TL;DR Some of the best gaming laptops available at Best Buy under $1200 include the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, Gigabyte A5, and Lenovo Legion 5. Each offers a balance of performance and value for gamers.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is frequently recommended across discussions as a solid choice for gaming under $1200. It features an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics, and a 144Hz display, making it suitable for high-performance gaming [3:1]
[5:1]. The laptop is praised for its compact design and powerful internals, although some users have noted potential thermal issues
[3:8].
Gigabyte A5
Another popular option is the Gigabyte A5, which is available for around $900 at Best Buy. This laptop includes a Ryzen 5 5600H CPU, RTX 3060 GPU, and a 1TB SSD, providing excellent value for the price. Users report good performance in games like Witcher 3 and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice at 1080p60fps with ray tracing enabled [3:2]. Cooling solutions such as external coolers can be used to manage temperatures during intensive gaming sessions
[3:6].
Lenovo Legion 5
The Lenovo Legion 5 is also recommended, particularly for its RTX 3070 graphics card, priced at $1150 [3:5]. This laptop is known for its robust build quality and gaming performance, making it a reliable choice for gamers looking for a laptop that can handle demanding titles.
Acer Predator Triton 500 SE
For those seeking a slightly higher-end option within budget, the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE is available at Best Buy for $1200. It features an Intel Core i7 processor and RTX 3060 graphics, along with a high-resolution 165Hz display [3:3]. Although this model pushes the upper limit of the budget, it offers a premium gaming experience.
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
While these models are highly recommended, it's important to consider your specific needs, such as portability, battery life, and additional features like screen size and resolution. Visiting a Best Buy store to physically test the laptops or consulting with sales representatives can provide further insights into which model best fits your requirements.
Hey, Can anyone recommend some good gaming laptops for $1200 or below? I have $100 breathing room but preferably anything at or below $1200 usd would be good!

I want to buy a gaming laptop from Best Buy but I’m not sure if there are any within my budget. My budget is around 500-700.
gaminglaptop.deals, dont go for msi
it's my first time buying gaming laptop so i don't really know what to choose but i need something very good at 1200$ or less
I recently bought this for $900 - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/gigabyte-a5-15-6-fhd-laptop-ryzen-5-5600h-16gb-ddr4-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-1tb-ssd/6508547.p?skuId=6508547
Been testing it, throwing some games at it at 1080p and trying to max them out.
The Ascent and Hellblade: SS are two games that I can get running at 1080p60fps at max with RT On and DLSS On.
Witcher 3 runs fine too, hitting 1080p60fps no problem - at 80-90 Celsius if I max-out. Turn off Hairworks and some other unnecessary stuff - 50-60 degrees and locked it to 50fps.
Holy shit. Thank god. I wanted to know a lot stuff about this laptop because I just can’t find reviews on it. How’s the cooling? And when you play games how do you make sure the gpu runs at 130W? How’s the screen? Would greatly appreciate if you let me know.
Not using the built-in screen, TBH. I have this connected to my 25'' 240hz 1080p G-Sync ViewSonic Monitor; I'm using that.
Keep in mind, I'm also throwing on this thing both a Klim+ Vacuum-like cooler thing (on the vent on the right) and a TopMate C12 Laptop Cooler (with 3 small fans and 3 big fans).
The Ascent and Hellblade: SS been in the 70-80 degrees Celsius department, at the settings I mentioned above.
I haven't done any fine-tuning on making sure it runs at 130W and all - but this is all at stock and while plugged in.
I should note, just looking at the big Chicony brick/power supply here - that's 230W.
Those have major thermal issues, reaching 105c easily, trust me the acer gaming laptops suck
Lenovo Legion 5 with RTX 3070 for $1150
This years G14 with 6700S looks good
I tried to use the form but I couldn’t copy it on my iPad, and the mobile version acted Very Suspiciously. I’ll try and be brief.
Short backstory: I was replacing a MacBook Pro, and I ended up deciding to get a PS5 and an iPad. Sadly, after a few days of using the PS5 it became clear that using the controller was messing with my joints too much and now I’ll have to return it. So now I need a gaming laptop because desktops don’t work for me.
However since I am keeping the iPad for travel, this laptop does not need to be light or mobile whatsoever. The materials don’t have to be the most sturdy because I’ll barely move it. I would like a good screen but it doesn’t have to be the most amazing, and a solid, more mechanical-style keyboard is a plus. I’ll be using it on a lap desk in a recliner so using secondary monitor or keyboard is not applicable.
For the insides I need to be able to play AAA games at at least middling quality, and have a big hard drive to be able to fit those games. I will not be playing however any high impact combat games, FPS, or do end game raiding or PVP on MMOs.
Here’s the only requirement: Must be available at BestBuy since that’s where I have my money. Thanks!

After some tweaks , I got the ryzen 7 350 one for $1215.
You can also check out this Gigabyte Aero X16 for 1100 usd. It has CPU AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8GB, 16-inch IPS 1600p 165Hz display (with practical 16:10 aspect ratio, 400 nits brightness, 100% sRGB color gamut), backlit keyboard, and Windows 11 Home.
I'm a console player and I want to switch to a PC, but because my life is hectic and I have to move around often, maybe a laptop would be better.
I would like recommendations up to $1200

My minimum requirement is RTX 3060 and a good CPU. I don't know kuch about CPU's please help. It's kinda urgent.
Hello, this is the best one you can get at $1200. Apply BTS2022 on checkout.
Could you tell me if it has international warranty? It's costing me 1189$ with the coupon. It's a good deal imo.
Its AWESOME deal :-) dunno about warranty. There os support chat you can use for live support contact. Try asking there.
Asus rog zephyrus g15 for 1199 ( all round best)
Could you pls share the link? Thanks
Best Buy has a couple good deals at the moment.
Here’s a Gigabyte 15.6” laptop with an rtx 3060, ryzen 5 5800H, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB ssd for $899. Reviews seem decent. There’s also a model with an Intel CPU for $999. The 3060 is full wattage I believe. Pretty bad battery life if that’s important to you. LINK
Here’s an ASUS Zephyrus G14 for $999. Smaller 14” laptop, good battery life supposedly, very portable. Has a lower wattage (60W that can boost to 80 I think) 3060, Ryzen 7 cpu, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB ssd. LINK
There are also plenty of other options with a 3060 that are in the $1100-1200 range right now too
I’m not really educated on anything about gaming laptops so I would like to know the best laptop I could get for my budget.
I would like something slim that doesn’t have that gamer look with a good battery life and it must have 1tb of storage. I’m not really going to do a lot of gaming but I would still like to run games at pretty decent graphics. Thank you.
MSI gp65, Helios 300, nitro 7
If you were to chose one which one would you chose?
The one giving best specs at least price like i7 1660ti or 2060 144hz etc
Eluktronics RP-15
115W on the GPU is the best you can get
I would recommend ASUS TUF Gaming A15 , with Ryzen 7 4800H + RTX 2060 144HZ screen, with 1 TB storage. It's around the price you give ($1199-1299). At this price tag, A15 is the best choice.
Thank you I will take a look at it
I'm looking for the best gaming laptop I can get for $1200 or less. It will mostly be plugged in so I'm not worried about portability. I just want something powerful and with good build quality so it will last. I don't know much about the gaming laptop world and with the current prime day deals I'm even more confused with the different configurations for each laptop. Can someone more experienced here give me some good recommendations? Thank you!
I'm sorry, I don't mean to derail your question but why don't you get a pc if you don't care about portability? You'll get better performance from a pc that costs 1200.
But to answer your question, try looking out for lenovo or Asus's laptops with at least a 4060 and make sure that the TGP of the 4060 is at least 115w. If you can somehow find a laptop with a 4070 then it will be even better. As for the cpu, you should be good with something like an i7 13650HX, i7 13700H or an i7 13620H. For AMD, a ryzen 7 7840hs or 8845hs should be great.
what build will cost 1,200??!! im looking at these builds and the minimum i see is 2,000+ 😭 im new to all this so im not sure if there is better alternatives but i have a gaming laptop already but my brother will go to college soon and need his own system i was just thinking of getting him another laptop because these pc builds scare me.
Fair question, the reason is I already have a pc. The reason I want a laptop is because i will move it but it will be rare. That's why I'm not worried about portability, this will used unplugged maybe once or twice a month. Maybe take it to a friend's occasionally. I want to keep this in my living room and plug it in to my tv.. Do you think a mini-ITX makes more sense at this $1200 budget?
Oh so you're like me, I also bought a laptop because I needed to move it around the house. Honestly a mini itx isn't a bad option but in my experience (or maybe it's just my country) itx parts cost more. Itx mobos cost annoyingly more. Sff psus cost more than a standard atx psu. You might run into issues when assembling your itx pc, maybe the cooler doesn't leave enough clearance for the ram, maybe the ram is too tall, maybe the gpu doesn't fit. At that point I'd rather just move a heavy atx pc across the house. But yeah, a gaming laptop is also a good option. I currently have the lenovo loq 16irh8 and it's a great laptop. The screen being 45% ntsc is my only complaint but other than that it's good. You can definitely get a Legion 5 slim or maybe a Legion 5i with a 4060 in your budget.
I’ve never bought a gaming laptop before, looking into getting one in a couple months, I want something with 32 gigs of ram and at least an i7 processor, I’m seeing a lot of listings on Best Buy, is that a good place to buy or am I wasting money going through them?
I mean a big retailer is fine.
Hard to really comment when you fail to add context about what model's you're considering, OP.
I’m really not to sure what one I want, I just want something with those specifications and don’t know if there’s other ways that people get their gaming laptops outside of big retailers
the vast majority purchase either directly from the manufacturer's website or through a retailer (best buy, amazon, etc.)
