My Hero Academia
"My Hero Academia" is frequently mentioned as a top superhero anime. It captures the Marvel/DC superhero vibe with its school setting and fluctuating focus between hero training and villain encounters [1:6]
[2:2]. Despite some perceptions of it being childish due to its visuals, many viewers, including older audiences, find it engaging and well-crafted
[2:6]
[2:8].
One Punch Man
Another highly recommended series is "One Punch Man," known for its absurdly powerful protagonist, Saitama, who can defeat any opponent with a single punch. The show is celebrated for its humor, action sequences, and critique of traditional superhero tropes [1:7]
[3:5].
Tiger & Bunny
"Tiger & Bunny" offers a unique take on the superhero genre by incorporating themes of commercialization and media influence on heroes. It features a buddy-cop dynamic with two main characters who have contrasting personalities but must work together [2:4]
[4:2].
To Be Hero X
Though less mainstream, "To Be Hero X" has been praised for its storytelling and quality dubbing. It's noted for being one of the best superhero shows in recent years, offering a fresh perspective on the genre [1:1]
[1:2].
Concrete Revolutio
For those interested in a darker tone with optimistic characters, "Concrete Revolutio" is an alternate history superhero story that provides a lighter version of the complex narratives found in works like "Watchmen" [4:3].
These series offer a range of tones and styles, from comedic and satirical to serious and introspective, providing something for every superhero anime enthusiast.
In the sense anime that involves superheroes as setting and overall plot.
I know there many posts do sometimes focus superhero themed shows (Particularly inspired from DC or Marvel), However they didn’t mentioned their favs so may as well I do it myself.
Where's To be Hero X up in here?
This show is pretty amazing right now with a really good dub too.
While I am watching that anime. I have issues with it and so that could be the same for other people. I personally dont like the out of order story telling style with the time line. I also dont like that I got attached to 1 character and now I will most likely not see anything else on them until 2 or 3 seasons later if at all so to me there is no point to get too involved in the overall story of characters and instead I just have it on as I do other things.
The only "characters" that have stayed throughout is (fear and popularity) if you get what im saying.
I can appreciate not jibing with the nonlinear, Tarantinoesque nature of the storytelling. I personally dig the layer of complexity it adds to the mystery but I recognize not everyone is going to want ‘complicated’ in their punch-up stories.
My disappointment was palpable when the story shifted away from Nice and I needed a break for a couple of weeks. Once I started watching again though, the new characters stories were just sooo good that any disappointment quickly disappeared.
I can’t begin to imagine why you’d think the show won’t be coming back to any of the characters for 2-3 seasons though. That’s such a weird supposition and doesn’t make any sense in light of how the story is progressing. They’re very obviously introducing the top 10 heroes who’ll then function to kick off the overarching conflict. Did you think they were just going to keep adding heroes ad nauseam without any rhyme or reason? Given how great the writings (generally) been so far, I think you could give them a little more credit than that!
My Hero Academia
Same. One of the gateway anime with marvel fever going on at the time. Will always be grateful to MHA.
Go Go Loser Ranger is good
I like that series, Power Rangers parody is good idea.
You should check out the red ranger anime. It parodies power rangers hard and even jokes at another type of character but I can't think of who and my brain just wants to say yugioh but idk.
One punch man
Super crooks
My hero academia vigilantes
Hasn't finished yet but to be hero X. It's easily the best super hero show I've seen in years.
I don’t really watch anime, but watched demon slayer and jujutsu kaisen. I really enjoyed both ESPECIALLY demon slayer. What are some other similar anime that’s really good?
My Hero Academia.
First season is only 13 episodes, and it's a pretty good gauge of what you'll be getting into between the first two arcs that happen in that season. IE: You'll get school stuff and villain stuff, and the show fluctuates between the two.
One Punch Man and My Hero Academia
Isn’t My Hero Academia kind of childish? Idk I’m just assuming based on the visuals
Not really. Sure the main cast of characters are mainly teenagers and the visuals are a bit more cartoony than other anime, but it seems like it captures that marvel/DC superhero vibe reasonably well.
Not at all. Maybe more young adult, but I'm 42 and love it.
Tiger & Bunny - Here's a trailer to give you an idea of what the series is about, tone, feel, etc.
One Punch Man
I'm not sure what you mean by "super hero" with regards to Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen. If you're talking about a not-too-fantasy setting and there's a power system like magic, then maybe Chainsaw Man, Mob Psycho, and One Punch Man might be for you.
Lately I've been on a superhero obsession and I've watched The Boys; Invincible; One Punch Man; and for movies I've watched Shazam; Black Adam; Watchmen; etc.
I love shows that depict characters with insane feats of strength. Like when Omni-man killed an entire planet, or when Homelander flew by a private jet an lasered it, or pretty much any episode from One Punch Man where Saitama obliterates the bad guy, specially his fight against Boros which was a cinematic masterpiece.
I just like ridiculous, absurd, cosmic level hero bullshit. It's so fun.
Thank you!
Legion (Marvel)
Agents of Shield takes a little while to get going and then gets really really good
Smallville
Xena
Hercules
My Adventures with Superman
it doesn't involve insanely powerful characters but it IS ridiculous- peacemaker.
also misfits and extraordinary.
I am looking for a Superhero anime that is darker in tone, but still has optimistic characters. I like idealistic main characters like Superman/Captain America who positively influence the more cynical world around them. I like My Hero Academia and One Punch Man, so things kind of like those would be good as well.
Tiger & Bunny
Zetman
Concrete Revolutio is an alternate history super hero story, I would describe it as a lighter version of Watchmen
Samurai Flamenco is an interesting take.
Punch Line
Hunter x Hunter 2011! Has each character with unique powers and it does get darker in later episodes
I think it’s the best superhero tv show and best cartoon tv show of all time
Hmm, it's up there, but I think The Simpsons topped it before it got bad.
For me it enters the TOP 7 best animated series
I’d agree, the only thing in a similar league is the 90’s Spider-Man animated series.
Thats a weird way to spell X-Men. Its got the best Phoenix Saga we've gotten out of like 5 tries.
Jokes aside, I LOVE S:TAS
Idk how, but I forgot X-Men. That was a great one too.
I love that show but BTAS is on a whole other level of artistry
Yeah the one where old peter isn’t allowed to punch anyone besides when the parents weren’t looking.
It's up there in the conversation even though I like Batman: Brave and the Bold 2008 TV show more.
I’m about to watch this one for the first time after I finish JLU
I just finished it and I’m so sad. Good thing there is BTAS part 2: Justice League
I’m very new to anime and the only anime I’ve properly watched so far is My Hero Academia. I did also start Charlotte which was good but I was wondering if there is any others that also are about like people living with abilities and that sort of stuff.
One Punchman and Sailor Moon are also good
I’ve been hearing about OPM a lot so I’ll be sure to check that out thanks
You’re welcome. Second season gets a lot of bad criticism. It definitely isn’t as good as the first season.
Mob psycho , same studio as MHA... all I can say is do NOT be fooled by the initial episodes
K:project literally what you are asking. Watch the 2 seasons and thank me latter xD
Tiger and Bunny
I was gunna say this.
As a Shojo, Gakuen Alice is really cute!
JoJo
PLEASE READ ALL SECTIONS BEFORE ANSWERING
I'm looking for a show that:
some shows that are sort of close: barry invincible dexter naruto & boruto mushoku tensei aot
my favorite genres: comedy slice of life sci-fi/fantasy
some of my favorite elements:
what i don't like:
some of my favorite shows:
-Full metal alchemist (i prefer original, but brotherhood is more palettable to most)
-Jujutsu kisen
-dorohedoro (weird, but fun)
-dark (Netflix series that is not animated but deals with time travel).
Jobless reincarnation
Higurashi when they cry
The familiar of zero (because everyone should watch it)
Just adding, for OP and anyone else interested in Higurashi When They Cry (aka "Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni "), the full watch order for the Higurashi anime, with info on what was adapted from the original visual novels:
When The Cry 2006 adapts the first 3 quarters of the original visual novel. (26 episodes)
When The Cry Nekogoroshi-hen, is an anime original special episode, that takes place between 2006 and Kai.
When They Cry Kai (2007) covers the last quarter of the visual novel (with an extra Anime original arc). (24 episodes)
When They Cry Rei (2009) covers the epilogue (Saikoroshi-hen) between optional spinoff stories (all adaptations of VNs). (5 episodes)
Higurashi When They Cry Kira (2011), is an OVA anthology of optional spinoff stories that are mostly anime original. (4 episodes)
When They Cry Outbreak is an optional special based of a VN (though it's second half, Kamikashimashi-hen, wasn't adapted)
Higurashi When They Cry Gou (2020) is an anime original sequel to the original story (Don't watch this until you've experienced the original story). (24 episodes)
Higurashi When They Cry Sotsu (aka Gou season 2) is the second part to Gou and is exclusive to the anime.(15 episodes)
Maybe Black Clover?
Castlevania?
I think you're looking at Re:Zero, Golden Kamuy, or JoJo
You have similar likes to me. I'm big on Erased, Revengers, and Steins;Gate, but I also hate pitiful characters. The genres as well but Id even throw in a shounen shout (black clover/hunter x hunter).
So I guess I like me some anime focused on fighting (is that called shonen?)
The pics attached are the ones I've watched already.
Dragonball OG/Z/GT/Super. Haven't watched Daima yet. I'm waiting for the dub to be completed.
Bleach OG/Thousand-Year Blood War Can't wait for the final season.
Demon Slayer This might be my favorite anime in the making. The animation and soundtrack are superb!
My Hero Academia Is MHA: Vigilantes worth watching?
Jujutsu Kaisen Best animation ever! Those fight scenes are amazing! Todo is the coolest character I've ever seen.
Attack on Titan It started amazing and ended awful. After the Titans are "revealed", it started to get downhill very fast.
Sword Art Online Season 1 was cool and all. After that I lost interest.
So which anime would you recommend to binge next?
since you got some long anime up that list then i would definitely suggest watching one piece (if it’s way too long then hxh), and for short anime i would recommend:
Yeah I like long anime. I tried to watch One Piece but 1000+ and counting episodes is really putting me off.
Solo Leveling and Kaiju look very promising
if you’re into action , start solo leveling the moment you get any free time , i’ve been watching long anime’s and recently i wanted to watch something quick and full of action which is fast paced and solo leveling is perfect for that , on top of that the animation is amazing it’s in my top 5 fighting type of animes
Solo leveling is amazing. Just trust me, give it a watch sometime.
tbh after knowing one piece i would definitely watch it even if it was 1000+ eps, and if i was to shorten that list somehow then yeah solo leveling and kaiju are at the top maybe after that vinland and assassination classroom
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
You seem really strict when it comes to animation so Imma suggest vinland saga or HxH
I love me some good animation yeah haha
The animation isn't that bad. If you're more like someone who watches a series for its plot and lore, it's great.
Fullmetal alchemist
I've heard very good things about this. Is it really that good?
quit being a bitch and get used to peak
I would also toss in X-Men.
Not listed: Justice League the animated Series
Batman: The Animated Series
Batman the Animated Series
This is the right answer
Honestly I think invincible will surpass it after it gets a couple more seasons.
Read the comics after season 1, and if you thought season 1 was wild be rest assured that there’s a lot more coming.
I'm so sorry for all the people who clearly haven't seen Spectacular Spider-Man
I agree, I feel bad for them
Concordo e discordo... To entre ele e the lord of mysteries...
Esse último ep foi Zika
Famoso farm de aura
De longe o melhor anime da temporada, tobeheroX é bom demais
