with "Boy Blue" is open and so the "Made In LA" exhibit. Unfortunately the Conservatory is closed but for the most part seemed mostly open.
I recall the admission being over $30 per person for a non-member. Might have even been 40. Did they lower it since 1.5 years ago? LA County Arboretum is way cheaper if OP is looking for something less expensive
Watching the sunset from The Observatory. It’s free and absolutely beautiful. The bottom parking lot is free and walking up takes about 10-15 minutes. The top parking lot is $15
I’ve never been to the observatory and the website says they’re closed. Can you still go and just hang out on the grounds?
So the physical building has been closed because of the pandemic :( but the park itself is open to the public and you can go and hangout there. I did it a few times during the pandemic (just make sure you practice social distancing and wear your mask :D)
Mini Golf.
It doesn't matter if you're in High School or 40 and dating. Everyone loves mini golf.
Where is there mini golf?
All over La. Though my local one is Castle Park in Van Nuys.
Need a fun bar for 25-30 year olds! Any suggestions?
Fia Restaurant in Santa Monica is one of my favorites.
Culver’s city has some cool spots too. I like Piccalilli there.
Perch in DTLA is also nice.
Some of these can be on the expensive side but good for an occasion.
Perch is a fun bar for sure! Pass on the restaurant/food for the price and service though
Fia is so expensive! I would not take someone there on a first date. What if the date doesn’t go well and you’ve spent so much on them! I agree that Fia is delicious though
Piccalilli is one of the best restaurants in LA! Great date spot!
This is only a summertime thing but First Fridays at the Natural History Museum. Live bands, drinks, DJs, wandering the museum in the evening all makes for a fantastic first date.
The Getty and LACMA have similar. :-)
Just eat before bc the food lines are ridic, and among the most overpriced things. Lots of options in the area, and then you can walk over thru expo park to the musuem.
Normandie Club in ktown is very nice
Only if you know them, never go to a museum for a blind or internet date. They will be harder to avoid if they smell like urine and hang all over you.
I work at Tony’s in Redondo Beach it such a beautiful location and we are right on the water we have live music amazing food and cheap drinks!!
tony’s fucking rocks. me and my lady love a good sunset and mai tai. love going on monday nights. we have a cabinet full of tony’s glasses 😀
All day baby! I’ll be there soon! Hopefully be a good night with good people always brings a smile to my face and the night goes by quicker
I’m looking for a nice, quiet, and cozy spot in LA to take my girlfriend out for Valentine’s Day. We’re both college students, so my budget is really tight. I’m already getting her flowers and a gift, so I just need a place for a sweet, romantic dinner (or even lunch).
It doesn’t have to be fancy—just somewhere with a nice ambiance where we can enjoy a meal without breaking the bank. Any hidden gems or underrated spots you’d recommend? Bonus points if it’s not too crowded and has a cozy, intimate vibe.
The best plan at any income bracket is to cook at home on V day. The restaurant experience is awful: crowded, prefixed menus, and short time limits so they can seat more tables. Go out to that romantic spot the next day for a way better experience.
i'm going on the 13th
This! V-day is a shit show at restaurants.
Why did you wait till now to plan? Seems like it's going to be too late and you won't find anywhere to go. These are things that you should plan farther in advance. Sorry if this is not helpful answer.
we're going out on 13th not 14th
eataly is nice, cheap and very cute.
lol
Try the sushi conveyor belt place called Kura sushi! It's a fun experience and affordable, very memorable and feels like you can take your time and people watch (and watch your food slowly move towards you if no one yoinks it away!). There are several locations of Kura sushi in LA.
Anywhere is welcome!
Cecconis West Hollywood
Free museums like the Getty's, Griffith Observatory, California Science Center, or just hiking.
I love Escala in Ktown. Daily happy hour 4-7 with drinks and small bites for under $6.
Chili’s then applebees for $1 margs to finish
I like your style
A walk on Manhattan Beach Pier
Free, COVID-friendly, and it can be a 20 minute thing or a 2 hour thing depending on the chemistry.
Hi! I’m a Uc San Diego student but will meet a girl in LA soon! We’re planning on hitting up a museum but I’m not really sure where to go after that. Would love to read your suggestions. Maybe something casual but fun and outdoors would be cool. Thanks! <3
Smorgasborg LA, kayaking at UCLA Marina Del Rey center, Grand Central Market, Cat Cafe Lounge, Santa Monica Pier, Last Bookstore, The Grove, Third Street Promenade, Sawtelle, Perch (rooftop bar) or Broken Bottle/Shaker if you can’t get reservations at Perch
Omg, have you been to the Cat Cafe Lounge? I’ve always wanted to go!!
The getty!! (unless that’s what you already plan on, then great!)
the getty villa is really pretty, a bunch of nice places there to take photos together/eachother too :)
Melrose Trading Post is really fun on Sundays. Theres some nice parks in the area and honestly UCLA campus is really pretty and empty during the summer. If you haven't picked a museum yet, the Getty Center is really fun and has an outdoor section that overlooks LA. The only thing is a lot of the big museums require you to book tickets in advance
And no museums on Monday, I had to learn that the hard way
Why not?
The Last Book Store is really nice
Hey guys, I've been visiting for a few months and have been seeing this girl. Tonight is my last night in LA for a while so I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on ways to go all out for our "last date"? Thank you!
https://www.datethecity.com/ has some cool ideas
Go to Trader Joe’s, grab a blanket, get some good food and have a little picnic by the beach or the park. Easy and meaningful if she into that sort of thing. ♂️
Awww, I love this. This would be perfect, so intimate.
fire pit at Dockweiler + this idea.
This is a great idea, thank you!
Remember to bring sunscreen, water, and something warm, because it can be cool near the beach. Have fun you two!!
What area would you prefer?
Here are a few I like for date night, but they might be out of your area:
Cliff's Edge - In Silverlake. The whole restaurant has a cool tree house vibe to it.
Black Rabbit Rose - You don't need to attend a magic show to get dinner. The Thai food comes from next door, but the awesome drinks and speakeasy vibe really sells the place.
Yamashiro - Next to the Magic Castle, it offers amazing views of the city. A great last look at LA before you take off.
I hope this helps.
Oh wow, I'll check this out. Thanks so much!
+1 for Black Rabbit Rose. One time one of the magicians went table to table and did some up close magic then asked for tips. Haven't had that happen again, but it was an amazing experience. Our German friends we were with went from to
Definitely stay in for the night instead

Order food/ or cook...
Watch a movie.
And then get busy
Had a date come over to my place for some homemade pasta and to watch 3:10 to Yuma. We watched about 30 min of the movie .
Unsuccessfully tried to watch the movie again the next morning.
11 Years later we're married and I've never seen 3:10 to Yuma.
71 above is a really good restaurant at the top of the US bank building downtown. You can see everything from up there.
