Overview of Rare Items
Stardew Valley is known for its plethora of items, some of which are considered rare due to their difficulty to obtain or unique properties. Key rare items include the Prismatic Shard, Dino Egg, Ostrich Egg, Garbage Hat, Living Hat, Magic Rock Candy, Iridium Krobus Statue, various secret statues, arcade machines, and the elusive Tea Set [1:1]. These items often require specific conditions or luck to acquire, making them highly sought after by players.
Prismatic Shard and Galaxy Weapons
The Prismatic Shard is one of the most coveted items in Stardew Valley due to its versatility and rarity. It can be used to obtain the Galaxy Sword at the three pillars in the desert, which then unlocks the ability to purchase other galaxy weapons like the Galaxy Hammer and Dagger from the Adventurer's Guild [4:1]. The shard can be found through mining iridium nodes, geodes, or as a drop from certain monsters.
Artifact Pieces and Crafting
Artifact pieces are another category of rare items that players often seek out. While they aren't extremely rare, finding all the necessary pieces to complete artifact recipes can be challenging [2:2]. Players typically find these pieces by digging up spots indicated by worms or through other exploration methods. For those interested in crafting, there are comprehensive guides available that list every crafting recipe and how to unlock them
[3].
Village Houses and Biomes
Some players have noted rare occurrences of specific village houses appearing in preset seeds [5:1]. While opinions vary on their rarity, these houses are part of the game's random generation system, which can lead to unique biomes and structures appearing less frequently than others. This randomness contributes to the game's replayability and the excitement of discovering new elements in each playthrough.
Recommendations for Collectors
For collectors seeking rare items, it's beneficial to focus on activities that increase the chances of encountering these items, such as mining in higher-level areas, completing quests, and exploring different biomes. Engaging with community resources and guides can also provide insights into optimizing gameplay strategies to acquire rare items more efficiently.
I’m not really new to Stardew, I’ve been playing it for a few years. I’m still learning things every time I play, but I keep seeing the posts about rare items, and I need to know what items I should be looking for!
I don’t have encyclopaedic knowledge on this but here are some ones that I’ve heard of!
These are the ones I know 😊 good luck!
I want the tea set! I have gotten the ostrich egg and I love having ostriches!
I would add the Mushroom Cap as well
I bought the Artifact table, I’ve dug up recipes (have 6 or 7 I think), but finding the materials to make those recipes? So far I’ve only found four! They seem very rare.
I’m assuming the only way is to dig up spots? Also, while my dog occasionally ‘buries’ in the dirt that I can then dig up, this also seems to be very rare.
They shouldn't be that rare, but they're not exactly common. Just keep digging, you'll get more soon!
Good to know! I’ll keep digging.
Where do you get the artifact table from and what reputation do you have to be?? I can’t find it for the life of me
In the shop where you find Woody? I think that’s the sawmill
Hello all! I just finished putting together a list of every crafting recipe, what's needed to craft it, and how to unlock it for those struggling to figure out what they're missing. :)
Of course, there's spoilers if you're looking to figure it out yourself.
I posted all the photos (they're neatly hand written and scanned in via phone and printer, my computer died on me sorry I couldn't type it out) to a throwaway deviant account.
Here's the link for those interested: https://www.deviantart.com/stardewvalleyhelp
I hope it helps ❤
This is great thank you!!
You're welcome :)
Amazing, thank you for doing this!!
Deviantart accout*
i might use that for my new farm i'm planing to do
And i got 3 prismatic shards from iridium ores and rabbit foot from green flying thing in one run... And one question, is there only Galaxy sword or there is multiple galaxy items that i can get with those shards?
Once you get the galaxy sword from the three pillars, it unlocks the buying it as well as the galaxy hammer and dagger from the adventurers guild.
I’ve noticed in my years of playing I’ve only seen the first house once in a preset seed and the second one two times. Are they really rare? And what other village buildings are rare? Any biome counts
If they’re real I’ve never even seen them lol
the 2nd one is definitely real, there's one in the village ive currently taken over in my new world
1 one is 100% real, it's in the village i live in right now
Never seen
What no way I always get them dam! Me lucky
Pretty rare
i’ve seen both a lot so i don’t really think they are unless i have OP luck for seeds
So, I've been playing SDV for around 2 years now, and I have encountered more than once rare events. Here's a list of the rare events i've encountered throughout my time playing;

— Crop Fairy Event. More than twice on my first save. I didn't know it was rare.
— Owl Statue. Just got it on my Co-op save with my sister. Thought it was because of unlocking an achievement or something.
— Shipping screen Animations, UFO, Moon. More than twice again, on my first saves. Didn't know either what it was.
— Meteorite. Just got it on my last save (Spring Y1), got it before on one of my longest save.
EDIT: Got the Owl Statue again, (literally 2 seconds after posting this.) Currently questioning my actual luck ability, am I becoming Komaeda Nagito?
I know this events aren't triggered by In-Game luck, so why the hell do I keep seeing them triggering on my games? One of my first times playing I used to see the Crop Fairy and it literally seemed that she came almost daily, so I thought it was common until I started reading the SDV Wiki.

Is there any reason why I keep getting rare events on my game files? Or is it that I'm just a really damn lucky person??
They're rare but not, like, impossibly rare. The Stone Owl event used to be incredibly rare because of a bug in the code, I believe, but that was fixed with the 1.5 update.
The meteorite and the crop fairy have a 1% chance of spawning every day, or one in every hundred days. That said, the event only happens if certain criteria are met - the more empty space you have on your farm, the more likely you'll get the meteorite event, and the more crops you have, the more likely the crop fairy event will go through.
Can I trade my 3 stone owls for Dwarf Scroll 3?
lmao, "i give you my 2 meteroites for 9 rare seeds".
I get the UFO pretty often and have never understood why it is/was considered "rare." I think I stay on the shipping screen longer than most people or something.
I've gotten the crop fairy, santa, and a meteorite, all in my first year. There are random percentage chances I believe.
You see Santa every Winter 24.
oh really? I guess i never payed attention. I'll edit the post.
I know of a couple, I don’t need a list but it would be nice, or, if you know any items I missed please comment, so far I’ve got:
Golden Lewis Statue, Stone Junimo, Quest items (Robins Lost Axe for example), Secret Notes and their items, ??Foroguemon??, ??HMTGF??, ??Pinky Lemon??, Statue of Perfection, Statue of True Perfection, Items from Fishing Presents, Arcade games, Void Ghost Pendant (when you’re married), Museum Rewards, Mermaid Pendant (when you’re married), Stardew Hero Trophy/ Soda Machine, Legendary Fish (the normal ones not the ones from Qi’s Quest), Unique Clothing items (like the hats from Festivals), Strange Capsule, Junimo Plush
Hi there! I marked this post as a spoiler per subreddit rule 6. Please remember to mark spoilers in the future:
> These count as spoilers: heart events, story quests, secret notes, the community upgrade, > non-obvious plot and NPC backstory, and game secrets. If you're not sure, it's better to mark > as spoiler or ask.
Some items (not all though) from fishing presents you can actually get twice, I’ve gotten the Gourmand Frog statutes from the Pirate’s Cove twice
You can get a painting out of the little water fall in front of the spa over and over again.
Hats from festivals are actually sold by the hat mouse once you've gotten them. So you can get them again if you trashed them for some reason.
I have 800 plus hours on SD and I’ve never seen a tea set!? What the heck.
It’s a pretty rare gift given to you at the Feast of the Winter Star, so only 1 chance per year to get it.
Also, not every gift giver actually has a chance of giving you the Tea Set in the first place.
It’s completely possible to go like 7 years in the same save file and never get a single gift giver who can even give you the tea set in the first place.
This is out there and I keep getting mead?!?!
Okay but I got a second set and trashed it because I had no clue and I already had one on my winter dining table 😭
I have a game where I’m 15+ years and I didn’t even know this was a thing!?
I have one on a save file that has been mostly abandoned in favor of my Meadowlands 🥲
That’s pretty crazy, theres also someone trying to get 999 of every item and im sure this one is going to take the longest
You can buy Tea sets in 1.6 from the traveling cart after year 25. They're 1 million each, so a billion in total to buy all 999. It's still going to take a while to get all the money, but it will be a lot easier to stack them than it used to be.
Wait, are YOU the guy? Or are there multiple of you??
Have you tried activating multiple characters at a time to give you larger chance of tea set gifts from villagers?
Are they doing single-player, or are they running multiple characters at once to maximize the chance of getting the tea set as a gift at Feast of the Winter Star?
Was hoping someone would post this! XD
1,600 hours playing SDV, and I've never acquired one. Enjoy the decoration!
This is for all of you late-gamers out there… this post is literally asking for spoilers
So, we all know as members of this sub that TIL (today I learned) moments happen every day. I’m always amazed at how I’ve been playing this game for so long and still learn new things!
I’d love to see a list of all of the really rare, weird, cool uncommon things you didn’t know about and wouldn’t think to search the wiki for.
For example, I’m at 78% perfection on year 6 and just found out that you can >!fish for an iridium krobus statue at the bottom of the forest near the sewer with a 15-tile cast.!< Not the most exciting thing, but something I wouldn’t have found out about if I didn’t see it mentioned in a random forum about a completely different topic.
What mysteries of the valley have you unearthed?
You can change the color of Junimos! I thought this was so cool, and they turn rainbow if you put a prismatic shard in their hut!
Aaaaaand I learn a new thing about the wiki lol- thanks!!! Though I still would like to hear the voice of the people!
I gotta say i didn't know about the plaques thing until I read the wiki and it's such a cool detail
Sometimes in the ocean a green sea monster will appear and swim away. It's probably the rarest event in the game.
What do I do with my rare disc? Does it have any functions or should I donate to the museum? I’m genuinely concerned I might lose sum lol
i have one on display in my house. i made Emily a room full of gems and artifacts and arranged them by color
That sounds awesome
Ohh damn
I think you can use that and two other things to make a farm computer thingy Demetrius talks about
Only artifact required for the farm computer is a dwarf gadget. You can find more than one disc, so there's always the possibility to donate one and make clothes with any others found.
