Release Date Announcement
The release date for Hades 2 has been officially announced as September 25, 2025. It will be available on platforms including Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store [3],
[5].
Launch Timing Considerations
While the exact time of day for the launch hasn't been specified, there are some general expectations based on previous releases. Steam releases often occur around 11 AM to noon local time (CST) [2:2]. However, it's advisable to wait for official confirmation closer to the release date, as this information typically becomes available a few days prior
[2:5].
Pre-Release Excitement
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release, with discussions about booking time off work to enjoy the game upon its release. Some suggest booking the day after the release to avoid being caught out by late-day launches [2:8]. The excitement is palpable, with fans discussing their hopes for new content and character appearances in the sequel
[4].
Gameplay and Content Expectations
There are mixed feelings about the gameplay changes in Hades 2 compared to its predecessor. Some players have noted that the focus on "magic" and "casting" might slow down combat, while others are hopeful for balancing improvements in the final release [5:2],
[5:6]. Despite these concerns, the anticipation remains high for what the full version will bring
[5:8].

Have fun.
Even though the wheel is big but I love insanity so if you got a request of a series to get on the wheel, say it I take any suggestions.

I want to take a couple of days off work to play but I’m in the UK so wondering whether it might launch in the afternoon on Thursday and be worth me working a half day
steam releases seem to happen around 11am-noon-ish local time for me (CST).
Oh damn, that wouldn’t be worth me taking Thursday off at all then as it would launch when I’d usually finish
You will be able to know about 2-3 days before release.... I think
usually we get that type of info a bit closer to the date unfortunately
Oh no guess I’ll book the whole day off and have a lie in if it turns out it’s launching in the afternoon 😂 I wasn’t sure if there was a sort of standard launch time for Nintendo games for example that it might line up with
I always recommend not to book the release date off but book the next day. Been screwed over by 11pm release to many times and just wasted the whole day waiting
Aussies have a public holiday on 26th.
I'm all set for the game!
so mote it be!
So I did some digging and I’m pretty it’ll be between 12:00:01 AM EST and 11:59:59 PM PST on the 25th.
Thank you for your service this really narrows it down 😉😉

SuperGiant Games made a new Hades 2 trailer yesterday. So, what do you hope to see in it.
I feel like they'll be no new characters (even though I'm hoping so)
I wanna see Odysseus reunite with Telemachus and Penelope. And some other gods to, Pheme and Iris
Zagreus, Thanatos, Nyx, Meg, Achilles, Dusa and Persephone 😭😭
Them of course, and I want to visit the Palace of Zeus and meet in person the other Olympians that give us boons. Aphrodite, Apollo, Hephaestus, Ares, Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Poseidon, and Zeus.
A few additional minor gods that reside inside the palace would also be nice to appear such as the sons of Ares, Deimos and Phobos, or the Dioskouroi, or Asclepius, or Hebe, the future wife of Heracles, or the goddess Nike, who should only be encountered next to Zeus's throne sometimes à la Thanatos, since she was always so elusive in the real mythology.
I also really wish they show a minor Olympian god as the encounter of the Summit phase! It's unlikely, but I would really like to see the Muses, since they would show a lot of different concepts and designs.
Every time I take out the Thanatos aspect axe, I get a little twinge of sadness because I don't actually get to see Thanatos around.
I want a Zagreus secret boss tbh
sorry i just love that trope where you get to fight the previous protag regardless of circumstance
For real. I think the main thing I miss about the first game over the second is some of the characters. Don't get me wrong I like the characters in 2, I just really miss some of the interactions Zag had along the way
ZAGREUS. PLEASE. JUST A HINT OF THE SWEET PRINCE. Since seeing the second trailer, my heart is honestly a little sore that Zagreus didn't get such an incredible animation. His eyes aren't even coloured correctly in his trailer, please let him have a juiced-up trailer for some future anniversary edition.
Also, THANATOS. We know where or have had mentioned where THREE of his brothers are, let me see Death Incarnate plz I miss his so-in-love-with-Zag-and-mad-about-it face.
Please fix ares
Facts, it feels like the only reason to take him most runs is to either set up grievous blow, mutual destruction, or maybe blood spree in a really niche case. He needs a buff/rework, I also wish they would revert the internal splash cooldown.
Plasma is annoying and underwhelming and wounds are just blah as a curse. You’ve really got to lean all the way in to make ares feel strong. I’ve had some silly heinous affront builds (ares special on supay, grievous blow, ares, Zeus, Apollo revenge, grisly gain, sanguinary savior) but overall it’s not something I’d ever seek out.

I played it an update or two and was pretty disappointed, but maybe I'll come around with the full release. The weapons to me are a HUGE downgrade compared to the ones in the first game, the build crafting overall seems way more punishing with how you really have to get lucky with blessings to get a specific build. I hope they've done a lot of balancing passes because the game felt more frustrating than enjoyable to play.
I did like everything else though, it's just the gameplay that felt pretty lacking
OMG, I am not alone about weapons. The weapons were so bad when I played it when it launched on EA. I mean, the choices were bad. They are all staff and ranged. There were knives and a hammer, but the knives were bad, and the hammer was crazy slow. It's crazy not to have proper melee weapons like a sword, spear, or such..
Yeah I'm not really sure I dig the bigger focus on "magic" and "casting", for one it imho slows down the combat considerably (unless you get REALLY lucky with a build) and it feels like there's just less room for you to feel like, well, a god. That's the fun part of a roguelike and what Hades nailed, when you get a crazy build going and you feel unstoppable.
As I mentioned before, it's super rare to come across this feeling in the sequel and tbh it's just not that fun
Glad to see a release date. Soon too
Don’t know if you will know this, but will there be anymore content updates after 1.0? Not sure if they did this with hades or not. Either way I’m hype!
Hades 1 didnt have additional content after 1.0 but we cant rule what that hades 2 might be different
Will the price increase on steam? I’m wondering if I should buy it now while it’s still early access
The price would almost certainly increase at some point but I’d be very surprised if this game didn’t debut at some sale. If it’s discounted now, you might as well snag it. It’s a full game already and the changes they made since release… dramatically changed the game.
Before the entire boom rework, I would’ve described this as a somewhat lesser version of Hades, but now I’d consider the combat a true successor to the first game. Story-wise, it’s not as tight or good as Hades, but it’s a direct sequel from a game that didn’t need it, so it should’ve been expected. I’m just happy I like almost every weapon in this game while in the first I stuck to the gauntlets almost exclusively after unlocking them.

I genuinely cannot believe we're getting Silksong and Hades 2 in the same month. What a time to be alive.
it's crazy but i feel bad. I feel like Hades 2 is gonna be overshadowed at the game awards
It might, but what’s the alternative? Going against GTA next year? Tough spot, and in the end who cares about the game awards… Hades II will be celebrated either way.
E33, Nightreign, Split Fiction, Death Stranding 2, Blue Prince, KCD2, Silksong and now Hades 2??? This year has been nothing less than amazing for video games! The Game Awards is gonna be hype (and very polarising) this year.
It gets worse. Mina the Hollower (from the makers of Shovel Knight) comes out on Halloween...
Silksong, Hades II, and Ghost of Yotei? This is the autumn of girl gamer sequels
Really great game, and I'm hopeful that there will be even more added to it with expansions or DLC or something.
I've never heard of that game. I'll look into it!
Can I grind this out before ghost of Yotei on October 2?!
Gosh, I forgot Ghost of Yotei is coming out soon as well. What a year!
unlikely. it's twice as big as the first Hades.
depending on your hemisphere. though sequel spring has a nicer ring to it

Ill get physical even a collectors if there was just to support the devs, absolutely loved Hades 1!!!
I'd love a PS5 physical copy to put next to PS5 - Hades.
Does anyone know if there will be a EU release? Or is this NA only?
I'm definitely waiting for physical, really hoping it's not a game key card and has the full game.
Good. I might Pick up Hades 1 digital (might be cheaper) and after i tried 1 out i can buy Hades 2 physical
PlayStation and Xbox releases to follow after.
I’ll be over in the corner crying.
If you can post on Reddit, I feel your computer should be able to handles Hades 2? It's not graphically demanding at all.
It's even on Mac.
They releasing it on them smart phone computers?
Edit: this comment made more sense when their comment said that the computer the top commenter is using for reddit should be able to handle hades, including Mac.
Too bad reddit is not on phones.
You and me both, sitting crying and eagerly awaiting.
It's going to be so good.
This warms my heart after the disappointing news yesterday that Slay the Spire 2 will be delayed to next year (ultimately a good thing in the long run).
It's been a wild two weeks. Silksong out, Slay the Spire 2 delayed, Hades 2 release confirmed. Mewgenics also got delayed to February, and I could see some crazy competition between that, StS 2 and Warhammer for my time.
More time into Monster Train 2!
monster train 2 hype! People reading this thread: give it a shot if you haven't, you don't need to play MT1 to thoroughly enjoy MT2!
Good. I have things to do this year.
it's close!!
been holding off playing the early access 1.0 is finally here
Hades 2 will be with us on September 25th.
Hell yeah, only 2 weeks away.
Already played more of 2’s early access than I did the first game, and while I don’t know how widely the opinion will be shared, I enjoy it even more than I did Hades 1, which says a lot because I loved 1.
Keen to start again from the beginning to properly experience the endings the way they’re intended.
(Also that was a really cool animated trailer)
I really enjoyed Hades 1, but I found the run variety a little lacking, particularly since it was always the same bosses every run
Is it the same for Hades 2?
There are multiple routes you can go in Hades 2. As in like Hades one you're always trying to escape so it's the same set of levels. Hades 2 has multiple campaigns you can do and they're very different in flavor.
Run variety within those is absolutely lacking, exact same problem as Hades 1. I love both games, I found Hades 2 to be a bit exhausting because it's a lot.. and it's a slower paced game which really makes those runs feel like they drag sometimes.
I’m the opposite in that so far I much prefer Hades 1, the combat just felt so much better IMO. But I haven’t played H2 since a few big patches ago so I’m very excited to give it a fair shot in 1.0
Some of the hidden aspects will make you feel a little bit more at home. One of them is also completely busted and funny to play with.
I actually enjoy Hades 2's combat way more than 1, and I loved 1.
I haven't played Hades II since it was on its first early access build, so I don't doubt it's improved a lot, and I won't even say I didn't like it or anything, but I did find the weapons far less interesting to use than that of the first game
I haven't played Hades 2 in a while (a long while, actually), but that was my immediate impression as well. I might just be a casual simpleton, but the dash-heavy gameplay of Hades 1 was perfect, and in comparison Hades 2 felt slow and unintuitive.
I'll give it another go when 1.0 drops, obviously.
I liked 1 more at first, but eventually that swapped and I much prefer 2 now that I've gotten better at it.
No double dash and the encounters being designed around that makes combat feel like you need to be much more intentional with your movement. Hades 1 it often felt like you could beat most things by dashing wildly and spamming dash attacks.
I've not played a lot of 2, mostly because I grabbed it when it launched in EA, but I do think Hades II's ability to make the combat feel simultaneously familiar yet clearly distinct enough to have its own flavor is an achievement that doesn't get recognized as often as it should.
Hades II isn't just "more Hades" which would have been the easy way out of a sequel, and it's not "better Hades" because the mix-up in core combat mechanics and toolkit make it a very different gameplay experience. I feel like the preference for one over the other will boil down to individual preference for Zag's more aggressive play style versus Melinoe's more tactical positioning.
I think the story itself is a lot less interesting this time around. It's good still, but Hades 1 did an amazing job in tying each run to the story. Having your final boss be your dad who talks shit to you between runs as they're repairing their relationship was incredible, and I dont think Hades 2 comes close to that.
It's very very good. I loved Hades 1 (story and gameplay). This raises the bar on both fronts IMO and we haven't even seen the proper ending yet
Timed exclusive. Every single one of Supergiant's games has released only on a single console. Every game except one - Pyre - subsequently came to other consoles. And given the first Hades is on everything, this one will come to it all as well.
Not a surprise, Hades 1 was a timed exclusive as well.
The games extensive early access was basically a completed game but for the past year it was pure polishing. Same for Hades 1. It’s how on release the games are so fully featured.
TBF, the earliest releases of Hades 1 were in fact early access, with placeholder art for many characters and major systems (like Heat) still missing. But within like 2-3 major patches they had pretty much fleshed out the complete game, and then spent another year just polishing. Supergiant seems to have this down to a science now.
There currently really isn't any sort of "ending" which is probably the big thing. Game-wise, it's more or less complete, but there's a good chunk of the story missing.
That said, >!there's currently nothing in the game detailing what is going on with the captured characters such as Zag, Nyx, Sisyphus, and Dusa. Whether they'll just be released as part of the story progression or there's more "game" to free them is unknown at this time.!<
Man its been one of the most tempting games to play early but I've waited it out for the switch 2 release i cant wait. First game is one of my absolute favorite of that genre.
Aaarg! Don,t remind me, this looks like a great game that's on my list as well!
I loved what I played, so I stopped until the final version. Same thing with Path of Exile 2. Two greats on the horizon.
The game has been in early access for a LONG time and was looking pretty close to done. Not too shocking that when they finally announced a date it was going to be very soon.
I wouldn't say long compared to most early access games. 1.5 years is a good time to release.
I think E33 should 100% take GOTY.
Hades 2 is great too but it feels so weird since it's been a while since I kind of "finished" that game but only now it's getting officially released.
If I had a nickel for every highly anticipated sequel with a surprise release date drop in September 2025 for two weeks after the announcement, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
I havent played Hades yet. But its next after Silksong for me
What is the release date of Hades 2
As of my last update, Hades II does not have a confirmed release date. However, it was announced during The Game Awards in December 2022, and the developers, Supergiant Games, indicated that they were aiming for a release in 2024.
Key Considerations:
Early Access: Supergiant Games has mentioned that they might release the game in early access before the full launch, similar to how they did with the original Hades.
Platforms: Keep an eye on announcements regarding which platforms Hades II will be available on, as the original was released on PC and Nintendo Switch.
Takeaway: Stay tuned to Supergiant Games' official channels for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the release date and any early access opportunities.
