What Redditors are Saying

Best Tall E-Bike for a 6'8" Rider

When it comes to selecting an e-bike suitable for someone who is 6'8", finding the right fit can be challenging due to the limited availability of larger frame sizes. However, there are several considerations and recommendations from tall riders that might help in making a decision.

Frame Size Considerations

For very tall individuals, such as those around 6'8", standard bike shops may not carry frames large enough to test ride comfortably. Most bikes available in stores typically don't exceed 61cm frames, which are often too small for someone of your height [2:1], [2:3]. It is advisable to consult with local bike shops to see if they can order a larger frame for you to try out before purchasing [2:2].

Recommended Brands and Models

Several brands and models have been recommended by tall riders:

  • Rad Power Bikes: The Radrunner series has mixed reviews for taller riders. While some users around 6'2" find the RadRunner 3 Plus comfortable [1:1], others at 6'5" or taller feel it might be too small, describing it as feeling like riding a "kids bike" due to its small wheels and upright posture [1:5].

  • Trek Domane AL 3 Disc: This model was considered by a 6'10" rider, although it's noted that a 61cm frame may not be sufficient for someone of that height [2:3].

  • Canyon Bikes: Some commenters mentioned Canyon bikes, specifically the XL and XXL sizes, as being more suitable for taller riders [2:5], [2:11].

  • DirtySixer Bikes: Specifically designed for very tall people, these bikes cater to individuals up to 7'5". However, they are known to be expensive and currently out of stock [2:7].

Customization Options

If off-the-shelf options are limited, customizing a bike could be a viable solution. While some suggest that modifying an XL frame with longer seat posts and stems might work [2:9], others argue that a bike purpose-built for taller individuals will offer a better ride [3:4]. Custom bike builders, like Dirtysixer, specialize in creating bikes for very tall people, though they come at a higher price point [2:7].

Additional Recommendations

For those standing around 6'8", seeking out brands that offer XXL sizes is a good start. For instance, the Santa Cruz Hightower LT in XXL size has been recommended for riders up to 6'8" [3:2]. Additionally, the Trek Emonda offers a 64cm frame which might be worth considering for comfort [2:12]. It's crucial to ensure a proper bike fit, possibly with adjustments like a longer seat post or stem, to accommodate your height [2:9].

In summary, while finding a tall e-bike can be challenging, exploring various brands and models, considering custom builds, and ensuring a proper fit can lead to a satisfying cycling experience for taller individuals.

I just want to share my new summer-romance story. Inspired by The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Here’s the short blurb: That summer, Amelia thought it was just another move. But Cove Beach feels different—like home. Between two boys and a summer that could change everything, she has to figure out where she belongs… and who she’s willing to risk her heart on.

you can read it FOR FREE on wattpad

I’m an aspiring writer, so any comments, feedback, or even just a read would mean the world to me. 🌸

Looking for books that feel like the summer I turned pretty. Books that feel like a magical teenage summer, with boys who’ve known you your whole life suddenly seeing you in a different way, suddenly feeling like a main character in your own story.

Call Me By Your Name by Andre Acimen has that teenage summer feeling, but with an adult partner. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but the prose is beautiful and the writing is heartbreakingly good.

Okay but can we just take a sec to appreciate how rare it is for a book adaptation to actually feel like the words came alive?? Most of the time we’re left heartbroken because the movie/show butchers everything we loved on paper.

But with The Summer I Turned Pretty… OMG. Jenny Han really gave us book girlies the ultimate gift. It makes me giddy, it gives me butterflies, it’s like reading the book but instead it’s actually alive and playing out right in front of my eyes. The vibes, the feelings, the little details they just hit.

This is the kind of adaptation that reminds you why you fell in love with reading in the first place 🥹

I fully agree. I’ve seen some posts and comments where people are saying there have been so many changes from the books to the tv show and it is utterly perplexing to me. I feel like this adaptation is one of the truest to the original source material I’ve ever seen. Almost nothing has been taken out. The vast majority of changes have just been additions. But what’s beautiful is that the changes would have been added by the author, Jenny Han, so the changes are all enhancements that she wishes she had been able to include in the books. The fact that we’re getting some of the most iconic scenes verbatim from the books is absolutely a dream come true. And don’t even get me started on how Chris Briney IS Conrad. The cast is killing it!

I just read the first book and was impressed to see how they took this chance not only to make the world created in the books come alive, but also expand it. It was a really good balance of following exactly the core of the story and what already worked and adding more.

I haven’t waited like 13 years since the final book came out not to see Conrad and Belly come together

12 year old me would cry

I have suffered through Jelly scene after Jelly scene, I have suffered through all the pain of each character

The fact it could end with no one pains me…

In the real world I would get it but it’s a romantic tv show don’t do this to me 😭

This is just some random screenwriter and not anyone associated with the show - don’t despair! Belly can still choose herself in Paris and grow up a bit and then go back to Conrad.

The Summer I Turned Pretty book is very different to the show

Posted by [deleted] · in r/RomanceBooks · 3 years ago

⚠️SPOILERS, SORRY IDK HOW TO DO THE GREYED OUT THING ⚠️

So I watched the show before I read the book and I was so shocked when reading the book because of how different it was.

No Cotillion No relationship between belly and Jeremiah Stephen wasn’t even there No group of girl friends Jeremiah and Conrad knew about their mothers illness the whole time No author guy for Belly’s mum No fishing job for Conrad No appearance of Conrad and Jeremiahs father with a new girl Her best friend didn’t go to visit in current year

There are many more aspects but I’d be here all day writing a list.

Why is it so different?? Ive only read the first book but I can’t see how some of these parts would be integrated into the story since they’re integral for relationship development that has already happened. I’m just shocked how different it is, it’s as if the only similar thing is that they all have the same names.

Has anyone else been confused by this? Which did you prefer, the book or the series? I think I preferred the series but I was glad there was no cotillion in the book because that was boring af.

I read the book first (just the first of the series), and I much preferred the series. I think in the show Belly was much more likeable. I don’t love all the changes they made but I had more fun watching the show than reading the book. Also, Jeremiah’s got some moves 😂

I haven’t read these books, but lately every tv adaptation of a book or series of books, has had some pretty dramatic changes. For example, Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias and Firefly Lane all have major differences in the tv shows, almost to the point where the shows seem more inspired by the books.

The author wrote the book like over a decade ago, so I think she just has fleshed out the story since then.

There just wasn’t enough material in the books to fill a series so they had to create more subplots. I think the author is the creator of the series though, so the changes are faithful to the author’s vision

25 upvotes on reddit
[deleted] · 3 years ago

Yeah that makes sense. Surely they could ah e combined the content of all three books or something to get more material? Or included all the flashbacks that aren’t included in the show? I don’t mind either I think they were both good, I was just so shocked at how different they were!

i get what you are saying. ive read this series twice, once like 5 years ago and again about 2 years ago. As i was watching it i was making corrections in my head. Yes its still great and i love how han did both, but i dont like how mainstream it is compared to the book. It doesnt feel like it changed completely, nor belly, but it changed enough to the point that its almost disarranged and muddling the character.

Agree 1000%. This was NOT necessary and if it was handled properly the Jellies would have been connected to the story just to see Jere's growth instead of obsessing if he was going to be THE one. Jere could have been an early obstacle but them moved on with someone else and had a completely health arc.

Belly and Conrad could have gone through turbulence but eventually would be together. We did NOT need chaos!
