Togashi is amazing. Look at Morena for example. We know she's one of the baddies, sure, but antagonist? To whom exactly? Kurapika may be aware of the hei-ly's existence so he may see her as an antagonist due to being an ally to the 4th prince, unaware that she has turned against him. To Nasubi? Yeah but fuck Nasubi lol. Only thing close to a protagonist right now that she stands against is Nobunaga's trio but their main objective is Hisoka, hunting down the hei-ly is more of an annoying obligatory quest for them.

I think it's FAR too early to put Morena in TOP 5 antagonists.

Time might prove you right… but it also might prove you wrong.

Now I don't doubt Togashi as a writer. But it's entirely possible that Morena ends up as a disappointing antagonist (or just has a less significant role than we all initially predicted).

(Heck, for similar reasons it may be too early to place Paristan that low. He could end up blowing his already stellar performance in The Chairman Election Arc right out of the water!)

I compared him to Boucheron in an earlier thread, and I still think he's probably the best point of comparison, but Lapis is also good to throw in there, so let's see how they stack up in Diamant's joining chapter. By this point, the player will have two master seals, and it's likely one will have already been used, since there are better choices for a first promotion than any of these three, so I'm going to assume Alcryst wasn't promoted last chapter and one is still available. I'll assume all three units being compared are IL 11, since that's Diamant's starting level.

Their stats are as follows:

Diamant: HP 32/STR 13/MAG 3/DEX 13/SPD 13/DEF 10/RES 6/LUCK 10/BUILD 9

Boucheron: HP 37/STR 13/MAG 0/DEX 12/SPD 11/DEF 9/RES 4/LUCK 6/BUILD 10

Lapis: HP 27/STR 11/MAG 2/DEX 12/SPD 15/DEF 7/RES 6/LUCK 7/BUILD 5

None of them are anything incredible yet, but Diamant and Lapis having at least 12 speed means they aren't getting doubled by the 16 speed sword flyer (the other fliers are weighed down so they're not doubling anything and Lapis actually doubles the axe fliers), so Boucheron is slightly worse than the other two in this case, though only slightly.

Now let's look at what their promoted stats look like. In a normal playthrough, it's likely the player will have already promoted Boucheron if they planned on using him in the long term, but this arguably doesn't matter, and you'll see why in a moment.

Diamant 11 Lord/1 Successeur: HP 34/STR 15/MAG 4/DEX 14/SPD 14/DEF 11/RES 6/LUCK 11/BUILD 10

Boucheron 11 Axe Fighter/Warrior: HP 38/STR 16/MAG 1 (RADIANT BOW REAL!?!?)/DEX 14/SPD 13/DEF 10/RES 6/LUCK 7/BUILD 11

Lapis Sword Fighter 11/Swordmaster 1: HP 28/STR 12/MAG 3/DEX 14/SPD 18/DEF 8/RES 7/LUCK 9/BUILD 6

Diamant and Boucheron are nearly identical, and Boucheron has 13 speed now, so no more getting doubled by that one flyer. The problem, however, is that neither of them actually are able to double anything except the armors. Both of them and Lapis can easily ORKO them using effective weapons, but Boucheron can also OHKO the 10 speed mages with an unforged steel axe, and Diamant, notably, falls one point short of doing the same. 14 speed is also one point short of doubling them, so even after promotion, Diamant's performance on this map is a little suspect. Boucheron can also use a steel bow and delete a flier if you want to, whereas Diamant doesn't have that option.

The only other things to worry about on the map are Zelkov, who doubles Boucheron before promotion, the random 20 speed Swordmaster, who doubles both of the boys, and Ivy, who doubles no one (even before promotion) and is doubled in return by promoted Lapis.

Lapis is handily winning after promotion, and I'd argue she's definitely the best choice to promote out of the three. Diamant is pretty clearly doing the worst of the three after promotion, in part because while his growths are good, his bases and Successeur's promotion bonuses are somewhat limp.

Now, obviously, this only gives a snapshot of a single chapter, but it's illustrative of their comparative performance over the course of a playthrough. Lapis can obviously do very well as a flyer, and even Boucheron can put some pretty impressive numbers out doing the same, but none of them are showstoppers right out of the gate. The boys require a similar amount of effort to make them good, and you get similar results, whereas Lapis with one level and a promotion handily outperforms both of them. One of your two master seals isn't a trivial investment at that point, but I feel confident in saying that you're getting more bang for your buck with Lapis.

In closing, I think Diamant is a C-tier unit, because I think Boucheron is also C-tier unit and is directly comparable to him, if not slightly better. After looking at how much better she is right out the gate, Lapis probably should have been in B tier, but eh, what can you do.

EDIT: I forgot the doubling threshold in Engage is 5 or more speed instead of 4 or more, which actually makes a pretty significant difference for Diamant, specifically. Diamant doesn't double the mages I thought he did, promoting Boucheron makes him no longer get doubled by Zelkov (for all that matters), and Lapis...still doubles everything she did before.

In light of that, Lapis is winning even more than before, and Diamant is losing very slightly more. Not a huge difference as far as Diamant is concerned, but I think I accidentally convinced myself that Lapis should be a tier ahead of them, or at the very least much higher in the same tier.

C-tier

He’s an all-around decent unit. Successeur is basically a Hero sidegrade. He has decent Str and Spd, but he has good Bld. Successeur using A-Axes but having an option to use S-rank swords with Engage attacks is kinda nice. He is best paired with either Emblem Roy or Marth, as he really appreciates the extra Str and Spd. He also has decent bulk. Everything about him is “okay”.

His low Dex cap isn’t an issue. Just assume Sol isn’t going to trigger, and engrave his weapons. It’s fine. He has fine hit rates. Fair Fight is also a good personal skill in helping his hit rates too.

He is just a decent unit.

I would say the First Sun God from the First World deserves a place in God tier to.

not sure if Earth God is symbolic or representative of the first Sun God enemy...

So I can't include his enemy in God tier until it gets more clear.

Imu is likely the Forest God in the second world ("who tamed demons") which managed to kill Joy Boy somehow.

Luffy is most likely the Sun God of the third world.
