TL;DR
Switching to New Plans
Several users expressed dissatisfaction with Verizon's new plans, suggesting that switching might result in higher costs without additional benefits [1:1]. Some users are considering moving to other providers due to better deals elsewhere
[1:2]
[1:3]. However, visiting a Verizon store or calling customer service can provide insights into current promotions and plan features
[1:4].
Comparison Tools and Resources
A user created a one-page worksheet to help compare Verizon's plans against competitors. This tool allows individuals to circle their needs and calculate the total cost based on the number of lines and device preferences [2]. The worksheet highlights discrepancies in bundle offerings, such as the Disney Bundle with ads on Hulu and ESPN
[2:2]. Users can also use Verizon's website for a side-by-side comparison of plan features
[3:1].
MVNO Options
For those restricted to Verizon due to coverage issues, exploring MVNOs like Total Wireless could be a viable option. It offers competitive pricing for family plans, especially for international needs like Mexico roaming and Korea calling [4:2]. Apps like Kakao Talk and GV voice can also facilitate international communication at lower costs
[4:3].
Promotions and Discounts
Verizon occasionally offers promotions, which can be extensive and detailed. Checking for specific weekend deals or ongoing promotions might yield potential savings [5:1]. Additionally, discounts may be available for certain professions or if bundled with services like Verizon Fios
[2:7]
[2:11].
Overall, while Verizon's plans may not always be the cheapest option, utilizing comparison tools and exploring alternative carriers or MVNOs can help find a plan that best suits your family's needs.
I am the manager of a family account with 4 phone lines and 3 watches. I also have Verizon Fios. My phone plans are an older generation (Get More, Play more), and I was considering switching all the phone lines to the new plans, but wanted to do a very specific cost comparison before pulling the trigger.
For example, I would want to calculate all the savings that could result from all 7 devices, plus the change in price for Fios service. Additionally, all 4 of my current plans have individual apple music included for free. The new plans would allow me to pay $10 for Apple Music-Family, but I would want some help/directions on how to switch my Apple Music account from individual accounts to family accounts.
If I called the customer service #, would they be willing to provide this level of help? If not, is there another option?
Thanks in advance!
If verizon Make their plan Better Then rip off Customers like me. maybe I'll stay with them. But for now. I'm just close to Move in to a different provider. Offer better deals.
Yeah I wish there were other carriers then Verizon but there are not any!
I swear But I do Give them this. At least they're internet. Is faster Just Depending on Where do you live? At My internet is fast. With Verizon I give them that. They just need to work on. Making it better. My plan With more Better Deals on the Type of plan. Best For customers like me. Or anyone
DO NOT switch to the NEW plans! Its not worth it! You will end up paying more for the same plans!
That's the problem. They fuck me over. With the plan. I'm switching Back to T-Mobile Or a different provider. That offers better than my Plan
Yeah I know they do BUT Verizon has never been the caring carrier! Verizon has always been the coverage carrier!
$150 Plus taxes That's too much.
I think you could walk into any Verizon store (maybe check Google reviews to make sure it's not garbage?) and they would help, as well as just calling the main customer service number and talking to a rep.
I did both today and was pleased to learn about my (limited, but worthwhile) options for moving from a grandfathered old "Medium" plan to one of the Unlimited plans, as well as device promos associated with that move.
Because I'm mad at myself. For Letting Verizon Switch to my Plan
I tried that. They were not Helpful It didn't seem like They wanted to help. That's how bad customer services. And on the phone
Hey everyone,
With Verizon's launch of their new plans, I was wondering, how do they stack up against the competition?
So I made a simple one-page worksheet to find out.
You can print this worksheet and fill it out for yourself.
Basically, you just circle what you need from each section.
You circle the plan price based on how many lines you have. You circle the phone price based on if you prefer to purchase outright or do carrier trade-in deals. And you circle the perks based on which services you enjoy.
Then, you add everything up to get your monthly total for each plan.
You may be surprised what the totals come out to in the end.
The plan prices include all estimated taxes & fees based in Longmont, CO. Taxes and fees vary by location, but the relative pricing between the plans, ie. one plan being more expensive than another, should be the same regardless of your area.
Hope you find this helpful!
Great resource! Were you surprised by any of your results?
Some features are just hard to compare apples to apples. The Disney Bundle that verizon offers has no ads on Disney+ but ads on both Hulu and ESPN. They suggest the value of that is $15, although a package like that is not available to the public. The $20 bundle that you use in the sheet has no ads in Hulu+.
Or the 1 week international travel I would argue requires 2x (3) travel passes for a total of $60. TM has 5GB includes but you may require an additional $35 travel pass to get 5GB more.
I was definitely surprised by some of the results!
Ahh –– that makes sense! I was totally confused trying to figure out which bundle Verizon was including, and now it all makes sense that it isn't available to the public. What do you think would be a better way to present that? Maybe swap to the Trio Basic with ads for all 3 services as the comparison plan? That would drop Verizon's savings from $10 to $3.
Or is there a way for VZ customers to purchase an ad-free Hulu subscription? And do we know how much that would cost?
For the 1 week of international travel, I'm using 3 travel passes for $30, which covers 9 days.
Hulu charges me $5/month for no ads on top of the Verizon bundle.
AT&T gets the premium plan at a $10/line/month discount with almost any employer code. Which brings the pice under all the competition. Worth noting.
25% off if you have fiber through them
Or if you’re a teacher, first responder, nieces, or doctor
Great idea! I added a note about that up top.
I'd remove taxes and fees since it's based on your specific area.
My thinking was that the relative pricing would be the same regardless of your area. So if AT&T is more expensive in one location, it would be more expensive in all locations.
Or would that not be the case?
Netflix Premium on T-Mobile 2+ line premium plan is not $20 but $7 + tax. Also it includes Apple TV+. Additionally, a 1 week international trip might be free on T-Mobile if you can make do with 5GB of data.
Thank you! Just updated the worksheet :)
I'm grandfathered on an old plan (5G Start) with my phone, my wife's phone, and my Galaxy watch at a $10 add on. It's costing me 60 bucks per phone plus what I owe on her phone. Is there somewhere I can compare my current plan with the new plans they are offering? I want to be prepared in case they start jacking up the cost of my 5G Start plan. I'd love to get a side by side comparison with costs.
I mean, what more are you looking for? https://www.verizon.com/plans/unlimited/
A SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON, FOR ONE! It’s useless remarks like yours that make Reddit useless.
If you are on Start then I’d move to Unlimited Welcome if you don’t need any hotspot. Either way the new plan you could add 100GB of hotspot if needed later on down the line.
Thank you both.
Go here: https://www.verizon.com/plans/unlimited/
scroll down to where it says "Check out pricing and plan features". When you click it you'll get a chart first showing the per line price from 1 line to 4. (Make a note that the "autopay" toggle is on so its taking $10 off the full price already.
Then scroll down some more and you'll see what each plan has as far as features.
If you go into the MyVerizon app tap "account" at the bottom, then tap "Plans," then tap one of your lines. You'll see a link for "Plan Features." Use the information that comes up here to compare to what the new Unlimited plans have.
TLDR is in the title, but I've seen some fantastic analysis here and am in paralysis-by-analysis looking at the options. I'm constrained to Verizon MVNO because they are the only ones with a tower near my tiny town (no AT&T or T-Mobile here). I swapped to xfinity once and after a year had to dump them because the customer service was appalling and every time I went to Mexico the roaming feature in my plan would stop working and I'd get enormous bills for hundreds of dollars which on average would require a week, 4 calls, and 4-6 hours on the phone to resolve.
Facts:
- 4 people in the family, all adults as of May 2025. One near Seattle and the rest in small-town Idaho.
- I don't really care about streaming speed, but I understand VPNs. Only 1 of us uses hotspot, and only occasionally.
- I travel in Mexico several times a year for 2 weeks at a time.
- My wife must be able to call Korean cell and landlines ($10 "Global Choice" surcharge with Verizon)
- Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S9 G960U (me, LOL), Galaxy A426U
- Plan is three 5G Do More; one on 5G Play more. Last bill was $188 after a discount and three phones getting $14/mo credit for BYOD, as well as $5 each for the auto-pay. If I'm doing the math right, in another year the monthly BYOD credit expires and we add another $42 per month!! That'll be around $230/mo!
Total wireless will tick all your check boxes. 4 lines come out to 90$
How often /long does she call Korea? GV voice could be a better choice. Also, she can use Kakao Talk/Line/Telegram/WhatsApp to conduct voice calls unless the person in Korea is super old school and does not have smart phone. Also GV Korea rate is 1 cent/min, or 2 cents/min to mobile and land , respectively. Apps calls are free.
You nailed it. She uses Kakao Talk with most of the rest of the family and friends, but Mom is super old school. LOL, her mom might be the last Korean without a phone surgically implanted, which is honestly kind of awesome.
This is a copy of the OP's original post in case they decide to delete their post/account so that others searching can find it later:

I see a lot of posts asking about switching to Visible, and if it's worth it, so I figured I'd make the decision easier with some examples.
I'll use my own situation as the first example, as it's pretty common:
I have 2 lines and want the best performing flagship phone, premium data, and we upgrade typically every 3 years. One of our lines has the Disney+ bundle that we use regularly. Our current bill is about $150/mo because we have some loyalty discounts and we try to take advantage of pre-order trade in promos on Samsung's website when we purchase our phones. If we went with Visible, we would be looking at the Visible+ plan at $45/mo per line on top of likely paying full MSRP for our phones (not including any sales or promos).
This same breakdown on Visible would look like this:
• $1,080/yr for two lines ($45/mo per line) or $790/yr ($33/mo per line) if paid upfront.
• $826/yr ($69/mo) for two devices (S23+ 256gb and S23U 512gb) if you upgrade every 3 yrs. $2,480 full MSRP.
• $240/yr ($20/mo) for the Disney+ Bundle.
For my lifestyle, it would cost me $179/mo ($89.90/mo per line) on Visible+ when I am currently paying about $150 ($75/mo per line) with my phones on promotion through Verizon, so it isn't worth it for me to switch at the moment.
Common Example #2
A couple who doesn't need premium data, keeps their phones for 5 years, gets the base model flagship and doesn't use Disney/Hulu.
• $600/yr for two lines on Visible intro ($25/mo per line)
• $320/yr for two devices ($26/mo for base model newest release iPhone/Samsung/Pixel) if you upgrade every 5 years. $1,600 full MSRP.
Switching to the intro Visible plan would cost this couple about $51/mo ($25.50/mo per line), and it is more than likely worth the switch.
To save on writing time for me and reading time for you, I included the per line cost in these examples so that if your lifestyle fits one of these, but with a different number of lines, you can just take the monthly line cost and multiply it by your number of lines to get a quick comparison.
I hope this gives some perspective for anyone trying to compare.

I switched a few days after Christmas to Mint Mobile, I got a deal of $10/mth for the first 3 months intro pricing and it is all prepaid. I was with Verizon for over 25 years. I’m glad I switched. The great thing about Mint is that you can change your plan at anytime and just pay the extra charges or just adding more data to your current plan. The plans range in increments of 3-months, 6-months and 12-months. The longer you prepay for, the bigger the discounts are. My current plan renews at $25/mth every 3-months. If I go with the upgrade I would like to do, 12-months with 15GB Data and will cost $240 plus taxes and fees, this is for an entire year. They also have Unlimited Data plans and Mint is owned by T-Mobile, so it runs off all their towers. I switched and I’m very happy with switching. No regrets, I have only had limited service when I go up near the mountains, but it is expected in remote locations.
I live in New England, and the reception for T-Mobile/Sprint is abysmal in my area. I switched my late brother's phone to Mint because I needed a cheap plan to put his phone on to keep his number alive while we let things settle. Moved my grandmother to Visible because I'd like her on unlimited to keep things simple. Verizon is the only thing that consistently works around here (and even then, I haven't been impressed lately),
im in the same boat i just recently thought about switching to visible once our device trade in promos finish. But right off the bat im skeptical if its worth it. Just in the period from last month i used 100gb on wifi at my house, and i guarantee i use at least 5 times that when im not at home. so im almost half a TB, i wonder how visible handles heavy data usage. I never really hear anyone mention it. I also stream 1080 a lot on my phone. i dont plan on upgrading every 3 or so years but the wife convinces me somehow lol, last time we traded in our old devices to Samsung and got $1000 off the s24 ultra. i still have a year or so before the credits finish so im in no rush
What I always tell people is to factor in the savings. Check the savings against the installment credits and see which one is saving you more. Sucks to hear, but sometimes cutting your losses on the traded in phone is worth the savings in the long run. These wireless carriers sell you a phone on an installment plan, drip feed your promo credits to you, and hold your traded device hostage in the meantime. It should be a give and take relationship both ways between the consumer and the business, but this type of agreement is easy for the company to be predatory when they start changing pricing after the device installment plan was already agreed on.
Reading this it seems like a normal thing to many people to have a payment plan for a device.
Something I just can’t see myself doing and I usually keep my phone for about 5 years on average before replacing.
Yeah it's tough with the big 3 because now device installments are 36mo.
Sounds like your mind is made up. If it works for you, do you.
I'm constantly shopping deals, so if/when the time comes, I'll be eagerly waiting to jump ship.
Hard to jump ship on 3 year phone installments unless the stars align perfectly between payoffs and upgrades.
If Disney+ is important that was (not sure if still being offered) on total wireless 5g+ plan (priority Verizon, unlimited 5mbps hotspot, Disney + no ads). If you byod I thought the first line was $30 and the second one was $30 as well (but don't quote me, not sure if still active). CS there is subpar but if halfway tech savvy can avoid them.
If my math is mathing and you buy/trade your phones directly with carrier and assume a $20-30/mo paent for phones, could be looking at $100-$120 a month for 2 phones/Disney +/and priority Verizon service. To each their own though.
Just found out my family pays 250 for month for our 8 gb plan for 4 people (two gb each) is the unlimited plan that is 40 dollars per month actually cheaper or are there a ton of hidden fees ?
You be at $120 plus tax with VZW prepaid and 6GB for each person. Half the price and triple the data.
Do you know if you pay the 20 dollar per device fee on prepaid ?
No, you don't. A straight fee for each line based upon the GB plan you choose and if you do auto pay. another way to save is to buy Verizon cards on eBay and apply them to your account. A typical $40 Verizon card is only around $25.
He could also just pay $96 for 6 gigs a piece for each line on Verizon prepaid refill card from Ebay cost $23.99 × 4= 96 for a $40 x 4 = $160 in refill credit
The 8gb Plan is 70$+20$/line. That means 150$.
You must have nearly 100$ in device Payments. The plan is not actually that much.
Yep, should be $150 plus taxes and fees. Unlimited would be minimum $160 plus taxes and fees for 4 lines of GoUnlimited.
Phone installment agreements are the likely culprit, possibly insurance on one or multiple lines as well.
OP, you need to take a look at your bill to determine how everything is structured. Or if you call in or go to a store, they can do a quick account analysis to break down where each charge is coming from. But long story short, your 8GB plan is cheaper than unlimited, especially if you have any corporate/employer discount applied to the $70 base 8GB portion of the bill.
What do you mean device payments
Like of you buy an iPhone instead of paying 1000+$ at the store you can pay monthly over 24 Months.
If you go to a Verizon store and buy an iPhone, you'll pay the MSRP over 24 months. No added fees are there, you only pay MSRP or Sale price at time of buying
Add ROG phone
What do you mean by that? The gaming phone??
Everyone forgetting it could be more everything 8gb...have it looked at.
How would that help ?
My wife and I have 2 lines for years, but we are looking to add a 3rd line. We can add on to our legacy plan, or switch to the newer plans for slightly more. Is there a difference that I would actually see or notice? I don't want to pay more for something I am already happy with.
are you currently on legacy total wireless $60 (plus sales tax) 2 line unlimited talk/text with 30gb shared high speed data plan or a total by Verizon plan? What are you currently paying?
We are currently on the $60 unlimited t/t, 30gb plan. I was told it would be $85/month if we added a new line with the current plan. It would be $100 a month to switch to the new plan.
I was trying to see if I would notice a difference between staying on the current plan or should I change to the new plan. Basically is it worth an extra $15 a month. We both work from home and are on wifi 90% of the time, so we never come close to using the 30 gb.
I did not think the would allow you to change from the $60 2-line legacy plan to the $85 3-line legacy plan. That is great if they let you. Keep in mind that the legacy plans have sales tax where as the new plans have all sales taxes and other fees included.
three lines on the $40/$50/$60 plan costs $100/$110/$120.
The new plans vs your legacy plan have these differences…
the $40 plan offers unlimited high speed data, calling to 85 countries, texting to 100 countries. 5gb hotspot, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and $100/$200 phone credit/coupon after 6/12 months,.
the $50 plan offers the above plus priority data (does not slow at times of congestion like the legacy plan or $40 plan), 5G ultra wide where available, 15gb hotspot, roaming in 15 countries, and 6 months of Disney+.
the $60 plan offers the above plus unlimited hotspot (but throttled to 5 mbps speed), and disney+ for as long as you have an active service.
plus with the $40/50/60 plans the 4th line is free.
so there are things to consider for sure.
Yes, if your devices are capable to receive the Ultra Wideband of Verizon, the newer plan grant you access to it and get close to a gigabyte per second download speed
I upgraded my 5 line legacy plan to get Canadian coverage. TW did it over the phone with minimal headache. + $10/ month
I upgraded to the newer plans partly because of working from home. Wanted the hot spotting for when home internet is down.
There is one other consideration that may factor into your decision: In most states you have to pay sales tax plus 911 & possibly USF fees on most prepaid wireless cards (here in Arkansas they're possibly the highest in the country thanks to high sales taxes plus an inexplicably outrageous 10% 911 fee, far higher than landlines or postpaid wireless 😲🤦🏻♀️ ); that applies to both legacy Total plans.
New Total, however, includes ALL taxes & fees in the advertised price you pay (they're taken out of that amount on paper when your plan renews each month -- even Verizon's own "regulatory recovery fees", a bane of postpaid bills, are deducted on paper but it's not really an issue here), a strategy introduced by MetroPCS many years ago even before T-Mobile bought it, followed by Cricket when AT&T bought it, and now copied by Verizon for both Visible & new Total. Because of that, new Total's teal "payment cards" at retail are usually free of all taxes & fees as well. (Target even applies Target Circle discounts, a minimum of 5% for Target Circle Card aka RedCard holders, plus others both in-store & online usually once a month; I always got my Cricket refills at Target for that reason, and I'm doing that now with new Total as well.)
Verizon family plans comparison
Key Considerations for Verizon Family Plans:
Number of Lines: Verizon offers discounts for multiple lines. The more lines you add, the lower the cost per line typically becomes.
Data Options: Choose between shared data plans or unlimited data plans. Shared plans can be more cost-effective if your family uses less data, while unlimited plans are better for heavy users.
Plan Types:
Cost: Compare the monthly costs for each plan type based on the number of lines. Discounts often apply for families with 2 or more lines.
Additional Features: Look for perks like Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Apple Music subscriptions, which can add value to your plan.
Recommendations:
Important Note: Prices and plan details can change, so it's a good idea to visit the Verizon website or contact customer service for the most up-to-date information.
