Scavenger Hunts and Puzzles
Stardew Valley offers a variety of scavenger hunts and puzzles that players can engage in. One user organized a scavenger hunt with clues like "Candles light my bow though I was never meant to sail," which challenged participants to think creatively [1:1]. Another player designed an escape room-style game, starting with puzzles involving empty chests and a single fence, requiring players to solve riddles to progress
[2].
Golden Walnuts Collection
Collecting golden walnuts on Ginger Island is a popular treasure hunt activity. Players have shared strategies for finding these elusive items, such as completing puzzles, playing games at Pirate Cove, and digging around the island [3]. It's possible to collect up to 122 walnuts without solving the mermaid puzzle, as only 5 are obtained from it
[4:4].
Accessing Pirate Cove
The pirate cove can be accessed once the resort area is unlocked, without needing to complete the mermaid puzzle [4:2]. The pirates appear in the cove cave after 8pm on even-numbered days when it's not raining, allowing players to play the dart game and fish
[4:3].
Completing 100% Achievements
Achieving 100% completion in Stardew Valley often involves finding all golden walnuts, cooking recipes, and crafting items. Some players struggled with collecting certain walnuts or completing specific tasks, such as the crystal mini-game or artifact troves [5:3]
[5:5]. Others focused on building relationships with NPCs or acquiring expensive items like the golden clock

Recommendations for Treasure Hunts
For those interested in organizing their own treasure hunts or escape rooms in Stardew Valley, consider creating riddles that incorporate elements of the game's environment and lore. Engaging players with creative challenges and rewarding them with unique prizes can enhance the experience. Additionally, using guides and community resources can help ensure you don't miss any hidden treasures or achievements.
Once again, thank you so much to everyone that participated, it made me so happy to see everyone enjoy my little contest <3
Some fun facts and my thoughts about the scavenger hunt!
Ahh finally! I was so desperate for the answers. Original of 6 clue is so cool, i didnt think about that thing but its so obvious. 1 clue was the hardest for me and the funny part is that i wanted to change my answer to that "prairy shrine place" when it was already too late... but in the end it was the wind paths 😅
Yeah! Haha of course it's always easier to make the riddles when you start with the answer, not so much the other way 😄
Edit: also clue 1 had the added difficulty because the word "light" was refering to the lamps and feathers were just the jars full of feathers lol 😅
So these strange things in jars was a feathers??? I was wondering whats that for so long 😂
I was really looking forward to seeing what the original screenshots were and I love seeing what others did! I see a lot of places I also considered, and I love that we all thought of the mysterious Valley bird! Thank you so much for doing this, I had an amazing time searching the realms! ❤️
Honestly i gave up when i started that😅 My locations weren’t that close lol, but i’m happy to see the result!
Will u be doing another giveaway for 2nd part of the season? I hope so:"
I'll be honest, i didnt even know it was going to be two seasons 😅 but to answer your question, it will probably depend on whats going on irl around the time the second one starts, usually the second half of the year is pretty busy for me so I might not have time for it.
So I guess I finished my Stardew game for my boyfriend. It starts as an escape room out of the house I designed for him. After that he needs to solve puzzles, has to find his way through mazes and stuff like this!
If you have any questions or even more ideas, tell me about them!
Anyone can answer the first puzzle shown in the first three pictures? The chests in front of the doors (second picture) are empty. The chest next to the sign in the first picture contains a single fence. He doesn't have any tool or item on him when he starts.
I would take the blue chest, because the door to this one doesn’t exist in the third picture.
Helped the Pirates Wife Planted for the frog. Played Simon in the cave Solved the mermaid puzzle Got 301 all three times at Pirate Cove and found one extra by a barrel. Solved Bird Gem Puzzle Completed museum Dug up one next to digging site on the stairs. Dug up one where Leo stands Fished out several.
Down to one now. I think it's that tricky one through the path in the trees but I can't see anything! wish I hadn't thrown my glow ring away.
Besides the frog there are several you get for growing crops in general.
I think I have all those too. Planted over much of the Island farm. Got them after harvest.
What about chests and breaking rocks in the Volcano dungeon? I found a few that way. Also, did you put a banana on the shrine near Leo's house?
Done and done. Would anyone mind posting the full url of a video that helps with this? I'm on my phone right now.
Lucked out and got the last one without a glow ring. Thanks everyone.
There’s some you can buy if I remember correctly in Mr Qi’s shop. Or you can ask the parrot in Leo’s hut where the rest are.
I must have found around 76-80 golden walnuts after having unlocked the farm and resort on Ginger island. I’m also almost finished with collecting all the fossil pieces. But I found out I’ll need to craft flute panel thingies for the mermaid puzzle, and I’m nowhere near Robin’s 6 heart event to get the recipe yet. I also think I can’t get to rest of the pirate cove without doing this puzzle?
tldr; is it still mathematically possible (and practical) to get 100 golden walnuts in other ways to enter Qi’s walnut room? Or should I take a break and start revamping my efforts to be friends with Robin first?
I also think I can’t get to rest of the pirate cove without doing this puzzle?
Once you unlock the resort area you have full access to pirate cove. Completing the mermaid puzzle isn't required to access anything so you can still play the dart game and dig up the other walnuts in that area.
Oooh how though?? I’ve walked all over the area and can’t find any hidden entrances to find the darts game. I’ve got the golden walnut from the starfish tidepool and dug up another next to it and thought it was a dead end after that 🤔
The pirates are only in the cove cave after 8pm on even numbered days when it's not raining. The dart game is only available while the pirates are in the cave but you can enter and go fishing at any time.
The entrance to the cave is the wooden boardwalk path by the other wood debris on the right side of the cove. Basically where the person is standing in this image.
Yes, easily. You can get 122 (I believe) without doing the puzzle.
You only get 5 from the puzzle and 3 from the darts game. All the other ones you can already collect.
oh fantastic, thank you!
It was the golden walnuts for me! Specifically the ones from the crystal mini game.
I’m having trouble with the golden walnuts too! I’m missing 3 and for the life of me I just can’t figure out how to get them. Read the wiki and watched a bunch of videos and I thought I’d got them all (everything on the map and from the scrolls, harvesting, fishing, mining, etc). I’m pulling my hair out!!!
P.s. it was the same with my last save file, there must be something I’m missing but I just can ’t figure out what 🙄
Oh yeah I had to use the wiki guide to find them! So embarrassing when they’re in the most obvious places lol!
I couldn't afford the golden egg after buying that bloody clock. I spent every gold I had on it. That was after months of saving.
I’ve been grinding for the clock for what feels like ages, I have a shit ton of ancient fruit growing in the greenhouse and on ginger island and a shit ton of casks and I can’t seem to get there. 😭 at 3 mil and losing hope. It’s the last thing I need.
At least with the artifact troves it much much easier to get those final ones than it was a couple years ago. I had the museum fully completed on my last run in summer year 2 and it wasn't even like I was really trying hard to get them either.
For me it was the cooking recipes, simply because it interested me less than the other metrics. I liked the farming, money making, and getting as far as possible in the mines and skull cavern.
Similar, I think the last one I did was crafting recipes. I just wasn't interested in 20 different floorings or in the recipes for the different kinds of lamps you get from Robin.
Same! I'm a hoarder and was going through all my chests and my fridges like what can I sell that wouldn't ruin any other game play. That clock was my Everest.
Ten hearts with Pierre. He was my least favorite NPC and I only gave him birthday gifts before needing to get 100%.
Got the golden clock and expected to get it the next day. But didn't.
Went to perfection checker. It says.... I'm missing a stardrop? I'm sure I got them all.
Just in case I somehow missed the one that needs a Sweet Gem Berry, I pickaxe a starfruit in the greenhouse, Hyper Speedgro the soil, and plant a rare seed.
Then start checking the rest. Did I just inexplicably forget to open the chest that has one in the mine? Nope. Did I somehow... fail to open a letter that had one? The museum mails it, right?
Wait. Do they? Or do you have to pick up that reward?
Go to the museum. Collect rewards. A stardrop has been sitting there waiting for me for almost a year.
Oh noo ! Lol that’s awesome, you must have felt some great relief finding it!!
Anyone who says treasure hunting is easy… clearly hasn’t tried to grab a legendary relic from the darkest corners of Dreamlight Valley! 🏺💀💪
Sweaty palms, shaky knees, and a lion that woke up at exactly the wrong moment... This isn’t just a dreamsnap—it’s the moment you realize you don’t even want the treasure anymore, you just want to survive! 😅🧭
(My original idea was to be Indiana Jones, but these outfit combinations didn't fit at all. Anyway, I'm satisfied.)
I love this so much. I hope I get to vote for it.
Oh, shame on me, but to me it's as if he really, really LOVE that object and is trying to express it physically. If you know you know.😬😬😬😬 But otherwise it's very nice. ☺️☺️☺️
This is hilarious. 🤣😂🤣 🥲 thank you. ☺️
Fantastic composition! Love your use of the spiderwebs!
It definitely gives me Indiana Jones vibes. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw this.
I would like to thank the devs for giving us this treasure hunting event. It gave me the motivation to clean up my trash heap of a valley. 😄
I generally like it too. It has given me an excuse to spend more time in the valley. I’ve been spending most of my in game time in EI lately so it’s a nice change of pace. Only thing I find slightly annoying is having to re place pathing it removes with the blockers.
I am not feeling the reward and the only reason I am going to do it is to complete the memory
Same. I don't do Touch of Magic designing, but at least my valley is now clean haha.
Ugh I hope I have enough days to finish this, life has definitely been in the way. I just want to play
My question is, they say that they’ll be giving us “generic memories to fill up our collection” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???
Watch this be the way they give us those permanently missing memories like that one from EI’s Dreamlight Valley collection or the two that don’t exist from Aurora’s Journals…
It's gonna be the regular memories like the ones that we can get from the memory orbs from the tasks.
Given the format is entirely "go do a bunch of things that get you large amounts of basic resources" my theory is that something requiring a lot of wood, clay, sand, etc is coming with the inside out update, and this is really a way of giving everyone a head start.
Ohhhh.. it's possible.
I love Stardew Valley, and have played it for an obscene number of hours, but almost always find myself quitting at the end of year 2 or beginning of year 3 once I've reached level 10 in everything, have upgraded my property buildings to the extent that it's possible, and have tonnes of gold sitting around. You spend so long getting to those upper ability levels, and they give you pretty amazing abilities, but by the time you get them there's almost nothing left to try to get that you can use them on. How long do your games usually last? I see some people posting that they're in Year 4, Year 6, etc, and I wonder what you're doing to keep yourself interested. Do you just play a lot more slowly so that you're still working your way through the game challenges at that point?
i wish there was another major update or even a mod that added much harder challenges that are only possible once you're at level 10 foraging/fighting/etc. You can always go down into the skull caverns, but once you've done that a few times and have lots of iridium (and especially once Grandpa gives you the statue), there's no real reason to do so.
I play through rather slowly. My favorite thing about the game is how relaxing it can be, so speeding through is not me. But I'm in year 5 and I've got a lot left to accomplish. I hope I can keep playing this save file indefinitely.
Buy statues of endless fortunes, many of them, build an entire crystalarium farm, catch every fish, get golden clock, decorate house, finish museum, etc etc. theres tons to do if you look for it and im on year 10.
I feel like they put the evaluation in as an appeasement to those that need a goal, while the game does allow for freedom up to that point I never really felt free until year 3 after it.
Even then, it's VERY forgiving. There have been plenty of Harvest Moon games with stricter time limits than that.
Well apparently there are still a ton of secrets out there so that could keep you busy.
I just reached year 5 and I still feel like there's stuff to do. I've been working on achievements and gifting all the npcs. I've also been working on my farm layout.
Also, there's an update out on Wednesday (unless you're on console) that will add more stuff.
After fighting the mini boss dino at Lance's outpost location, I received an enhanced treasure chest and a golden key. Anyone know what the key is for?
I've kept it on me in case I come across any locked doors but so far unsuccessfully managed to locate any.
Any clues would be much appreciated!
Rescue someone. In a cave. Down a narrow crevice in a mineral filled dungeon. The entity rescued will be grateful, find another home and sell stuff your farmer does not want.
Can you elaborate on the second half of that? I’ve >!freed the person!< but have not noticed anything else.
When your farmer next goes back to the Highlands, there will be a cut scene in which they will walk over to a small cave overlooking the river. The entity rescued will be there and have stuff to sell and if your farmer is into a certain type of decorating, they might be interested in buying. Why go back to the Highlands after you have collected the seed? Two valuable fish.
You weren’t kidding with “sell stuff your farmer does not want” I like to think I just rescued him out of sympathy LOL
With your help, I found the keys purpose! Again, thank you kind stranger for your wise words of wisdom
Aah thank you. I thought I'd explored that cave thoroughly but obviously not enough. Thanks so much for the hint!
I just unlocked the Highlands today and didn't realize I already defeated the boss when I got to the cave LMAO
hey!! i hope you’re all well, i’m so excited to play this game. if anyone has any links to big lists of tips or knows a few themselves, please comment them below <3
When you find a Dino egg or a prismatic shard, keep them! They are rare and you'll need them.
Just have fun and explore, and do what you feel like in the game. You literally can't miss out on anything, there's no time limits to do anything. The fun part for me is just figuring stuff out as you go.
ahhhh i’m so excited ! thankyou :)
Oh and with finding these rare things, make sure you consult your tv fortune teller and make sure that you’ve got good luck on your side. It make a huge difference
I've been working on this ultimate guide! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mwGDB_ti7gPuOInqREnj8E-icgCEX_IC02g4TOs2TPQ/edit?usp=sharing
It's still a work in progress, and there may be some minor spoilers in there based on the nature of the document, but you and anyone else are welcome to use it. Click File in the top left and then click Make a Copy or Add to Drive and that should add it to your drive and allow you to edit it.
My biggest tip is that the Wiki is your friend. Happy farming!!!
Pay attention to what you need to restore the community center! You may not want to wait another year for a seasonal item!
Keep at least 2 of everything you grow or find. Ideally hoard everything you can, everything has a use
Making friends does slow down your progres in other areas but worth it.
Don’t push yourself too hard.
Fishing isn’t easy to start with but it makes good money when you get the hang of it.
Get a silo before a coop/barn.
Download/save a chart of what everyone likes. There are heaps of visual ones if you google them.
Put a chest in the mines, on Willy’s dock and anywhere that you might fish that isn’t in the walking path of a NPC. Having to stop because of a backpack issue sucks.
Have fun :)
