I think the whole context for the scene is right there. They are partners, who compete together and succeed. Jere could never diminish Belly’s competitiveness since he is always there to encourage her, the same way he did for the volleyball camp. Steven left Taylor there, while Jere took the equipment bag to carry it, was there with Belly when she faced the coach and asked for a second chance, stayed with her for the entire practice and cheered as well. He uplifts Belly by believing in her and being there. Jere would never try to compete against Belly since he wants all the spotlight to be on her. He is so much happier to face challenges together, as a team, because the accomplishments are for them both. He doesn’t want to win against Belly, he wants for them to win together, because her happiness is also his happiness. 🌼

I think Jere not being able to focus anymore during the volleyball game with Belly in season 1 was totally due to the fact that he was falling so hard for her. They had had their first kiss only some nights before. He was so excited to talk with her about their first kiss and what that meant for them. He also knew that winning the tournament was very important for Belly, so he really wanted to help her win it, but we all know that too much enthusiasm can go the wrong way sometimes and that’s just totally natural. It shows how much into her he already was and just couldn’t keep his eyes off of her and was unable to focus on anything else in her presence.

Now in the new season that they are actually together they will accomplish so many things together hand in hand, it will be so great to see that 💖

Somehow, and I don’t understand it, people STILL think this is going to happen - that belly is going to feel held back by Jere. That she doesn’t feel like she “fits in” with Greek life. How can you look at this clip and think that? Seriously? It doesn’t make any sense!

Let’s be honest, Jeremiah should have been great at the game. He even played volleyball in their pool with them, and I know it was just them in the water.

Also in the books he’s mentioned a lot to be a workout guy, football guy. Maybe not as good at football as Conrad, but definitely physically stronger than him lol.

But of course he had to be nerfed suddenly for the plot.

I’m such a sucker for their scenes in the Pilot. The spin hug, running to the ocean, the little knocks on the wall... 🥰

I also really love the scene when Jeremiah walks Belly to the country club in 1x02 and introduces her to Paige. The way she twirls around in her dress and they link arms is adorable!

I love literally every scene they had together. The chicken scene hasn’t been mentioned so I’ll add that. Same with the tire scene. Also when he shows up to pick the girls up after skinny dipping. He immediately asks about Belly even though poor Taylor is standing right there too 🫣

This torments me because I can't pick my favorite. In every rewatch I notice something different and then I get obsessed again.

I love love love all of their scenes in the water: in the Pilot, when they run to the ocean; the first kiss; Delicate. I can't decide between them.

All the car scenes are excellent. I'm a Teen Wolf/Stydia fan, so it's safe to say that their conversations and the Jeep tug at that special nostalgia too.

The knock on the wall is so special to me. They conveyed so much about their dynamic in that one small, simple scene. The way Jere smiles... Boy really stood no chance. It's adorable.

All the kisses, of course. Each one of them is special for different reasons.

Shadow puppet scene too! So adorable! And the tension! So good.

Whenever there's a scene with them, they manage to put a smile on my face. I think I really love them all.

That scene means so much. The song, the way they looked at each other, grabbing each other's hands... So precious.

I want to know why they didn’t show the angle in which Lola is smiling at him! You can see that she is when we’re looking at him the last time, but then the camera goes head on to them both just before the ride drops and there’s no smiling. For me, the smile is so important because it felt like realization 😭 Also fits how smiley she is when the ride is over and Taylor says “interesting.”

Whether they realize it or not, when Belly is with Jeremiah, she’s a constant subconscious reminder of his insecurities and inferiority issues. It’s why he’s so prideful - (“and she chose ME!” to Laurel is a good example) and it’s why he wants to ‘lock down’ Belly so badly.

He might think he’s in the clear with her after 4 years, but the only reason nothing happened between Belly & Conrad in those 4 years is because he was on the other side of the country.

Even though he seems confident nothing will ever happen between them again, that doesn’t erase the years of insecurity of knowing that Conrad was her first choice, her first love, her first everything.

And he’s subconsciously replacing his mother with Belly. He clings to her, and she gives in to every want and need that he asks for. It’s toxic to both of them, and these are just a few reasons why they are incompatible. She needs Conrad, and Jeremiah needs another girl who’s removed from this dynamic.

I agree. Four years into a relationship, and it's clear, they don't work. Jenny has warned fans from the start, that this is what their relationship would look like.

I like Jeremiah since S1. And just like you I enjoyed his character in episode 5. Was happy about his success etc.

But with Belly? both are unbearable then. Their relationship seems to me like a parody of a happy relationship. Too giggly, too happy, too excited.

This is the same thing I was thinking about! Metaphorically speaking, her chasing the ring around Paris is her not wanting to let go of Jeremiah just yet. And even though it took a lil bit of searching, she still found her way back to it in the end.

Yeah it’s a lot 💔. 

Just before she calls, she’s looking at her ring (again) and kind of takes in a big breath to steel herself to call him. And then when he answers, she visibly sighs with relief. 

And those big smiles and moment of lightness joking about Steven and Taylor amongst all the mess. 

It’s all a big mess. I understand why she chased that backpack and that ring all over the city. I understand why she called, I understand why he’s trying to clarify. I understand why he’s upset and I’m not sure why she couldn’t understand that. They said a lot on the wedding day but there was much more to be said and cleared up, and she ran away essentially leaving him in and with the fallout. She needed to go to Paris, and this was her trigger. But she’s hurt him so much and there will be benefits but also consequences for her decision. She can’t just expect him to fall back into the just best friend role after everything they’ve been through, just like he can’t expect they could pretend nothing changed and go back to what they had. They don’t know ‘how to be’ as Jere said with or without each other at the moment, but can still bring each other comfort in the midst of the pain. 

Honestly I hope Taylor or Steven calls her out on how selfish it was of her to just run. Your 4 year relationship and your lifelong best friend aren't important enough to you for you to delay your self discovery for like 48hours and have a real conversation? Come on.

Ps. I just want to see Jere, Steven and Taylor being a trio besties for the rest of the show. Denise can tag along too. That's the dream for me now.

Jenny seriously has me fr HEARTBROKEN and grieving over fictional characters' love story. And I'm sure for the opposing team it's rather amusing but... Jelly are genuinely so. tragic. A true reality is that not everything/everyone gets a happy ending but MAN this has been a brutal ride. And it's even more sad to try and come to terms that even fiction can't have that all the time. I've know where they were going with this but still 😔

Jeep Jelly is iconic!

Even on their “romantic getaway” to cousins, Conrad didn’t laugh with Belly and barely, barely showed any sort of affection. We hardly got a smile from him and it was only when he was telling her his MOM was happy they were together..

Her getting into the car, no hug, no kiss? For a 16 year old girl and college Freshman??? Hormones are literally raging at those ages… It’s clear as day she is a physical touch person and ol’ Con acts like he doesn’t care to touch her. She literally flinches when he tries when they’re having cocoa. So make it make sense, because the math is not mathing.

This boy is so in love with this girl! I will never understand how anyone can say otherwise, they must be blind. This sounds so immature of me, but I seriously hope( I already believe it anyway) that Jenny changed the endgame just so I can watch chaos ensue and have them loose their minds😂

The thing is Jeremiah had this moment of ‘growth’ at the end of season 2 - Jenny even spoke about it

He says ‘you and I are good, we’ll always be good. I just want you to be happy’ when he thinks Belly chose Conrad at the motel

This is growth yes, but it’s also him always being the one to step aside and let go and not fight for what he wants - he puts other’s happiness first which is admirable but it also means that he ends up hurt

Now him saying ‘I’ll always come and get you’ in s1 was also after he thought Belly had chosen Conrad to go to the Deb ball - that shows that no matter what these two love each other as friends have that that foundation of connection ‘like no other or with anyone else’ (as Lola described in an interview a few weeks ago)

My issue is that s1 and s2 Jere was in a different headspace - he’s now been left by the love of his life after 4 years together and his brother had also betrayed and broken him too much for him to just forgive easily

Jeremiah will always love belly that’s not the issue here - the issue is that his ‘growth’ according to Jenny will probably be him letting go of her and moving on, which is fair but it also makes Conrad who can’t let go after 4 years seem like this big yearner (hes not) - they made s2 Conrad say ‘I don’t think I could ever get over you’ when he told belly that Jere was

Ultimately it’s Bellys choice so that’s all that matters

However, even with a Bonrad endgame, BellyJere will always be connected because they were best friends first and as belly once told Conrad ‘you will never be what Jere is to me’ - its Conrad who has to live with that

If Bonrat is endgame, I wouldn’t want him to be ok with it though. It’s too painful and too unrealistic. He has every right to be hurt and stay mad at them and away from them.

Why tf does she volunteer to clean it up? That relationship is so one sided.

This makes me think that it was Jere that was being dirty birdy at his dad's house and not the Belly.

I love when conrad was like "that's not your job go play some beer pong" (the way he said it was adorable too) and just instantly comes to her side to clean it up. makes me wonder, he came inside because he wanted peace and quiet from the party, and so did belly!! everyone else was outside, soulmating much??

It really was a nice moment between them, they really did feel like the parents of the house. Also, to add to this, when Belly had to tell Jeremiah to go outside and smoke, it was such a contrast in maturity.

This seems like a parallel to when Jere walked in on them at the party store.

I also loved that he called them “our vases”. I even had to rewind and be sure I heard what I heard.

Him referring to them as "our" vases lol. Talk about a Freudian slip...
