Hey I’m in town this weekend with family. What would you all consider the best brunch in Boston? A place that has a mix of good food and good drinks. Somewhere you would take a mid-day nap after going. Thanks in advance ❤️.
It's Monument in Charlestown for me. If you're in the city proper, it's easy enough to get to via the orange line. Will almost certainly need a reservation though. Amazing food and good cocktails as well
This is my fave too. Also like Lucy’s in Dorchester (love the cinnamon pancakes and the boozy coffee drinks).
I hate brunch bc of crowds but this place is so good at managing them
I had a great brunch here about 12 months ago then a diabolic dinner (had to wait 45 mins for my pre booked table then cold not great food). Won’t return
Cafe Luna in Cambridge
North Street Grill in the North End
My other fave aside from Monument. Love the lobster omelet!
Their Nutella French toast (if they still have it!) is fire!
I used to live in the North End and I just don’t get the hype. There is always a huuuuuge line too! We went once and it just felt like a regular diner. Maybe we didn’t pick good dishes or something
Henrietta’s in Cambridge is pretty epic.
Their Sunday brunch buffet is delicious!!
Believe it or not, it’s actually Brassica in JP. Chicken+waffles and v overpriced drinks that are p good too
Hey everyone, I am flying in from Chicago to visit a friend in Connecticut Sunday morning, and an trying to find a place to grab brunch on our way back to Connecticut. He has asked that I keep it with easy access from I-90, but I think I could convince him to go off that if it's still easy to get to from the airport (he just doesn't want to drive in Boston). Any suggestions would be great!
Eli’s in Natick would be an easy detour. Delicious breakfast!
Reins deli at the Ma/ct border on 84. The Stockbridge inn in Sturbridge. (That name doesn’t look right but it’s famous). Pretty easy on off pike I think.
There's no easy on-off from the turnpike in Boston proper because most exits are only eastbound and most entrances are only westbound. I would suggest getting out to Framingham.
I've done a bit of looking this morning and was drawn to looking for a place in Watertown (my hometown in a different state) and wa thinking that going somewhere that's out of the center of the city would be doable? Any thoughts/suggestions there?
Are you looking for brunch in Boston or somewhere between Boston and somewhere (???) in Connecticut?
I agree with the other poster it would be a little easier to keep it quick and easy access if you are further out to at least Framingham. A few random things I would suggest just based on what I happen to know: Donut Stand in Hopkinton (technically of 495 but it's just a tiny bit past 90 there), Worcester is full of cute streetcar diners that could be good options, Rein's Deli in Vernon CT right off 84 is great but might be a bit further from Boston than you want.
Otherwise I might look around google maps/reviews in Worcester and Framingham and see what looks good. Those will both be easier to navigate than Boston.
anyone have recommendations?
cafe luna, Brookline Lunch
F in chat for Friendly Toast
(Brookline Lunch is amazing their french toast is great!)
Oh no what happened to friendly toast!? We moved away a few years back.
The location in Kendall shut down back in August, in part because so few people were around during the pandemic :(
>Friendly Toast owner Scott Pulver told Boston.com that he made the decision to close because of uncertainty as to when students and workers would return to the Kendall Square area in full force.
>“The bodies just aren’t there,” Pulver said. “I was walking through Harvard Square the other day, and there was like seven people there. We’ve reopened five of our six stores. We’re still a strong brand, we’re still doing really good sales elsewhere. But Cambridge is a ghost town.”

Also for City Girl Cafe :-(
F
Friendly toast still has a Back Bay location, although that is less convenient
Andala doesn't do any specific "brunch" but it's a good place to go at brunch time for a change of pace from the usual.
Shy Bird is surprisingly good for brunch and we headed there whenever we were hungover from parties, lol. They have nice brunch cocktails and the standard savory fare but with optional chicken additions.
Cafe Luna is pretty good
Mamelah’s. Hands down.
Christopher’s is great but closed for the pandemic.
Mamelahs tastes good, but the portion sizes are tiny in my opinion
Hey, Boston Reddit. I'm meeting a friend on Sunday for brunch, somewhere in Back Bay. Any recommendations? Thanks.
Stephanie's is quite nice, they'd be my go-to. I had a good experience at Eva as well. Might also be worth checking out Sonsie, I've not been there at brunch but when I came for a company event years back, they seemed to have good food.
Friendly Toast
Great place but good luck getting in. Waitlist is like an hour and a half unless you go when they first open. Worth it though if you can wait!
I like Buttermilk and Bourbon for brunch. I took my boyfriend to Contessa for brunch for his birthday, unique place but very pricey.
They have excellent Jalapeño cheese grits
Abe & Louie’s
I'm a big fan of Cafe Landwer!!
Hello.
I’m stuck in Boston for work tonight and am looking for coffee/breakfast places that I can work and hang out at.
I’m staying in seaport but can uber anywhere in the morning.
Suggestions appreciated!!
Thanks
I love Revival Cafe & Kitchen - one on Milk St near Govt Center and another just opened in Ft Point depending on where you are!
Flour has excellent pastries - their sticky sticky buns and their sugared brioche rolls are phenomenal.
There's one right around the corner from the children's museum.
Vester in the Crispr building; it's in Southie, so you can walk/ Uber or take the 11 bus.
Highly recommend Work from Shybird in Southie. $19.95, includes breakfast or lunch & unlimited coffee. You do need a res.
Or Fenway!
Lol here right now! Such a good spot. The fried chicken Caesar wrap goes crazy
Calabrian fried chicken wrap is my jam!! I always ask for them to make it at dinner, since it’s lunch menu only. Also…bird bath!!
It’s a good deal but their food has gotten so mediocre.
Tatte in seaport is what you are looking for.
Went this morning, was cool!
My sisters are visiting from out of town to take me out today and are meeting me in JP because they know how to get there.
I qas looking for a restaraunt that filled the niche Sorella's and Centre St Cafe left behind but no luck. So far, everything I see so far is either fairly expensive or seems fast foodish. Nothing wrong about any of that but can't find a place right in the neighborhood that seems like a pretty good meal, leaving time to sit and visit, not especially high priced.
Any recommendations?
Brassica Kitchen for brunch. You wont regret it
Brassica is the best for brunch but it will likely be a long wait to get in without a reservation (and it’s pretty cold for standing around outside). Their Saturday-Sunday brunch menu is pretty prominently located on their website.
I looked at their website yesterday and there was no Sunday menu or hours. Maybe I read it wrong because today there is.
Haven isn’t crazy cheap but I liked their brunch last time I had it
Their food is sooo good! And I believe they just opened a bar inside now, so not sure if they’re doing brunch “drinks” or not. Otherwise, the breakfast smash burger is not to be missed!
I used to live near Evergreen. It was a great spot during the pandemic, always quick and delicious. EXCEPT:
It was an unseasonably warm sunday: April 18, 2021, the first day of Hot Vax Summer one might say. I ordered an omelette from them bc Ula was randomly closed.
When I got there I hadn’t seen so many people in one place since 2019. Like every millennial or old GenZ in JP AND Roxbury had decided to come to evergreen on that glorious Sunday.
I waited an hour and fifteen for that omelette. They comped me a cookie at least.
It is on my walk to work so Ive gotten a sandich there some weekday mornings. I have not found it to be a pleasant place to sit inside and talk. Do you have weekend experience?
I went there once with my friends and we did the Sunday crossword while we ate, stayed for a while. Definitely chill on the weekends
All the places mentioned are good but tres gatos is also great. Though better when you can eat outdoors
JPizle Kitchen has good brunch and the folks are very friendly!
What are your favorite breakfast spots and menu items?
Edit: Thanks for all the recommendations. I’m going to visit every single place except iHop.
Zoe’s does a nice classic diner breakfast-all-day, and +1 to Tatte
I had to scroll way too far to find Zoe’s.
I absolutely love this little coffee shop called Darwins on Putnam street, slightly outside the square and inside this mixed-use building that has a very relaxing, cozy vibe.
Great sandwiches!
lowkey the best option is still Jefes
Thanks for reminding me to try this! I always forget they have a breakfast menu!!!!
^^^ Go Jefes. Places like Darwin's are what they are, but you won't remember the food afterwards; it's about as memorable as IHOP (and often worse) at x3 the cost.
A lot of the food is just broken around here where the high rents haven't translated into expensive yet amazing quality or expensive yet amazing value since food costs aren't usually the biggest factor. Darwin's has no reason to charge $3 for a plain piece of toast lol
FAXS
Flour
I second Tatte, Zoe's and Flour. I add Black Sheep Bagel Cafe.
[removed]
Go to Louis Corner, literally just opened.
Weirdly Boston is largely a Sunday brunch only kind of town but I like black lamb, kava and MIDA and they are all open tomorrow (just can’t guarantee brunchy menu)
Pizza talia on 618 shawmut ave, South end 👌👍

I like Eva on Newbury st for brunch.
Any recommendations for an elevated brunch in Boston?
Row 34
I’ve read good things about the one at Four Seasons One Dalton.
Cici’s Cafe, The Nook, Blu Jam, all on Ventura Blvd. Joe’s Cafe in Granada Hills.
the owner of joe's is (apparently) a huge racist bigot
He is. Verified by former staff and patrons and several videos
I really liked Basecamp in Burbank. There's also Cafe de Olla, Porto's has decent breakfast for the price, and The Castaway if you're feeling fancy.
Don't bother with Cafe de Olla.
It's good don't get me wrong but you'll probably have a 2 hour wait and they don't do reservations.
Same with Mexcocina.
Edit: I was lucky that I ate at those two restaurants before they got so popular and I loved the chilaquiles divorciados (half red/half green sauce) as well as their coffee but everytime I pass by there are always people standing outside waiting.
They make money and I wish they would at least put chairs for people to sit while waiting.
Yeah that's true you have to be willing to wait. We don't anymore because kids would get too grumpy. Mexcocina is not worth the wait, the food was just disappointing when we went :/
I like Nat's Early Bite if I'm rolling solo, and More Than Waffles if I've got a date, or like my bros are in the neighborhood or something.
Leo & Lily on Ventura in Woodland Hills. Guarantee you'll drive past it like three times before you find it if you haven't been there before. It's actually on a side street. Nice outdoor dining, great food.
I agree about Cici's in Tarzana on Ventura as well.
love that place but its a parking nightmare on the weekends lol
So true. And awesome name!
More than Waffles!
