Understanding the Policy
While the discussions provided don't directly address Best Buy's Totaltech cancellation policy, it's important to note that policies can vary and are subject to change. Generally, for memberships like Totaltech, which offer extended support and benefits, there is often a specific cancellation policy outlined in the terms of service. This typically includes information on how to cancel, any potential fees, and whether a prorated refund is available if you cancel mid-term.
Steps to Cancel
To cancel a membership such as Best Buy Totaltech, you would typically need to contact customer service directly. This can usually be done through their website, by phone, or in person at a store location. It's advisable to have your membership details handy when you reach out to ensure a smooth process.
Refunds and Fees
The specifics regarding refunds and any associated cancellation fees will depend on the terms agreed upon at the time of purchase. Some memberships might offer a full refund if canceled within a certain period after purchase (e.g., 30 days), while others might provide a prorated refund based on the time remaining in the membership term.
Recommendations
For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is recommended to review the terms and conditions provided at the time of your Totaltech purchase or to visit Best Buy's official website. Additionally, speaking with a Best Buy representative can provide clarity on any questions related to cancellation and refunds.

You came on r/golfgear to complain about people posting their golf gear for comments?
I'll never understand people who hate on what makes others happy. So easy to keep scrolling, but he just has to voice his opinion because we all need to hear it
This comment wins ^. Made my day!
You jealous?
I like the posts, always like seeing people’s bags. The guess my handicap isn’t as fun, but sometimes it makes sense when you see certain clubs built a certain way or taped up, etc.
It's just a way for people to post their bags and new clubs. It's not really that deep
Now this is a quality post.
I bought it and it has been working fine. I heard it was the physical edition having problems.
Mine works fine
This should work fine. Can’t see any reason it wouldn’t after looking it up.
Idk either. I'm seeing many videos on YT on how to buy a MWIII digital version that works but everyone is saying to not buy this. Probably because it costs a bit more?
I was also considering to buy this - currently discounted - cross-gen download version, but am still concerned it will not work due to current issues with removing from COD HQ. Please let me know if it works 😂
It's what I'm trying to understand before buying it lol
But I still have to buy the PS5 and would rather wait for a bigger discount
It doesn't matter.
Another example: 8/21/1883 Rochester F5 tornado → Saint Marys Hospital (1889) → Mayo Clinic.
A Tornado brought a tech store? Cool!
Best Buy's own corporate website, an article from 9 years ago: 35 Years Ago Today, A Tornado Transformed Best Buy
As a local, I have always known it as the 1981 Har Mar tornado
Tornado clearance sales are a time-honored tradition in Minnesota.
this is some awesome tornado trivia thank you
If I got a nickel every time a Minnesota tornado led to the creation of a widely known business, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
what's the other
Mayo Clinic. The Mayo brothers had a small clinic in Rochester, but after an 1883 tornado they spearheaded an effort to build a proper hospital in the city.
Bhai genz offers kaha se dekh rhe ho. Muhje flipkart pr mil hi nhi rha h
yr gaming laptop section mein gen z offer kahan se mila?
I'm getting the victus one 🙃
Why victus??
Same confusion
Ya bro lot of things to consider
Did you asked offline stores ?
Got text early morning saying it was cancelled. Placed it yesterday morning. Order status says cancelled “as you asked”, which is BS. Customer service asked me to go to store instead. Anyone else experiencing this?
Might be a fraud prevention measure. Go to the store as instructed.
Why would they tell you to go to a store? That’s odd. You be able to do it over the phone if you are having an issue with the site.
Not odd. It's an anti fraud measure. We can try to process it in store, and if it still flags it after we verify their identity, we can call in and see if they're willing to let it go through. Fraud department are dicks sometimes though. If they say no there's nothing I can do 🤷
They need to fix the fraud thing. We lose business because of it.
Hello, may nakaexperience na po ba ng ganito? Bumili kasi ako ng iPad kaso di siya machange address so no choice to cancel tas magoorder nalang uli sana.
Upon checking, nabawas agad sa limit ko sa card so I had to use another card to pay for it.
Question is babalik naman ba siya sa card ko since cancelled transaction and eto yung lumabas nung nagcancel ako? Usually ilan days bago siya bumalik? natatakot ang ako baka abutan sya ng due date if ever since magcucut off palang tong card 😓
just say """""shopee"""""
depends sa cycle ng card. Mabilis lang naman pag shopee, for me it was around 2-5 banking days
Hi! Following this for updates. Bought the same with Apple Flagship thru installment din but I think it will be cancelled (hopefully not) :(( I read some threads that theirs was refunded naman within a week
Has anyone else successfully refunded an unactivated Microsoft Office to Best Buy? Their store, chat & phone representatives are being so unhelpful. Although it states on their policy I am able to return it within 30 days. Microsoft cannot provide refund as I did not purchase through them.
UPDATE: I reached out to Best Buy through X using the customer service pin on my receipt. They at first tried denying my refund and send me their return guidelines, however, I outlined on their policy how this doesn’t apply to Microsoft Office as long as it is unused and under 30 days. Since I purchased under my Best Buy store credit card I was advised I should see the charge off by my next billing cycle. I hope it does come off.
For anyone who is doubting OP.
>Microsoft Office can be returned within 30 days by all customers, including Membership Program members, for a full refund. If you have purchased a service from Best Buy that you have not used, but you now wish to return and you are unable to return in a store, please contact us at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).
I would go back in store and show them the website.
As someone who has worked for Best Buy, your best bet is the phone or chat line. The stores have sole discretion of how that wording is enforced, and because it says "if you're unable to return in store, contact X number", they can leverage that to say that they are technically off the hook because the phone customer service should handle the rest based off of the Ts&Cs.
I unfortunately have been there twice. The most recent time was today & the manager still denied it. I’ve now resorted to disputing it through best buy as I have their store credit card so hopefully I can receive some help then.
Too late at this point but as a future rule of thumb you should be aware that credit card disputes should only be done as a last resort with documented proof of failure of the other party to fulfill their clearly defined obligations. Yes you have a Best Buy card, but you are not banking with Best Buy you are banking with Citi bank. Best Buy has nothing to do with your card except that it only works there and they offer promotions in conjunction with Citi.
I say all that because once you initiate a credit card dispute most companies will no longer work with you to resolve your issue. So while you were denied a return in person at a store twice you did not at all go through every step you could’ve, and you’ve most likely locked yourself out of those now. Add to that the fact that your request will likely be denied by Citi due to not having any evidence to show you actually tried to return the thing and you arrive at the quagmire that putting a claim in with a bank creates. I hope you get lucky and it works out for you this time but you should be aware of that to avoid this mistake in the future.
Edit: In rereading your comment I’m not sure if I understood you correctly. Did you dispute through the bank or through Best Buy’s customer service team? A phone call to their 1-800 line would likely have resolved this in one go, or at least have provided you an opportunity to get written proof of your right to return to present to a team member in store.
Buddy, under non refundable literally states Microsoft office digital code…
I just looked it up because I thought everyone was so wrong.
Software is not returnable.
Subscription software has it's own plan terms page.
Apparently Office is not only returnable, but for longer than the standard return period.
Which is weird, because it asks for an override and there is no way in Best Buy systems to verify if it was activated.
That's the one thing I like about Apple returns. It straight cockblocks if we can't, allows us if we can.
When returned within 30 days the code will be killed and inactivated. There’s a reason when you try and manage that subscription on the Microsoft website it directs you back to Best Buy. After 30 days it will refund at $0.00 as the bounty has been paid by MSFT
If anyone asks you this later.. it’s deactivated not inactivated 😬
>I just looked it up because I thought everyone was so wrong. u/dwmfives
This is a good example of how leadership varies between stores.
As an employee, I have assisted clients more than once on doing an MS Office return in-store at the POS (usually when they already had Office 365 but were not aware and purchased another license).
But seeing the replies from others who are clearly uninformed about the MS Office return exception policy shows the lack of training in many stores.
Software sales are final lol
Use Massgrave and try your best to get your refund

Hey everyone. I figure I would post here since the person on the phone didn’t really help.
My total tech protection plan renewed less than a week ago, which ofc I didn’t realize it was about to. I tried to cancel, but it gave me the option to extend a few of my devices protection plans.
I clicked yes, and this showed up. So I thought great, I can cancel it and my new protection plan will be billed monthly and I can get back my prorated refund.
However every time I click cancel, I get a message saying: there was an issue processing your request, try again later.
I’ve tried to do this multiple times and it’s still not working to let me process my cancellation. I first signed up for total tech a year ago, so I’m super confused. I just have to make sure that this new protection plan went through and I don’t lose coverage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
>I just have to make sure that this new protection plan went through and I don’t lose coverage u/Easy_Inspection8531
It literally says on your screenshot that those protection plans require active My Best Buy Total membership. Which means if you do cancel your membership, ALL protections will be null and void immediately.
As long as you're okay with that, you should be able to cancel your membership via the app or contact support via phone. Also, your local Best Buy store can cancel your membership via the POS but they might give you a hard time depending on their leadership.
So are you saying that on top of the $179 per year I would also be charged monthly as well?
>I just have to make sure that this new protection plan went through and I don’t lose coverage u/Easy_Inspection8531
Yes; with the BBYTotal membership, you get up to two years protection included free but you must have active membership (so techinically $179.99 x 2 = ~$360 in total).
After the second year you may choose to extended the Best Buy Protection individually on some devices on a monthly basis. But you must maintain your membership.
[edit]: I was wrong. Turns out per the Terms & Conditions, it's possible to have a monthly-paid protection independent of the membership:
>Monthly Coverage.
>i. When Your Monthly-Paid Plan continues from a Membership Plan. Under a Monthly-Paid Plan that continues from a Membership Plan, your Coverage (A) begins on the expiration of your Membership Coverage Period if you have agreed to continue your Coverage for the Covered Product by purchasing a Monthly-Paid Plan, or (B) if you cancel your Membership before expiration of the Membership Coverage Period, and you agree to continue your Coverage on a Monthly-Paid Plan independent of Membership, then your Monthly-Paid Plan will begin (and your prior Coverage will carry forward) as of the date you cancel your Membership and purchase a Monthly-Paid Plan independent of membership.
I read that, however it also states that my new protection plan starting June 26th will be billed monthly.
Just contact Best Buy through Facebook for help.
Don't buy any extended warranties on anything.
Ordered this 12 days ago, was supposed to be here 3 days ago.
I call in, only to find out the item is actually out of stock, and they have no idea when more will be in, if ever.
But here's the kicker....apparently they can't even cancel the order. So I'm stuck waiting indefinitely with my CC funds on hold.
Great f*cking customer service there.
Best Buy is the only place I will buy components from though. I know I'm not getting scammed, I pay MSRP, and it's in store pickup so it can't be stolen before it's in my hands.
Interesting point about the MSRP part -
I noticed this exact same PC, same SKU and everything, now listed for $200 more....
I was a pretty devoted Best Buy customer back during gamers club days and beyond, but they lost me entirely with their shitty ass customer service on the Star Wars Jedi Survivor preorder. Had to fight them for a month or two for my shitty preorder bonuses. It was just the principle of the thing. I preordered solely for those bonuses and they bait and switched me, then their customer service gave me the runaround and wouldn’t fix my issue.
This is what chargebacks are for
Without hesitation in this situation.
Have you tried escalating the issue to a supervisor or contacting Best Buy's corporate customer service? Sometimes higher-level support can resolve these kinds of issues more effectively.
Corporate customer service? Is that a different secret number or such?
To be clear - I got this from contacting them through their number, not from talking in store.
When I order a system that says, at the time I order it, is in stock, and that it will arrive on a specific day, then yes, I expect that it's not going to simply never arrive.
How is this an unrealistic expectation?
Is the better response to simply allow the scalpers to just own everything?
