TL;DR
Belly and Conrad's First Kiss
One of the most cherished romantic moments in "The Summer I Turned Pretty" is when Belly and Conrad finally share their first kiss. This moment is significant because it represents the culmination of their long-standing feelings for each other, which many viewers found deeply moving [1:1]. The anticipation and longing leading up to this event resonate with audiences who have experienced similar emotions in their own lives.
Emotional Reunion Moments
The series captures the essence of young love and the complexities that come with rekindling a past relationship. Several viewers noted the emotional depth of scenes where Belly and Conrad navigate their feelings after time apart [1:2]
[1:3]. These moments are filled with tension and uncertainty, yet they ultimately lead to a heartfelt reunion that resonates with those who have experienced the joy of reconnecting with a loved one.
Birthday Party Scene
Another standout romantic moment is the birthday party scene, where Belly and Conrad's chemistry is palpable. Their unashamed flirting and the way they warm up to each other despite initial awkwardness make this scene memorable [4]. The interactions during this event highlight the playful and genuine connection between the characters, adding to the overall romantic atmosphere of the series.
Conrad's Mature Response
In the finale, Conrad's mature response to Belly's apology—"I'm not"—is a beautifully steady and respectful moment that underscores his deep care for her [4:1]. This interaction is pivotal as it allows Belly to realize her true desires, making it a key romantic moment that showcases growth and understanding between the characters.
Chemistry Between Characters
The chemistry between the actors playing Belly and Conrad adds an extra layer of romance to the series. Viewers praised the casting choices and the natural chemistry that brought these characters to life, making their romantic moments feel authentic and engaging [2].
I think one of the reasons this series hits home for so many people (including me) is because it captures such a nostalgic, almost aching kind of love. As humans, one of our deepest desires is to love and to be loved in return. And the way Belly and Conrad love each other feels like the embodiment of that.
It is not just about first love or young love. It is about the way someone can see you SO fully and deeply. To have a partner look at you the way Conrad looks at Belly is something rare. Honestly, I am not even sure it is that common to find in real life, which is maybe why it feels so precious when we watch it play out on screen.
What makes it even more powerful is their acting. Chris and Lola brought that longing and tenderness to life in a way that we could feel in our own heart. It felt like we were living it with them. That kind of connection makes you pause and remember the times you have longed for someone. Or when someone looked at you like you were their whole world. Or you just wish you could experience the same feeling in your lifetime.
For me, that is what makes this show absolutely unforgettable. It wasn’t perfect, and neither are Belly and Conrad, but their love is beautiful and pure. It’s the kind of love story that feels unforgettable.
To add to this, there is literally no other feeling like getting back together with a person that you used to date, took a break, etc.
That tension is “do they still love me”, tip toeing around your true feelings, etc. and when it ends up working out in the end and you’re back together. Unbelievable feeling that this show captured perfectly
You are so so right. I have been blessed to have a young/first love and years later get back together and get married. And the way belly and Conrad emulated that kind of love just hit home for me so hard. It’s exactly like you said- the uncertainties/insecurities being present despite all the growth/changes when getting back together. They did sucha good job making it so realistic, messy, relevant, and pure. It’s shows like these that really do give that hope that that kind of love still exists.
This show had a weird hold on me and an emotional hold on me. I am 39 and for me it was how at 20 something years old, there is so much you dont know even though you think you have life figured out. Small and big decisions can really change the trajectory of where you end up in life.
Omg yes!! When belly and conrad finally kissed, I was almost into tears thinking how long they would have longed for it!!
I was crying🥹
Can we talk about Steven glow up😍
Discovering this show was one of my best moments. Every actor played their role so well that it almost feels like they carried us right along with them. Isabel, Conrad, Jeremiah, Steven, Taylor these characters will never be forgotten. They’ll always live in my heart.
This season was such a roller coaster, making me laugh, cry, and giggle all at once. And on top of that, Chris and Lola had the most magical chemistry ever. I’m so glad Jenny Han gave us the perfect ending. Even Jeremiah got his closure though I really don’t like him, I can admit he got what he needed.
And now, even though Wednesdays won’t be the same anymore, I know this story will always feel infinite to me. The thought of the upcoming movie (maybe in December!) makes me so excited that we’ll get to see them one last time on screen. Praise to The Summer I Turned Pretty— a story that gave us love, heartbreak, and memories that will stay forever.
✨ Some summers stay with us forever. This one will always be mine.

This is sooo wholesome 🥹✨ I feel the same way too! The story, the emotions, the characters everything just stays with you long after it ends. Truly unforgettable💕
I feel the exact same way ! It was such a ride !
I can’t say it enough the casting for this show was perfection they are all so likable on and off the show
This is the sweetest!!!
A summer wonderland
Just felt like mentioning my top favourite moments.
Let me know about you guys.
Your favourite moments are great. Cosign.
Will add campfire Junseo shyly responding to Arin's 'if you picked me' inquiry and Minseol telling the girls that Junseo told her that he did not drink Johnnie Walker so she assumed that he was going to pick her for paradise. All the girls tried their hardest to not burst her bubble
Haelin and Arin were like 😐🧐🫤
I really like the moment when Sian was straightening Junseo’s hair, and then in the helicopter Arin and Jiyeon started patting his hair, and said that it’s soft, and Jiyeon was like “you remind me of my dog”.
I also really like the moment from unreleased clips, where Arin is trying to convince Dongho to sleep on the big bed, and she’ll sleep on the small additional one, because his legs don’t fit on it. And Dongho calls her “Jagiya”.
These are all great moments, OP and additional comments. A few more of my favourites:
I know we've been dissecting the finale frame by frame now, but the more I let it simmer the more I'm ecstatic. 😭 I loved it so much. At first the only complain I had was that the endgame felt rushed and left me longing for a dip into their wedding and life together - then the movie was announced so scrap that.
Everything was perfect. The way the day starts off awkward but they quickly warm up to each other because that's simply how they're wired. The entire bday party scene was immaculate. I was giggling and kicking my feet at their unashamed flirting across the room, the way Conrad gains confidence as soon as he's made aware Benito isn't in the picture, the eye-fucking, the passed joint, their banter, EVERYTHING 😭
I loved their conversations, the way they could speak so openly. The love scene felt so accurately tailored for me specifically that I could hardly breathe, and it just kept hitting and hitting (aggressive make out session in a semi public space, rushing to get a room but stopping to make out some more, slamming into every wall, sweet words of longing during the act, just years long due white-hot pent-up passion exploding in a twist of arms and legs, anyone?? 🫣)
I loved how they went full circle with that day, like claiming prom day back for Belly. Conrad helping her with her bracelet brings back memories of the corsage, then the party, the romantic dancing, the "love-making" (yes, Conrad, sex)
Then the sudden realization and the tropey Race To Your Love segment????????? 😭
I'm bringing nothing new to the conversation, I know. I'm just so deliriously happy with it all. And the more I dwell on it, the more I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ idk what to do with myself lol
Me toooooooo! The more I reflect on the “that is not why I love you” conversation the better it gets, too. 😍
I was paralyzed by fear the first time around 💀 that was too loaded to be happening like, quite literally, in the last 10 minutes of the show ahahah
I appreciate it a lot more in hindsight, it was so needed and heartfelt!
Same!! During the first watch I was just screaming internally. It’s much better watching it again 😂
And something I haven’t seen exactly said yet Conrad’s response after “I’m sorry” of “I’m not” was so beautifully steady and mature (esp compared to Jere’s “don’t fucking call me again”). She really needed him to walk away caring for her and respecting her in that way to be able to have the realization that she did after that rejecting him was also ultimately rejecting herself and her true desires.
The finale was excellent. The tension and build-up, the honest conversations, the initial awkwardness that faded—it all worked so beautifully! But it definitely highlighted how the middle of the season LAGGED (with Conrad’s POV episode as the exception). I almost wish it had been a two-episode finale. So much time spent on Lucinda, wedding planning, and Denise-Steven when we could have gotten more Bonrad scenes.
Thank god for the ending! I was worried but JH came through
Haha...💜💙👍🤣
😈✌️🖤💫
Same girl same ♾️❤️🔥
After finishing the series I've been thinking about which was my favourite moment or scene, and I think I'm between two.
When Ryan finally tells Taylor that he loves her while she pretends to be asleep or when Ryan tells Kirsten during the intermission that he doesn't want something bad to happen again to someone he loves.
Seeing Ryan going from ready-to-murder to this. That’s what S4 was about 🙏
Losing Marissa broke my heart, but honestly I desperately needed the lightheartedness, comedic gem, and the wholesomeness that is S4 to recover from the stress/anxiety-inducing relationship that is Ryan and Marissa. ❤️🩹
I heart season 4 Taylor so much.
Same. Double T carried that season
That scene in season 1 between Sandy and Ryan: “So how was home?” “What do you mean? I was in Chino, I just got home” I’m paraphrasing but I thought this was such a sweet scene!
“You tell me” so wholesome 💜
Or the "sorry it didn't worked out with your dad" "My dad is right here"
He needed someone like Taylor. I get he loved Marisa and by the end she was truly his BFF. A lot of love. But Taylor was funny and not so tragic. Don’t get me wrong I love Marisa.
yeah I always viewed Marissa and Ryan as star crossed-once in a life time-kind of love. But Taylor was healthier. I wouldn't mind if they got married.
They didn’t and ended up separated. Josh said so
The best time of Ryan’s life was with Taylor. No drama, No BS !
Very important to note.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is not a perfect show, but Belly/Conrad is an all-timer ship. I think they'll be one of the ships that this generation of viewers will look back on fondly many years from now like some of the best teen drama ships of all time.
I have to give a lot of credit to the chemistry between Chris and Lola. 💖 The two of them have managed to make Belly and Conrad so beautiful and buzzy. They've created a ship that people root for despite some of the flaws in the story and despite the show leaning too hard on the love triangle. I honestly think that the show isn't being given enough credit for the cultural phenomenon it has become.
Here are ten of my favorite moments throughout the show (so far). 🫶🏻
It’s criminal to not have any guest room screenshots in this compilation
I only did 10 moments 🤭 Sorry! There are so many missing from here. 🥹
I forgive you 💓 the ones you did add are amazing
Icons. I still can’t believe we got this adaptation and that we were blessed with the two leads having this much chemistry. Truly one in a million
Top 10 fav ships of all time for sure
They look like babies in the first season 🥹❤️
Right?? It really feels like they grew up on our screens and I feel oddly protective of them even though they're fictional 😂😂
One of the most realistic lovable MAN I have seen in recent times......total HUSBAND material
I have been saying this for a while now: Conrad Fisher (TV version) is Jenny Han's best male character of all time. Sorry to Peter Kavinsky, he's great, but he doesn't even come close IMO. 🥹
It’s not even up for debate. I always find myself giggling and kicking my feet whenever I reach this ep 🤭
Reflecting Light is on my playlist as our “final dance” song at the end of our wedding. It’s just perfect.
Love that song so much. I love how they have a callback in the reboot during their wedding
I was rather happy to hear that during their wedding
Its the same song in AYITL when they actually get married.
Aww, congratulations on your engagement!
It’s such a nice wedding song 🫂
It was my song for having bridesmaids walk down the aisle! So perfect - and congratulations!
"Maybe he didn't mean it as a date. Maybe he just needs to get out of the house, and since currently I'm one of the women sitting at home thinking: "If only I can find a man like Aragorn" he picked me!"
That sounded more like “I’m surprised I still have my clothes on” 🤨
Sadly, if you watch the scene back, you can see that seemingly neither of them can waltz! They're just shuffling from one foot to the other. The camera work gives the illusion of dancing at a glance, but on a second or third watching it becomes obvious that they're both just shifting their weight from side to side (watch as the shot zooms out). Would have been better to have invested in some choreography for that scene, in hindsight... especially given that there's at least one couple in the background who are actually waltzing!
I always thought theywere waltzing at the start....
They start out far away from each other and waltzing, but they get closer and closer throughout and eventually end up just kind of swaying together...which tracks for me....it would be quite hard to waltz properly with someone's head on your shoulder I'd imagine!
I'm so sorry but for me it has to be Dave staying up all night reading the Bible and begging Mrs. Kim to let him take Lane to the dance. I swoon every single time.
His face when he says, “Please. I’m so tired.”
How the hell did I get Jeremiah😭😭
I wanted Jeremiah but got Conrad 😑
Got Connie baby ♾️
I got Jeremiah and have no idea how lol
Yes!!!! I got Conrad.

Ahh one of the best scenes in the game! makes my heart so full 🥹❤️ Ruth, Nat and Adam did such a fantastic job creating Dreamers for this scene cause it really captures the innocence and nostalgia of just being a kid
Exactly!
Everytime I see Swanns green eyes she just reminds me of my wife, adult Swann is literally my wife's doppelganger and it warms my heart ❤️
My favourite part of the game.
