What Redditors are Saying

Verizon Unlimited Plus Family Plan Details

TL;DR The Verizon Unlimited Plus plan offers various perks and add-ons, but many users find the Get More plan to be more beneficial. Family plans can reduce costs per line, especially with multiple lines.

Plan Costs and Add-Ons

The Verizon Unlimited Plus plan can become quite expensive when additional perks are included. For example, one user reported their single line costing $140 due to add-ons like Disney Bundle, Apple Music Family, and TravelPass days [1]. Each add-on typically costs around $10 per month, which can quickly increase the total bill [1:9].

Comparison with Other Plans

Many users compare the Unlimited Plus plan with other Verizon plans, particularly the Get More plan. The Get More plan is often preferred because it offers better value, including features like unlimited premium data and Apple Music for the line [1:3], [1:6]. Some users suggest sticking with the Get More plan as long as possible due to its favorable offerings [1:5].

Family Plan Structure

Verizon's family plans allow for a mix-and-match approach where each line can have different features based on individual needs. This structure is beneficial compared to other carriers that require all lines to have the same plan level [3:1], [3:3]. Adding more lines can reduce the cost per line, making it more economical for families [3:1].

Ultimate vs. Plus Plan for International Use

For families that travel internationally, the Ultimate plan is recommended due to its unlimited hotspot and international talk/text/data features [4:1], [4:3]. However, if travel is limited to Mexico and Canada, the Plus plan may suffice [4:5].

Grandfathered Plans

Some users are on grandfathered plans that offer uncapped data and basic 5G coverage [5:7]. While customer service may advise switching to newer plans, it's important to evaluate whether the new plans offer better value or network priority [5:2], [5:9]. Grandfathered plans can sometimes be cheaper than current offerings, especially if they include perks not available in newer plans [5:3].

Honestly, if they gave each line one free perk of your choice it wouldn’t be a bad deal. Obviously not as good as Get More, but I honestly don’t use most/any of the perks.

It’s claiming $35/line for Plus on my 4 phone line account. Aka same as my Do More lines.

I like that. Either reduce the prices without addons or give you one free perk of your choice. I love my get more and probably won’t switch.

I’m sorry I stopped taking this seriously when I saw the data and safety and the cloud storage.

Their both bullshit and totally unneeded.

These new plans are bullshit too. But this is just trying to make it look worse than it really is. If you don’t get all the extra bullshit it’s a small increase overall.

The real loss is the trade in discounts getting butchered.

Yup! It tells me if I switch I lose my promotions but then says I’ll keep them (sounds fishy) and I ain’t want no $600 charge to buy out devices. Not worth the $10 savings

And you get way less when upgrading so time to buy phones outright

Compared to Get More you have an extra 1.4 TB of cloud storage, 2 more travel pass days accrued per month, Apple Music family instead of individual, and smart watch safety which wasn’t on Get More at all.

Not really a 1:1 comparison.

Curious what everyone is paying a month?

Posted by badgalmi · in r/verizon · 3 months ago

And how many lines do you have? My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 toddlers) we have 3 phone lines (1 is almost paid off, 1 is free and the other is still being paid on), 4 ipads (1 paid off and 3 being paid on) and 1 apple watch and we are paying $327.64.

Edit to add Prices

8 Lines total

Plan prices $249.60

Device payments $78.04

Perks = Apple Music, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN for free with the 5g get more plan (which I’m keeping until Verizon kicks me off lol) and the $15 Apple perk on the unlimited ultimate plan.

Devices = We have a 14 pro max, 15 pro and a 16. A 2021 iPad Pro 12.9, 2 2021 iPad minis and a 10th gen iPad and an Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Does Verizon Wireless not have family plans with unlimited datas for everyone instead of each line?

Posted by antdude · in r/verizon · 3 years ago

Currently on VZW's old shared 4 GB data family plan with unlimited voice calls and SMSes with iPhones (11 Pro Max, 12 mini, and 13 Pro). It would be nice to get shared unlimited cell datas for everyone.

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering. :)

For current Unlimited plans, everyone gets Unlimited, it’s just the additional features that may sound appealing per line. Play More works if you want better video streaming and access to the Disney Bundle. Do More works better if you have an Android phone (because of VZ Cloud) or if you have a tablet/jetpack/watch on the account due to 50% line access discount. Get More combines both, you get more hotspot, Unlimited Premium data, and Apple Music for the line.

jbarajasp1 · 3 years ago

Per line is better, it lets u mix and match the plans… compared to T-mobile for example… if one person wants the premium plan they must all get the premium plan.

The costs are comparable 2 lines on T-Mobile magenta are $120, 2 lines on Verizon start unlimited also $120…

on Verizon’s old “the new Verizon Unlimited” family the data was $110.. and the calling and text was $20 per line….that was a total of $150

Each line added to the Mix and Match plans reduces the price of each line plan per se, up to 5 lines for the maximum discount, so we could technically say it is a family plan when you reach that threshold since Do and Play cost $40 per line with autopay at that point.

Plus or Ultimate for 2-3 lines?

Posted by Butterfingers43 · in r/verizon · 3 months ago

As titled. Coming back to Verizon postpaid after a very bad experience with MVNOs regarding international coverage. Verizon is the only reliable provider in this area. Will stay on whatever plan I sign up for the foreseeable future (3-6 years). Other than the obvious price and marketed features, do these two plans vary in any significant way in terms of meeting the family’s needs?

Usage: Quite a bit of data both in the U.S. and Canada. Canadian calling. Hot spot data for laptop and iPad.

Devices: Currently 14 Pro and 14s, undamaged and paid off. At least one of us is going to upgrade to 16 Pro Max.

Ultimate gives unlimited Hotspot and international talk/text/data. You also get 50% off 2 connected devices if you want cellular on them (watches and tablets).

Plus gives you 30GB Hotspot and Canada and Mexico talk/text/data. You get 50% off 1 connected device.

What’s the exact name of your plan? I think you might technically be on gUDP?… unless there’s another plan out there.

Only reason it makes sense to switch up plans is if it costs the same or less (or at least adds value to what you pay). Several plans offer Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ for free, and others offer that plus free Apple Music.

I’d advise going here and toggle how many lines you have or expect to have. This quotes AutoPay discount (must use Verizon Visa, Debit, or checking). You might also be able to find a MyOffer for $25/mo discount. Login to MyVerizon, tap cart button at the bottom, and tap MyOffers. This discount is a permanent lifetime discount on Mix & Match plans. Substantial discount for sure. Military/Vet/Nurse/FirstResponder/Teacher get the same discount but the loyalty offer is permanently there and requires zero validation.

Edit your post with more clarify and I’m sure people can get better answers for you

Wow. Never seen anyone on that plan ever. What’s it cost you? I only started working with Verizon since 2019, best guess is the plan your on must’ve been expensive at the time and likely still is a bit pricey.

Curious if your plan ever qualifies for any of the promos which state “all unlimited plans” qualify. I know the fUDP plan is fine, while likely all gUDP plans do not.

I call shenanigans. Two lines of Welcome is $110. For the bill to increase $40, it would have to be $70 now. The last plan that was $70 for two lines was NVP 2 GB, and it was $75.

It's listed on MyAccount, under Additional Features, once you get the plan.

Freedom Mobile doesn't ever list those Additional Features for each individual plan on the plans page, just an inclusions list at the bottom of that page; they & all carriers really should be required to disclose all the details upfront.

It has their Price Freeze Promise & the only current discount on the plan is Digital Discount (there's also a $4 Freedom Mobile Home Internet credit, if the same account subscribes to that service).

Price Freeze Promise

Price Freeze Promise is our guarantee that the price of a wireless rate plan (prior to any discounts or credits) that any customer subscribes to and maintains will never incur a price increase.
This guarantee applies to all past and current wireless rate plans available to our customers.
The Price Freeze Promise only covers the wireless rate plan price itself, and not any other charges or fees, such as taxes, levies, pay-per-use charges, one-time passes, add-ons, device financing charges (such as MyTab and TradeUp charges), or any other additional charges/fees.

Trying to understand something about Unlimited Ultimate

Posted by calamityseye · in r/verizon · 2 months ago

So, I am considering upgrading my current phone from a Galaxy Z Fold4 with a broken hinge to a Pixel 9 Pro XL, and I was looking at the Unlimited Ultimate plan. Currently I have the 5G Play Moore plan which costs me $49, but Unlimited Ultimate is listed as being $55 a month with 3 year price lock guarantee. Now, when I scroll down to the bottom I see that the Broadband Facts lists this plan as $100 a month. Does that mean that after the 3 year price lock that this plan will go from being $55 a month to $100 a month? Just trying to understand what this all means.

What's the best option for a family plan in terms of data?

Posted by CrashKeyss · in r/verizon · 6 years ago

We have 4 people in the family. 3 people don't use much data, maybe 3-4gb combined. The other person uses about 20gb a month. From what I understand, the plan we had before is no longer going to be an option (I believe we split 30gb between us 4) which really upsets me as it feels like we're being strongarmed into getting less data and having to pay more on the new plans. Any advice? Don't want to switch services but this seems like pure greed to eliminate the old data plans with higher data allowances. Don't need unlimited, but 8gb limit a month is way too little.

New Tablet plans lineup. The “Welcome” plan has only 2GB of data.

Posted by EnvironmentalLog1766 · in r/verizon · 1 month ago

The old “Unlimited” and “Unlimited More” no more. They both have unlimited data, just deprioritized after 15GB or 30GB. They are grandfathered, and with a price increase this September: $25 for Unlimited and $40 for Unlimited More. 50% connected devices discount is still available.

The new lineup is:

Welcome $20

  • 5G Ultra Wideband access
  • 2GB of 5G data/4G LTE Data (then 1 Mbps)
  • Premium streaming quality (720p)

Unlimited $40

  • Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband Data (50GB, then deprioritized)
  • Unlimited 5G and 4G LTE Data (50GB, then deprioritized)
  • 15 GB premium mobile hotspot data
  • Premium streaming quality (720p)

Unlimited Plus $50

  • Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband Data
  • Unlimited 5G and 4G LTE Data
  • 100 GB premium mobile hotspot data
  • Premium streaming quality (1080p, 4K with toggle)

At this point I feel it’s just Verizon being pure greedy.

At this point, it’s deliberately hostile to their customers. It’s almost like they want to get users off to reduce congestion and drive us away. Whoever is in charge of their retail business is going to tank this company. I’m seriously considering t-mobile after years of being a customer of VZ and prior to that ATT

The T-Mobile and att plans aren’t as good as Verizon, even after this. Don’t get suckered into the $5 tablet plan on experience beyond. No hotspot and 25gb cap, no hd streaming and then 256kbps.

I share your sentiment as of late, myself. T-Mobile has definitely turned into a monster in their own right, and AT&T is just, well, AT&T. However, I must say: As a LIFELONG observer and basically a damn historian of the telecommunications industry, I have never…..and I mean NEVER…..seen a company stumble so bad, repeatedly, and continue to shoot themselves in the foot as I have with Verizon under Hans. There is stupidity and greed (see T-Mobile), general ineptitude (see AT&T), mismanagement and a cheap ass owner (see Dish/Boost Mobile). But, this shit going on at Verizon under Hans is just NEXT LEVEL. Like, Sprint status!

funny you bring up sprint. I’ve heard a fair number of people called Verizon the new sprint, but at least Sprint had somewhat confident customer service for a time and didn’t make people calling in battle an AI bought first. lol

AT&T learned its lesson by dumping their merger crap and going back to their roots. Verizon still think it's a good thing apparently. T-mobile was and is doing good things but definitely charging for it. At least T-mobile is innovating, outside of data breaches. So customers are getting network improvement while Verizon is standing pat. However, as a long time observer myself, I see good things coming despite all this mess. One, they always had the cash to bounce back. Two, I've seen network improvements in the past year. Three, I think they may start doing better QCI vs putting everyone on one.

Still sucks though. A person can only wait so long. I'm really liking what T-mobile is doing over there. Heck, not only do they have 5G SA but VOICE over 5G SA which sounds really good. Verizon just has 5G AS. T-mobile has SAT now. Verizon has it too but not fully there yet but it's supposed to be better than T-mobiles offering when it comes down to phone efficiency or something.

I agree, HANs has tanked the company just like he did at Ericsson. T-mobile was great under John's leadership.

Well I was doing the math and it seems like the Unlimited Plus is a better deal. $830 trade in credit vs $1100. Instead of paying $10 more a month (plus a bit more for whatever taxes add to that) for the Unlimited Ultimate, you can pay $7.5 more a month for the unsubsidized part of your upgrade. If you get extra value from the UU plan you should do it, but for me I don’t need the extra hotspot data, etc.

I will say I have upgraded to the Unlimited Ultimate plan twice in the past year when I traveled to Europe and wanted the international travel that is part of that plan. Once I was back in the US I downgraded back to Unlimited Plus. Are there some extra features of the UU plan that make it worth the additional $90 over the 3 years?

Does it affect the trade in credits if you upgrade and downgrade plans

If you are on the UP plan and only receive the $830 credit you can go up to UU and back down to UP and not lose your bill credits. If you were to drop to Unlimited Welcome you would lose your bill credits.

If you are UU and receive the $1100 credit you have to stay on UU. If you drop to UP you lose the bill credits. Since I only need UU occasionally I plan on only taking the $830 trade in option.

Can't you upgrade the months you travel only and then downgrade? That's what I did last time I went out of the country

money because it’s the price plan then device financed then taxes and fees and surcharge that total x 36 months and that’s how much you’re paying. Not to mention not everybody needs to be on the highest tier plan to use Verizon services. Sure it gives you $1100 off on the uu, but on the up, it’s $830 off still a good deal. You’ll do the math. $90 vs. $85 is a huge difference.

Nope that's the only difference if you're getting pro or pro max but for people getting the base model they don't need that or people that have tier 2 trade ins

I did this math and ended up with Ultimate Welcome. $55/month, $600 rebate = $1380 over 36 months. (Vs Ultimate unlimited $80/month, $1100 rebate = $1780 over 36 months) that’s enough savings for me to live with the limitations of the welcome plan. I agree with you that the cost difference between unlimited and plus is not much!

Verizon Unlimited Plus family plan details

Key Details of the Verizon Unlimited Plus Family Plan:

  1. Plan Features:

    • Unlimited talk, text, and data in the U.S.
    • 4G LTE data with a deprioritization threshold (typically around 22GB) after which speeds may be reduced during congestion.
    • HD video streaming (up to 720p).
    • 15GB of mobile hotspot data per line, after which speeds may be reduced.
  2. Pricing:

    • The cost typically starts around $40-$50 per line per month, depending on the number of lines and any promotions.
    • Discounts may apply for additional lines, making it more economical for families.
  3. International Features:

    • Unlimited texting and calling to Mexico and Canada.
    • International data usage may incur additional charges unless you opt for an international plan.
  4. Additional Benefits:

    • Access to Verizon's 5G network (if available in your area).
    • Potential access to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for eligible customers.
  5. Family Plan Structure:

    • You can add multiple lines (usually up to 10) under one account, which can help in managing billing and usage.

Recommendation: If your family uses a lot of data and enjoys streaming, the Verizon Unlimited Plus plan can be a great fit due to its unlimited data and additional perks. However, if your family uses less data, consider looking into Verizon's other family plan options that may offer lower costs while still meeting your needs. Always check for current promotions or discounts that may apply!
