TL;DR Currently, Hades 2 is available on PC in early access. Console versions, including Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, are expected after the full release, likely taking a year or more.
Early Access on PC
Hades 2 is currently in early access on PC, meaning it is still under development with incomplete features such as placeholder art and unfinished story elements [1:2]. The game needs to fully release before being ported to other platforms, similar to the approach taken with the original Hades
[1:1].
Console Availability
While there is significant interest in console versions of Hades 2, including the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, these will not be available until after the game exits early access [5:1]
[5:2]. Supergiant Games has indicated that ports usually take longer, and they have not yet made any official announcements regarding specific console release dates
[1:3]
[2:4].
Switch and Other Consoles
There is strong anticipation for Hades 2 on the Nintendo Switch, given the success of the first game on this platform [2:1]
[2:3]. However, there is uncertainty about whether the game will target current consoles or newer models like a potential "Super Switch"
[2:5]. Similarly, questions remain about compatibility with last-gen Sony and Microsoft consoles
[2:6].
Expectations and Timeline
The general expectation is that Hades 2 will eventually be available on multiple platforms, but players should anticipate waiting at least a year for console versions [1:2]
[5:1]. Supergiant Games is known for their quality releases, so fans can expect a well-polished product once it becomes available across different systems
[4:2].
Specifically the Switch. I don't have Hades on PC and while I'm excited for the sequel I'm hoping I'll be able to play it eventually.
You’ll have to wait around a year. The game is in early access on PC, meaning it’s not even finished. Plenty of placeholder art is still in use, there’s a whole weapon set that’s not in the game yet, the story isn’t complete, there’s still bugs to be fixed and balance to be tweaked, etc.
I can guarantee you that the full version will be available on every goddamn platform under the sun, but for the next year, you can only play it on PC as a paid beta test of sorts.
The devs said they are working on it, however probably don’t expect the same official launch date as for PC, since ports usually take longer. (And early access is only available on PC ofc.)
99.9% likely
Game needs to fully release first. Hades 1 was a PC exclusive when it was in early access as well if I'm not mistaken. If you can only play on consoles for whatever reason you might have to wait a bit.
Hopefully it’ll be coming to PlayStation I have the first game on both switch and ps5 and I prefer playing on my ps5 cause of my bigger tv
Oh you know it's coming to Switch, they made the good bucks there since us Switch users will buy everything that just about graces the Eshop
Yeah I think the bigger question, and why they’re being vague, is by the time it releases are they going to put it on the last-Gen Sony and Microsoft consoles.
Why should they make clear statements so early in development. I’m sure they assume the consoles are on the menu but they probably haven’t worked out any deals because it’s early. Why promise anything without the deals inked? SGG is a small developer so who cares if they don’t promise the game on every platform before they know for sure that they can do that?
But if they can run it on switch surely a last gen post is all but fairly cut and dry for even a download only
I assume the uncertainty is that if it starts early access next year, and then maybe fully launches in 2024 or something, will the switch be the current Nintendo console or will they want to target a Super Switch or something instead?
This is exactly what was written in the FAQ, for the record.
Hades is a perfect game for switch. Hard to see them passing that console up.
I play on switch myself
I play on my PC, but expect I'll pry play on the Steam Deck quite a bit when that ships.
First switch, then I got it on pc too
Steam, switch & ps5
Mac
Xbox. It’s included with Game Pass, and I can play it on my phone using Cloud Gaming.
Supergiant Games is bringing Hades II to the Switch and Switch 2 today.
'Battle beyond the Underworld using dark sorcery to take on the Titan of Time in this bewitching sequel to the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler. The first-ever sequel from Supergiant Games builds on the best aspects of the original god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in the Underworld of Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.'

Waiting for the physical release, but I heard the game is and runs great
don’t stress, Supergiant Games r literal geniuses, no way they screw it up. just peep their portfolio — pure 🔥, u can tell they put their whole heart in every project.
Yea it can even do 120fps docked
Can it do 120 handheld?
Boo, I guess I'll have to wait a whole damn year for PS5
Hi there, tried searching but the search function is not the best here and I don't wanna deep dive in threads too much as I want to keep spoiler free.
Has there been an update to release dates on other platforms? Found a thread about controller support around 3 weeks ago but that's it.
Really wanna enjoy this on the PS5 like the first game. Just curious if we're talking weeks, months or years. No need to be overly specific on a date.
It's not coming out on consoles in less than a year.
I see, thank you. Time to forget this for a while then :)
Might do
Its not coming out of console til after EA and they have already stated it won't be leaving EA this year at a minimum, probably at year or more
Oh they've stated that about EA. Thank you, I will simply wait and evade the sub and spoilers overall until then.
Battle beyond the Underworld starting September 25, 2025 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
Will the price increase on steam? I’m wondering if I should buy it now while it’s still early access
The price would almost certainly increase at some point but I’d be very surprised if this game didn’t debut at some sale. If it’s discounted now, you might as well snag it. It’s a full game already and the changes they made since release… dramatically changed the game.
Before the entire boom rework, I would’ve described this as a somewhat lesser version of Hades, but now I’d consider the combat a true successor to the first game. Story-wise, it’s not as tight or good as Hades, but it’s a direct sequel from a game that didn’t need it, so it should’ve been expected. I’m just happy I like almost every weapon in this game while in the first I stuck to the gauntlets almost exclusively after unlocking them.
Glad to see a release date. Soon too
Don’t know if you will know this, but will there be anymore content updates after 1.0? Not sure if they did this with hades or not. Either way I’m hype!
Hades 1 didnt have additional content after 1.0 but we cant rule what that hades 2 might be different
I played it an update or two and was pretty disappointed, but maybe I'll come around with the full release. The weapons to me are a HUGE downgrade compared to the ones in the first game, the build crafting overall seems way more punishing with how you really have to get lucky with blessings to get a specific build. I hope they've done a lot of balancing passes because the game felt more frustrating than enjoyable to play.
I did like everything else though, it's just the gameplay that felt pretty lacking
OMG, I am not alone about weapons. The weapons were so bad when I played it when it launched on EA. I mean, the choices were bad. They are all staff and ranged. There were knives and a hammer, but the knives were bad, and the hammer was crazy slow. It's crazy not to have proper melee weapons like a sword, spear, or such..
Yeah I'm not really sure I dig the bigger focus on "magic" and "casting", for one it imho slows down the combat considerably (unless you get REALLY lucky with a build) and it feels like there's just less room for you to feel like, well, a god. That's the fun part of a roguelike and what Hades nailed, when you get a crazy build going and you feel unstoppable.
As I mentioned before, it's super rare to come across this feeling in the sequel and tbh it's just not that fun

Oh, Jesus. So torn about whether to wait for console, or try it out on my potato.
since its on steam u can buy it and refund if its unplayable, just dont go over the 2 hours
Sorry, you're gonna have to buy it twice. Turn on that potato
I, too, am in possession of a weaker laptop.
It just doesn't run. As soon as I start, it crashed with a 'GPU Crashed' error message.
The most painful part is, the game requires an Intel HD 630 and I have a 620.
Nah, wait. The game will be a more finished product then as well
Praise the popoto
Holy shit, i cant believe its finally here!!!
Woo hoo!
WTF is this surprise?!?! How am I supposed to focus on work this week.
Releasing this on a Monday was very cruel lol
THE TIME HAS COME
OMG, take my $$$!
I think Hades I will still be a very good standalone game worth going back to, since Hades II hasn't carried over all the same gods and weapons. If you liked a certain god or weapon in the first game that isn't in the second game, I don't think there are any core gameplay changes significant enough to keep you from going back to the first game. But I only have 2 hours in Hades II so far, maybe I am wrong.
I've been really enjoying Hades 2 but I will certainly go back to a fresh save of Hades for another playthrough of all the story and dialogue.
You can play Hades on your phone. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better mobile game than Hades. 😂
Me with my iphone 7 who can't update apple to the proper ios needed to get Hades 😭.
I’m a mobile gamer, really great on mobile tbh. I can’t think of a better game for mobile
Plus lots of people aren't buying EA for Hades 2 and want to wait. Hades 1 will still get a lot of use out of me (even if I was someone who bought EA for 2, I don't plan to stop playing 1), and others who are waiting for 2's release. Even then, Zagreus is a character people will miss playing as, the game won't just be dropped because it's not a continuation of his story. I can see people going back to see him, Nyx, Than, so on.
Not over yet for me! I will wait for 2 to exit early access and I still haven't got that 32 heat statue on 1
I also haven’t gotten the 32 heat statue but I’m seriously enjoying Hades II
Now Hades 2 is out, he’s finally going to get a break from the River Styx
It’s literally on a list of all timers for me. I’ve been gaming since 1988 and Hades is truly on a very short list of perfect video games.
Are you me? I've also been gaming from about '88 (can't remember precisely as I was preschool age), and Hades is one of the very few, if any, games that I would give a 10/10.
Even then, it's not my favourite game of all time, just that it is truly flawless.
I was born in '93 and have had time to beat ~350 games and have played just over 500 total. I'm pretty stingy with 10/10s too but Hades is definitely one of the masterpieces that I agree deserve it.
Games like Hades is where handhelds especially shine. It looks even betted on the Deck since the OLED makes the colors pop and you get almost a 90fps lock with ~5hr battery life too. It's an indie gaming beast.
I agree, mad fun and the game is absolutely gorgeous!
I am on my completionist arc where I am farming N-mares to max out my aspects and finishing bonding with all NPCs

I tried playing hades I liked it for first few hours but then I felt like I was just spamming not a bad game at all I loved the dialogues but just not meant for me I really wanted to like it🥲
Echt?
Wirklich alles ist absolut on point. Teil 1 ist eines meiner absoluten Lieblingsspiele und nach ~8 Stunden in Teil 2 bin ich absolut begeistert.
