[3:4]. Many users have recommended Jovial as their go-to gluten-free pasta brand, with some even preferring it over regular pasta
[2:6]
[5:1].
Rummo
Rummo is another highly recommended brand, appreciated for its texture that mimics regular pasta [1:3]
[2:7]. However, it is noted to be sensitive to cooking times, requiring careful attention to avoid overcooking
[3:2]. Despite this, many users find it worth the effort due to its excellent quality
[3:9].
Tinkyada
Tinkyada is favored by those who prefer rice-based pasta. It is known for having a good texture, especially when cooked al dente [2:3]

[4:3].
Other Noteworthy Brands
Several other brands were mentioned, including Garofalo, Le Veneziane, and Sanniti, which are praised for their authentic Italian pasta qualities [2:1]
[5:4]. Good & Gather from Target also received positive feedback for its taste and affordability
[5:3]
[5:8].
In conclusion, while Jovial and Rummo seem to be the top contenders for best gluten-free pasta, preferences can vary based on individual tastes and cooking methods. It's advisable to try different brands to find the one that suits your palate and dietary needs best.
Our daughter was recently diagnosed with IBS. She has always loved pasta but it’s clearly triggering reactions such that she’s missing work. For the pasta lovers out there, any recommendations of tasty gluten-free pasta brands apart from Barilla (which did not do the job, alas)? Thanks!
Brown rice pasta, it's FODMAP free and cheaper than most GF pasta. The texture is definitely not the same, but I've learned to live with it.
Trader Joe's makes one that's just brown rice, salt and water and is delicious!
Rummo! I've only found it at Whole Foods, but it could be elsewhere. It has the best texture like normal pasta.
Jovial is the best of all that I’ve tried.
Jovial
2nd Jovial. It comes in so many shapes.
Jovial is awesome!
This is the best!
Jovial. I’ve been gluten free for almost 10 years. It’s the only one that is like non gf pasta
ALL DAY LONG. Jovial for the win!
My son was diagnosed with Celiac about 3 years ago. We run a gluten free house. He loves pasta in every form. My husband and I try to eat it. (We never say a word) But, we don’t like it very much. Our favorite brand is Barilla. I found Italy serves Garofalo and Le Veneziane. I can order it online. What is your favorite? **Edited to add Thanks everyone. I have Giadzy and Le Veneziane Italian on the way. I will post the results.
i love jovial pasta, eespecially their farfalle. you cant go wrong with rice pasta, either.
I haven't had it before. Is the texture like regular pasta or similar to it? I'm thinking of trying them
both of them are as close to regular pasta as you can get! i actually prefer them to gluten pasta in a lot of ways. they're way quicker to cook (and a lot of rice pasta can be overcooked a fair bit) and i think jovial has an incredible texture.
This. Jovial has the best texture in my opinion.
Tinkyada is for sure my favorite. I really like the texture of rice based pasta, plus I have an issue with corn
You can find it at Walmart usually
Cappelli’s frozen pasta is pretty good. Bonus - it tastes good cold in a pasta salad.
Cappelli's is so good
Rummo, no contest for me & my (non gf) family
This! Italian fam approved!
It's our favorite too!
In addition to the ones already said, Jovial is pretty good too
For me, this is the best gluten free pasta in taste, texture and quality of ingredients. My family couldn’t tell it was gluten free. It holds up well to a creamy sauce and it’s delicious! I’m not a huge fan of the ones made with corn due to the texture (very finicky with the cook times), neither the ones made with legumes bc of the taste. This brown rice pasta is hearty, satisfying and the closest to regular, maybe even better ;) I’m always on hunt for the sale bc these do not last long at my house! I particularly love the Caserecce variety pictured.
Rummo GF is one step above - it’s truly spectacular - but Jovial is definitely my everyday go-to and very satisfying. Try the new bucatini and the new regular (non-cassava) orzo too.
Bucatini! Someone finally did GF bucatini. And it’s great. Amazing.
I’ve tried Rummo, and I would buy it in a pinch for sure. It is a bit more sensitive to over cooking though so definitely have to keep a close eye on it. Pasta has to be aldente for me to enjoy it. I’ve been meaning to get the gf orzo so I’ll be on the lookout for both!
Ooh, I will keep an eye out for the bucatini!
I THINK it’s a Whole Foods exclusive for the moment, though you can order it off the Jovial site too. So good! Definitely turned out to be my wife’s favorite.
It’s my favorite too. It’s a little pricey, but worth it. My partner can eat wheat pasta, but prefers this. It has the best texture! And great for cold pasta salad and warming up leftovers too.
Cold pasta salad?? Do you do anything with it after cooking? I always think the pasta gets a weird texture in the fridge
Jovial Fusilli pasta holds up pretty well. It’s the best texture I’ve noticed for pasta salad than other brands I’ve tried. I only cook for about 7-8 minutes, then I put it in a strainer/colander , and spray cold water on it until it’s considered warm. It holds onto dressing better that way. Then I use olive garden dressing.
My local grocery store will have a dollar or so off from time to time so agree with you on the price but yes, definitely worth it bc the texture is unmatched! Will have to try in a cold salad next!
Good to know it works well for cold pasta salads too!
Rummo and it’s not even close.
I have had some Jovial(bowties) that were absolutely horrible. The one you have shown is pretty good though.
I have tried them twice and both times they turned into mush. I feel like if you don’t take them out at the absolute perfect time they are not great.
I love their fusilli. It’s perfection
I am about to diagnosed and I want to hear opinions! A lot of my favorite recipes are different kinds of pasta so I want a good brand that tastes the best :)
Thanks celiac pals!
Edit: I wanted to share one of my FAVORITE pasta recipes! delicious pasta
I made that recipe weekly my first year of college, and I will probably make it a lot my next upcoming year, just with GF noodles ;)
I think Barilla tastes most like traditional pasta.
Banza (made from chickpeas) is quite good too and has more fiber and is filling (and the Banza "rice" is very tasty too).
Barilla, for sure. Just be careful with your cooking times and it’s not as nice for leftovers as regular pasta.
Try undercooking the pasta a bit if you’re setting some aside for leftovers :) (or more-so for meal prep)
barilla
Rummo is really good
Barilla or Jovial are my favorites, and my non-celiac family members like them too.
Preferably something organic.
Tinkyada.
Hands down tinkyada!! Just don’t over cook any of the gluten free pastas…
Barilla is my go to but Target brand Good & Gather is actually great too
I LOVE Good and Gather!
Jovial
I'm shocked that people like Jovial and Tinkyada, but maybe they just like a different texture? I want a pasta like real Italian pasta, al dente and doesn't fall apart as it cools, that you could actually reheat if you wanted. For me, Sanniti, Garofalo, and Ronzoni are leaps and bound above the rest. Barilla is ok. So far, all the imported Italian brands I've tried have been good. (Hard to imagine an Italian pasta company surviving if they can't make it decent.)
Especially for long pasta like spaghetti or fettuccine. The texture is right on & it doesn't break easily like other brands
Jovial is the best! The egg tagliatelle is my favorite, but the others are all good too!
Jovial is my go-to
Jovial tastes the most like regular pasta to me and you can cook it perfectly Al dente
Barilla.
I like barilla but I havent tried too many yet. I stick with what works.
I’m new to GF. My doctor thinks I have an intolerance and that seems accurate. I tried GF Kraft today and the noodles were grainy. What gf pasta brands do you recommend?
I keep hearing people recommend Jovial but I’ve absolutely HATED every brown rice only pasta that I’ve tried. Is it really that different from Tinkyada? That’s one brand that I see recommended and I just think “these people haven’t had good GF pasta”
Barilla hands down. Rice pasta tastes the best- i dont like any made of chickpeas its awful to me
Barilla was always my go-to, but Good & Gather (Target) is up there as well now for me.
The red lentil rotini is so good! I buy it by the case 😬
Rummo! Hands down. Barilla is great, too. But, Rummo made me double check the package.
100% this! Barilla is everywhere and more affordable, so I buy it more often, but Rummo really is as close to regular pasta as you can get.
Rummo is the best IMHO. Barilla is good and inexpensive and is the best pasta if you’re making a pasta salad. It stays soft the longest, 2 days, if making pasta salad ahead of time or have leftovers. Tinkyada lasagna noodles. Ignore instructions, add a little extra sauce and this brand is just like no boil noodles. Makes lasagna prep sooo easy.
How is Rummo gluten free different than regular Rummo, please ?
Omg, came here to say this. Closest to actual pasta I've ever found, I had to check the package. It was that good.
La Veneziane is the only one that passes for normal with my oldest’s sensory issues. He has ZERO tolerance for mushy or gritty anything. La Veneziane for the win!
Oh! I need to find the o pasta! I buy spaghetti, fettuccini, penne rigate, pipe rigate, macaroni, and ditalini by the case. It even reheats well. NomNom!🤤
Rummo is truly the GOAT for GF pasta!
Tinkyada brand pasta is BY FAR the best gf pasta I've found. It's really the only kind I'll eat anymore!
This is one of my favorite brands. I found some at Trader Joe's that was made from hearts of palm. Haven't tried it yet though.
Yum! I made Lo Mein with their noodles yesterday and it was delicious!!
This looks perfect!!! Thank you, thank you!!!
I’m all about the 100% brown rice pastas like Tinkyada, Jovial and Delallo. Delallo is actually my favorite of the bunch, my husband says he can’t even tell that they’re GF!
Thank you!!! I'll give these a try! I have issues with Wheat, legumes, and corn, so my options are super limited. Rice based products have been a life saver.
I am a fan of San Remo brown rice pasta. Hands down the best texture!
I definitely agree with this. Brown rice pasta is the best. Anything with corn is trash.
I like Barilla brand
Jovial (rice) pasta is fantastic
Jovial is the best
I’ve had celiac now for 15+ years and throughout all the brands I’ve tried, this has gotta be my favorite. It’s so good that my mom and sister (who don’t have celiac) say it tastes better than “regular” pasta. What are your opinions and is there a brand that you think is even better?
This is the only pasta brand I’ve found to have a normal texture/ mouth feel. Even my non-gf family members love it. It also reheats really well without breaking into shards.
This brand is my favorite, though my kids seem to prefer Rummo.
rummo is also good
Tens across the board, it has a great texture and tastes awesome.
i love this brand
Incredible, absolutely love it. Pretty much the only gf pasta brand I buy now. It’s the only one I’ve tried that truly feels/tastes like regular pasta, and my non-gf family members can’t tell the difference either!
Really appreciate that giada de laurentis made a gluten free pasta with fun shapes, I have been getting tired of penne tbh. Also saw she had stelline on her website as well! Has anyone tried it yet? Is it good?
It's quite good but it's like $9-10 per box. Not worth it to me except to try once. I'd love an affordable GF rigatoni but I'm sticking with Jovial or Barilla penne until then.
Honestly valid, I think it would be nice on occasion when I’m making a fancy dish but not a regular week night meal, when I see this it makes me hope that brands like Barilla and Jovial will see the opportunity to expand their GF shapes as well.
Kinda like how Oreo saw the opportunity with making gluten free options after other brands like glutino and simple mills came to the market.
Banza makes rigatoni.
Good to know, I'll try it! Though at $6 for an 8 oz box that's still far from affordable, unfortunately.
If you're in the US, Rummo has a rigatoni! they're usually like $3-$4 per bag
Second rummo! Can be expensive but if you find a good sale you can stock up ($1.50 near me a little while ago)
I would get the stelline if there were a source in the UK. I have found gluten free anellini, but the pastina my mom always used in her soup when I was little or sick was stelline. Just lost her last year, so it'd be worth it to me if I didn't have to pay international shipping.
if you can find it (or order it online) Jovial in the US has a stelline!
Ooo! Apparently iHerb has it, but it's currently out of stock. I wish I'd known about either of these when I was in the US last month, lol
I am sure this has been posted before but I can't tell you how good this pasta is. It's been about two years since I had to go gluten-free and I have been disappointed in every brand of pasta out there. I even tried a few recipes on my own that just were awful. However, Taste Republic fresh pasta is really fabulous. I just wanted to share. I've never worked for this company or any other food brand. I just can't believe how good this is.
Trader Joe’s sells a very similar version of this in their fresh pasta section!
Thank you! And to everyone else also! I never realized what a great reddit group this would be.
I second the TJ's gluten free egg pasta. It's the best I've had by far.
If you can find the cheese tortellini, try it! My Costco used to sell it in two packs but I haven’t seen it in forever. So sad.
I get it at Target.
You can order directly from them. They do raviolis in several flavors.
Jovial is also so good!
Wait until you use the lasagna sheets to make cream cheese won tons. Egg roll shaped though. The doughs brittle.
Omg that is genius.
Best gluten free pasta brands
Key Considerations for Gluten-Free Pasta:
Ingredients: Look for pasta made from high-quality gluten-free grains like brown rice, quinoa, chickpeas, or lentils. These provide better texture and flavor.
Texture and Cooking Time: Different brands have varying textures and cooking times. Some may become mushy if overcooked, so check cooking instructions carefully.
Nutritional Value: Consider the nutritional profile, including protein and fiber content. Legume-based pastas often have higher protein and fiber compared to rice-based options.
Taste: Taste can vary significantly between brands. It’s worth trying a few to find one that suits your palate.
Availability: Ensure the brand is readily available in your area or online for convenience.
Top Gluten-Free Pasta Brands:
Banza: Made from chickpeas, Banza pasta is high in protein and fiber, with a great texture that holds up well in various dishes.
Tinkyada: Known for its brown rice pasta, Tinkyada offers a wide range of shapes and has a texture that closely resembles traditional wheat pasta.
Barilla Gluten Free: This brand provides a familiar taste and texture, making it a popular choice for those transitioning to gluten-free diets.
Ancient Harvest: Made from quinoa and corn, Ancient Harvest pasta is nutritious and has a unique flavor profile.
Explore Cuisine: Their legume-based pastas (like black bean and edamame) are high in protein and fiber, making them a healthy alternative.
Recommendation: If you're looking for a versatile option, Banza is highly recommended for its taste and nutritional benefits. For a more traditional pasta experience, Tinkyada is a great choice. Try a few brands to see which one you enjoy the most!
