TL;DR
Recommended Models
The Lenovo Legion 5 is frequently mentioned as a top choice for budget gaming laptops due to its balance of price and performance. It's praised for being an all-around "budget beast" that offers great value [3:2]
[3:3]. Additionally, the Acer Nitro and ASUS TUF series are recommended if you can find models with an RTX 4060 under $1,000, as they tend to sell out quickly
[3:3].
Specifications to Consider
For budget gaming laptops, it's important to consider specifications that will provide a smooth gaming experience. A GPU like the GTX 3050 Ti or RTX 4060 is suggested for handling modern games at medium to high settings [5:1]
[5:7]. While VRAM limitations can be a concern for future-proofing, current budget options often come with 8GB of VRAM, which should suffice for most current games
[5:6].
Sales and Deals
Keeping an eye on sales events can help in securing a good deal on a gaming laptop. For instance, Dell's Labor Day sale was highlighted as an opportunity to get significant discounts on their laptops, including gaming models [2]. Signing up for newsletters from manufacturers can also provide additional discounts or early access to sales
[2].
Considerations for Future-Proofing
While it might be tempting to buy a laptop now with the hope of running future games like GTA6, it's important to note that game requirements can change significantly over time. As such, investing in a laptop with higher specs, even if slightly above your current budget, might save you from needing to upgrade sooner than expected [5:4]
[5:6].
Budget Constraints and Alternatives
If you're constrained by budget, considering refurbished or used models could be a viable option. Platforms like Amazon and eBay offer these options, and they can still provide satisfactory performance for less demanding games [3:1]. Additionally, saving up or looking into international markets for better deals might be worth exploring
[5:5].
8 GB Ram is not recommended for this age. Always go with at least 12 and above.
Vram*
16gb as new game requirement
If I can cut the cost on ssd, rgb etc
Later upgrade them
But make sure psu is 850 to 1000w And ram ddr5, ddr4 production almost stopped they are going to rare and expensive
750W PSU is more than enough even for 1440p gaming depending on what gpu to get. One will only need 850w+ if going for 5070ti and above.
Upgrading in future cost a lot for psu
Really dumb to put a 850w on a 5060 system. Literally works on 500w

I have to buy a laptop and I’m in computer engineering but I have no idea which one would be best? Is the $584 one good then?
If that is what you can afford then yes the $584 should be good for engineering as you can the intel arc 140v which is a great iGPU and should handle most CAD and engineering softwares like solid works and the like.
Thank you so much!
I keep seeing think pad stuff so just would like some assurance
This one might be the better deal for a 5060 laptop
Oh wow this is a totally good deal, thank you for the find!!! 5060 definitely a good chunk better than the 5050
looks like the base model of the 14 Plus went up to $750? $675 with 10% off?
Yes you are right, seems like price jumped over night
awe shucks. looking for my friend, who will be watching tv/movies on it. So maybe I should find a laptop with a more vibrant screen anyway
Thanks! I saw this “Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 14" WUXGA Touchscreen Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 7 155U, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 11 Pro “ on Amazon for $2300 CAD
So your suggestion sounds great. I like the 14” screen for travel and carbon for lighter weight. I’m not sure if the specs I mentioned can be purchased with the sale promos you mentioned for a much better deal from Lenovo and I’m not sure that I need a Gen 12...
Thank you! Do you have any tips on sales at this time for ThinkPad for prof use (non video editing no games)?
Tbh this would be my favorite ThinkPad deal right now for professional use. Amazing battery life, good processor, decent iGPU if you need it. And since its a ThinkPad its easy to upgrade ram, SSD, wifi card. Replace battery, etc.
So which ever screen size you want. If you need more ram, its best to just upgrade it later as it will be cheaper then and more storage later too. But if you are not gaming or video editing then don't think you need much more storage.
I’ve been going in circles for the past couple of weeks trying to figure out what the best affordable gaming laptop actually is right now. Every time I look up recommendations, half the lists are outdated or filled with models that are either too expensive or impossible to find in stock. What I really want is something that balances decent gaming performance with a price tag that doesn’t make my wallet cry.
For context, I’m not looking for a crazy high-end rig. I just want a machine that can handle modern games like Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, or even newer shooters at 1080p on medium to high settings without sounding like it’s about to take off. That’s why I keep searching for what people consider the best budget gaming laptop in 2025 — a device that doesn’t necessarily have all the bells and whistles of a $2,000+ machine, but still gives me solid frame rates and doesn’t overheat in the first hour.
Some people say the Acer Nitro series is still one of the best affordable gaming laptop options because you can usually find it under $900 and it has a decent cooling system. Others swear by the ASUS TUF line since it’s built tough, performs well, and often goes on sale. I’ve also seen mentions of Lenovo Legion 5, which many people argue is the best budget gaming laptop overall because of its performance-to-price ratio and comfortable keyboard for longer sessions.
Battery life isn’t a huge concern for me since I’ll mostly be plugged in, but I do care about things like build quality and fan noise. A lot of “cheap” gaming laptops cut corners there, and I don’t want something that feels like it’ll break in a year. I also wouldn’t mind a slightly higher price point if it means I’m getting better longevity — because in my eyes, the best affordable gaming laptop is the one that won’t need to be replaced after just one year of use.
So what do you all think? For someone who just wants reliable 1080p gaming without paying a premium, which models do you consider the best budget gaming laptop or the best affordable gaming laptop in 2025? Would love to hear some personal experiences and actual use cases, because spec sheets only tell half the story.
Legion 5 pro has been great, and comes with great software (I'm a dev and avid gamer, i've used it for everything)
Legion 5 still holds the crown for best all-around budget beast imo. If you spot a Nitro or TUF with a 4060 under $1k, snag it fast. They vanish quick.
Damn that’s a read. Anyway, I like tuf and LOQ. If you can afford a legion 5, that’s way better than
I'm looking for the same thing, except I don't want to play Elden Ring or Cyberpunk on it. Just some RTS games and top down RPGs like Diablo 4. It sounds like your budget (from the ones you mention above) is much higer than mine. I'm looking to spend around $450, so I'm also in the market for used/refurbised models. I just don't know what to look for and where to look besides Amazon and Ebay.
if you are in US all major brands MSI, ASUS, GIGABYTE, LENOVO, HP, DELL have good options. the best option is the system with the best graphic card in your budget
I been wanting to buy a gaming laptop with low budget that could maybe run GTA6 🤡🤡. So there I go researching what specs might I need, what fits in my budget, something not out of date, something reliable without any worry for bad hardware. After all this tiresome days gone I find smtg that might just be it.
But guess what even with a i9 hx cpu and GPU 5060, you still can't run GTA6 🤡. No u can't, not even on 4070(that is the highest I could go even in fantasy). Why, say, VRAM
And OH MY GOD, did I ever thought a fucking VRAM limitation would ever let me run some games at high settings. Like just whyyyy😭😭😭😭 I didn't even knew GPU was so important for smooth gameplay till last month and today it's not even that maybe Tommorow there could be something new that is gonna stop low budget gamers to enjoy high graphics games.
Hello guys , I have been searching for a good gaming laptop all day (with the help of ChatGPT and yt reviews and rn I’m going through a loop and just cannot decide.) I’d rather it be under 5000lei (1000usd) and for it to have decent storage. I would prefer 1TB but I heard thats not easy to find and extra pricey and considering the fact that I also need to get Windows 11 installed makes my search a tad more difficult. So , 512GB , for it to be able to run high graphic games like (Dead by Daylight or RDR2) and I wish the battery life was great but considering that every review said that isn’t really possible for a gaming laptop and for it to not overheat to the point where I can cook an egg on it. (Either ASUS or Lenovo would be awesome🤗)
What do you wanna say?
That I want a budget gaming laptop recommendation. Sorry if I didnt mention it before
Gta6 for PC is probably a 2027 launch. You really shouldn't be looking at a laptop now for something 2 years in the future.
Well, i have a 4050 and i can still play any games i want, but not on ultra high settings. I have a 14 inch laptop so i don't really need a 4k and extra smooth experience. If you don't have money, learn to settle with either a medium quality gameplay or don't game at all.
Gawreeb ko apne aukat dikhadi 😔😔😔..
Give up on my dreams and die???
Nigga you ain't Levi🥀🥀
If your dreams are so important, try to either save up for a few years (my saving up for the Asus tuf A14 took one and a half years) or try importing your laptop from other countries. It may cause some problems with warranty, but you can get the same stuff cheaper in other regions.
GTA6 hasn't been released, we don't know what it will need. It'll probably run on 8 GB VRAM.
I agree of course that it's better to have 12 or 16 GB VRAM - but the way laptop makers are pricing their laptops is to charge around 2x for a 5070 Ti 12GB laptop vs a 5050/5060 8GB, so they are making 12 GB laptops overpriced for what you get in terms of numbers. So yeah, they are both equally bad?
Well not on HIGH ENOUGH GRAPHICS that I could see them racks jiggle when the MCs do the forbidden acts😶🙃
Jiggle physics for all!
I just got a budget laptop! A used 3050ti. And I am amazed at how good it works. Runs my DayZ at 100 fps on med graphics. Very happy with it!
Happy for you bro,
Do let us know when you try AAA games with high settings
I mainly play league so i’m looking for something that will run league with fps above 120. I’m a beginner with laptops/computers so i’m not too sure how they work. i don’t think i took very good care of my old laptop and the inside might be a little fried. so what else should i get to help maintain my laptop’s performance? my budget for the laptop itself is anything under $1000. I’ve heard some good things about the MSI thin, any insight on that? and i will most likely be buying from best buy
Hey u/sophieclair
I'd really recommend the Acer Nitro 5, it's equipped with a 4050 for plenty of gpu power and 144hz screen to complement that. I've had it for awhile and absolutely love it, the MSI Thin 63 is also supreme from what i've heard, this article covers both really well.
Goodluck!
MSI Thin 63 is legit, i've had mine for as long as i can remember lol, thanks for the article.
Lenovo loq rtx 4060
Ignore the one with the CPU 7435HS
or 7235HS

holy crapping steal
Best according to who? It's a trash laptop, there have been cheaper 4050 options that are higher quality lol
Hi! I start collage in a few months, I’ll be majoring in computer science and I’m looking for a laptop that can handle both coding and programming, along with some medium gaming (the sims).
Is this your max can you push your budget higher?
the highest I can go is $650
Hello all, thanks for any help you can provide!
My desktop is on it's last legs and I'm looking to get a gaming laptop to replace it, my max budget is $1333 but I wouldn't be offended at spending less. I need 32gb of memory minimum for video editing. The main benchmark game I'm interested in is Baldur's Gate 3 (high performance), other than that I'm mostly a retro gamer, unsure of how much VRAM I need. The only laptop I've been able to find that fits my criteria so far is this one, the MSI Delta 15. I would probably buy it today if I could get an opinion on it's ability to run BG3, also if it has an extra internal HD slot.
Thanks again!
If you are in USA, then you can get better. The Delta is old hardware.
GPU seems to be lower wattage on both.
https://nanoreview.net/en/laptop-compare/gigabyte-aero-16-vs-gigabyte-a16?m=c%7e4050.d%7e2.g%7e4272.r%7e32-and-c%7e2583.d%7e1.g%7e4272.r%7e32
However, id say this one is better, has OLED, is a pretty good brand.
use the codes EXTRAFIVE & BUYMORELENOVO, while configuring it with 32GB & 1TB. It has 2 SSD slots. Should be 1161$ for a midrange RTX 5060 laptop.
Thanks for the reply! I forgot to mention I'll be using this laptop as a desktop replacement so things like screen quality, keyboard etc don't matter to me. I am in the US. I'll take a look at those links when I get home.
Even then, the legion is pretty much ahead, its what i would recommend.
Though hmmm, desktop replacement?
https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/configurator/cto/index.html?bundleId=83LTCTO1WWUS1
Theres this, significantly better multicore performance with double the cores, though much shorter battery life. Also more expensive. Not sure you'll need that kind of CPU though, as the 260 is already quite capable.
Theres a 5070, but its above your imposed max budget by 50$ so not recommending that.
May I ask why 1333 and not 1350 or 1300?
Inflation.
One of my biggest dilemma at this point right now.
I am looking to buy a new gaming laptop which I would like to use for work, portable and have good specs as well. I'm upgrading from a asus zenbook 13 blahlabhlahhlahlh, you get the point.
My budget is 2900-3500 aed.
I want good decent specs, portability (maybe 14' or 15' at max), a good screen and good speakers.
Please do give your suggestions and why you think that suggestion is the best.
Trusted location or site that I could purchase your suggestion from.
Thank You!
The LOQ 8845HS 4060 sometimes go on sale down to 3500 in Microless. Right now its 3950 but if you can time it properly and catch it on sale, this model is good to go.
why do you suggest this product
with your budget, you are lucky to get 4060 already with that price, plus this is high end budget laptop.
Isn’t the LOQ has a problem with their motherboard?
I just said that is the best option for his budget or try TUF A14 4050 at 3400 AED atm.
As per reviews, most of the issues are on Intel versions and also in India. Even I asked in this subreddit if anyone experienced MOBO issues but no one has. But given the reviews, its hard to pass on it. Just hope luck is with you and you don't get the MOBO issue. Anyways, all laptops will have their own issues.
