Is Stardew Valley Multiplayer Cross-Platform?

Have there been any mentions for cross platform multiplayer for stardew valley. I was quite surprised when I found out it didn't have it considering stardew has a big playerbase(as far as I'm aware). Is it going to be added some point soon or is it not, and if not has it been said why?

The game is developed by a single individual. I don't think he's ever said why it won't be added, but I imagine he probably doesn't want to expend the time and resources to add that as a feature. And he is currently working on other new games/likely there won't be many major updates to Stardew after the upcoming one.

Oh, that's fair though. Hopefully there will be a point in the future where that's possible but it sounds like that won't be for a while, I guess I can only dream. Thank you for telling me though.

Really, to be fair I don't play many multiplayer games, and stardew is the only one that isn't cross platform that I have. Still, is there any particular reason why many games don't have crossplay?

My sister has been talking about maybe getting Stardew, I have Stardew on the switch. I was wondering if it’s possible to do multiplayer when she doesn’t have a switch.

Her options are mobile or her PC. I’m thinking it’s likely not but if it IS we’d like her to get the better version for that ^^

Unfortunately I don't think ConcernedApe has expressed it as a strong possibility citing a lot of technical complications.

Of course it's never off the table, but likely not going to happen in the near future (but maybe I'll have to eat my words)

Crossplatform multiplayer (e.g., PS4 ↔ PC) isn't supported, except between PC versions (e.g., Windows ↔ macOS).

I recently got my gf addicted to stardew valley. Our current setup is, she's on PS4 and I'm in mobile. Every time i try to join, it says "connection failed". I understand that stardew is crossplay now, but does it work between console and mobile?

I was wondering about this the other time. I did a quick search and it says cross-platform isn't possible because mutiplayer isn't supported on mobile.

My boyfriend and I just switched to playing it on Steam.

I've been playing Stardew Valley for a while and I love it. Recently, I told my girlfriend about the game and she showed interest in playing with me.

She's thinking of buying the game from the App Store (ios), and I play it on Steam (PC).
We don't share the same network.

Can we play co-op together?

Yeah, there’s very good co-op support and there’s literally a farm option with 4 different houses and areas with different perks. Can confirm since I started playing with my little sister recently.

You’ll need to start a new save, it should be the farm option at the very bottom (as in the right tab). Though if you want to invite friends to a pre-existing farm, you can buy new houses from Robin’s for 100g, no materials required (provided you have adequate space). Or just build more beds if you have the space and don’t wanna build more houses.

I did get it to work. I was hosting on PC to a long distance friend. If you still need help this is what I did.

If you have a router, you need to add port forwarding to 24642.

Get your IP from https://whatismyipaddress.com/ and give that to the person on mobile. I made the mistake of giving my device/pc IP and that never worked.

Generally, cross-platform is not possible. I think Mobile has some beta functionality that's a bit wonky to set up but for the simplest co-op play you need to be on the same platform. In this case, both on PC since you already have it on PC.
