Mob Psycho 100
Bungo Stray Dogs
Noragami
OPM
FMAB
Jujutsu Kaisen
Re: Zero
SAO
Oh wow surprised u loved runway that much. Really underrated
Fyi Bungou Stray Dogs, OPM, Re:Zero and SAO aren't shounen. They're seinen and LN adaptions respectively.
Gintama
Mob Psycho 100
Attack on Titan
What anime series is the best Shonen of all time? my top 2 are FMAB and Hunter x Hunter
Personal favourite is Naruto: Shippuden, but Id say FMAB (which is my no2) is the best as its balanced all around.
Hunter x Hunter.
If you want traditional shonen, my pick is Yu Yu Hakusho.
Personally, my favorite is My Hero Academia. I also love Naruto/Boruto and FMAB. I tried HxH but it just wasn't for me, particularly once they brought in all of the ren/ten stuff.
Yeah, I'm tired of the MHA haters.
One Piece
One piece will be the Shonen King!
*is* the shonen king

Shonen or not, these are some solid choices
NARUTO
I mean depends on what each individual thinks but some of them are super solid
Some of them...
One Piece and Naruto really should be up there too.
If somebody told you “I think Gintama is the best Shonen series!”, would you agree? Why or why not? I know a lot of series are considered shonen, but I guess in this context, the person is comparing Gintama to more battle-oriented shonen, like Naruto and Bleach.
For me Gintama is not only the best shonen but the best anime ever

Same same! I mean, I love the Apothecary diaries, but I crave something else from there, while Gintama just has it all, the music, the characters, I love how much eye candy there is in general, just it has it all.
Lmao agreed. I have found very few anime that I enjoy as much as Gintama
It is best because I felt all sort of emotions watching it I wouldn't call gintama a full shonen though as it had alot blend it like some episode were pure comedy and emotional but that's what made it unique in comparison to your typical battle shonen.
It's a jack of all trades.
Literally what genre does gintama not emulate at some point? It's why it's the goat.
Gintama encapsulates life in general. It's the series that does everything. Not always perfectly, but that in itself makes it more special to me.
I don't consider it a full shonen. It's a mix of slice of life and shonen. Honestly the best parts of the series are the slice of life. None of my favorite episodes take place during the main storyline.
Yesss that’s a good way of describing it. I love the main story but my favorite episodes will always be the one about Kagura’s exercise routine or when Madao goes to court. I also really love how the main story line ties in the side stories as well 💖💖
The fat kagura episode always cracks me up. The skiing episode with the shogun too.
Gintama’s first 61 episodes were already better than both Naruto and Bleach combined.
I agree because God Nika chosen one existed, yes! But even so Gintama was always been better than One Piece.
Tomodachi Game. Death Note.
Just finished reading tomodachi game and I can confirm it’s peak (also love the flair)
1: DBZ
2: Bleach
3: Astro Boy
4: Yu Yu Hakusho
5: Saint Seiya
DBZ number 1? Bleach number 2? I might try the rest of the anime on this list just because of those two.
Dr. Stone
Vinland saga and Tokyo ghoul are not shonen
My bad, ignore them fam
When considering soundtrack, story, characters, etc (dub if you want to include that), what is the best shonen out there? Of course this is a subjective question, but I am curious of what people consider the best or at least high quality shonens, not just the number one best to clarify.
Mob Psycho 100 is one of the best shounen animes by far. Excellent characters, excellent world buildings, excellent backstories, top tier dub, great message, it's a fantastic anime.
Both Mob Psycho and OPM are listed as Seinen though...
Where? MyAnimeList doesn't list a demographic category for them at all.
My personal opinion: My Hero Academia and Kill La Kill
I have yet to see anything better than Bleach. I never really thought about it but it’s probably my favorite shounen, Jojo is great too since it keeps things fresh with every season so I’d say that’s a close second.
Bleach’s first 63 episodes are close to flawless as far as shonen. The anime as a whole is elevated big time by sound, whether it’s voice acting or the OST. I love the dub too.
It doesn’t stick the landing after those first 63 episodes in either the anime or the manga. Too much filler in the anime, and the canon stuff dawdles over insignificant characters too much.
Regardless, I am stoked for the Thousand Year Blood War anime adaptation this winter. Really hope they simulcast it and dub it fast like Yashahime.
Yu Yu Hakusho
....... My man 👍🏾
This is still mine. Incredible dub, near flawless pacing, just a great ride.
I think they mean dragon ball z lol
dbz
did you want reasons why its the best imo
Rank them if you want
All shounen, or battle shounen? If we are counting all shounen, I'd probably say my personal favorites are;
Runner-Ups: City Hunter, Kyou kara Ore wa!!, Bloom Into You, Ika Musume, Haikyuu, Samurai Champloo, Dragon Ball, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Hitori Bocchi, Digimon Tamers, Kekkai Sensen, Your Lie in April
Maoujou de Oyasumi could definitely make it into my top 10 once the last 2 episodes air. Hunter x Hunter would be WAY higher if it was more consistent, because I think Chimera Ant Arc is at least as good as any single arc in any of the other anime listed.
Top 10 Shounen:
No HxH or AoT in your top 10?
That's why I didn't put them there (tbf I haven't seen AoT yet).
Ara-ara~
Yu yu hakusho has such a special place in my heart. Full metal as well. The characters are so so well written that it makes the story so much more deep and emotional for each characters predicament. I’d say FMA truly is a solid 10 for me.
I’ve never seen yu yu kahusho but I love hxh. Do you think I would still enjoy hakusho even though it’s a little older and maybe doesn’t have the greatest visuals?
Yeah, a lot of younger kids are enjoying it. Almost all shounen is the same in a way but this one has a great story even though the third arc does drag a lot but it’s worth it to stick it to the end! If you don’t like it after 3-5 episodes it probably isn’t for you but I recommend it
for battle shounen its hunter x hunter and attack on titan
Attack on titan is considered a battle shounen?
Devilman Crybaby
Fist of the North Star
Azumanga Daioh
Getter Robo Armageddon
If it helps I like dubbed, and I’ve watch my hero academia, black clover, fire force, and dr. stone.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (not current but a very highly rated shonen with a good dub)
Attack on Titan
Assassination Classroom
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Soul Eater
Fairy Tail
Yu Yu Hakusho
Bungo Stray Dogs
One Punch Man
All of these are among my all-time favorites, but the first three listed are a must watch in my opinion. I'm a dub watcher as well and all of these have excellent dubs. They can also all be found on Funimation, except One Punch Man. Currently, only season one of One Punch Man is available dubbed.
I've also heard incredible things about Hunter x Hunter (2011), though I personally haven't seen it yet and I don't believe the entire show is dubbed yet.
Finally, the dub of both Demon Slayer and One Punch Man S2 are debuting on Toonami this upcoming Saturday (Oct 12). I've been holding off on Demon Slayer to wait for the dub, so I'm super excited. New episodes will come out weekly from there. This is currently the only way to watch the dub of these two shows.
Black Clover
Seen demon slayer yet?
Demon Slayer is a really good and really popular Shonen currently. I would also recommend Hunter X Hunter as it is really good.
Helloo!
I have no idea how to start this but here we go- I see so many girls who love shoujo, and so do I! Don't get me wrong I'm all for it and I absolutely adore shoujo, although I mostly read Manga of it lol, but when it comes to anime wise I'm always shonen. Heck my favorite anime is One piece! I'm all caught up and I'm currently on the second watch with my best friend who got me into it🥹🫶.
Where im going with this is, what's your favorite shonen anime? (If you can't choose just one, the more the merrier🤌). I'd love to see what your favorites are.
I'll also add more of my other favorites if anyone is curious 👀
— Bleach
— Dragonball
— Mashle
— mob psycho 100
— Solo leveling
— Haikyuu
— Saiki k
— cowboy bebop
— bungo stray dogs
— My hero academia💘
— Dr stone💘
I'll stop right there, I have so many more. The list can go on and on🤧
I thought it was the other way around
Majority of girls including ones I know in real life are into shonen not shoujo
I always felt like the odd one because majority of the girls I know In real life can't stand shoujo
I love both
My favorite shonen are HxH, FMA brother, JK, Attack on titans, D gray man, BSD, solo leveling
>My favorite shonen are HxH, FMA brother, JK, Attack on titans, D gray man, BSD, solo leveling
I love FMAB and HXH out of these (btw, BSD is a seinen, not a shonen)
Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood) will forever be my favourite. Others I loved in my Tumblr era in the '10s were ofc Attack on Titan, but also Tokyo Ghoul, Blue Exorcist, Soul Eater, Noragami. Also loved Haikyuu and Kuroku no Basket. I fell off watching anime before Haikyuu finished and I'm trying to find time to rewatch the whole thing.
Some underrated ones from the 2010s are, imo: Gangsta, Zankyou no Terror, Durarara!!, Deadman Wonderland. Especially the last one can get quite gory though. The anime censors it but the manga very much does NOT.
Since I got back into anime I've started catching up with the "new gen". Love JJK, The second season 2 opening is one of my all-time favourites. Demon Slayer's art is gorgeous and the storyline is good but... it's pretty slow and I'm having a hard time with it tbh. Wind Breaker feels like a very classic "power of friendship" shounen but it takes its characters bg seriously and I like that a lot. I've been wanting to get into My Hero Academia next, but haven't started yet.
I really love Mob and Saiki from your list! I’m also pretty sure Kaiju no 8 is Shonen and that show is so good (I need to start watching the new season). I also finished the JJK manga recently, and I’m excited for the anime to continue.
Omgg, that's very cool! And yes, Kaiju no 8 is shonen, so no worries lol🥹. I actually haven't seen it yet, but its definitely on my list to watch👀.
Yooooooo Jjk is very good, I haven't read it but watched the anime. I am currently anime only, but I do know a lot of spoilers. When i heard that they're finally coming back with new content, I got so excited ❤️🩹❤️🩹
Definitely! Though my tastes have been more towards seinen lately, I still have quite a few shounen which are favorites: One Piece, Gintama, Attack on Titan, Full Metal Alchemist, Hell's Paradise. With Jjk I have this bizarre relationship where I found the story and character progression to be disappointing, yet I am still really attached to it.
Me too!! I love shonen but I'm getting kind of tired of the 'young underdog who never gives up' storyline. I've also been leaning more towards seinen and fighting animes. Any recs?
Sure, I can give a list of some that I particularly loved, though disclaimer, I probably watch more shounen fighting anime, I'm more into the atmospheric stuff in seinen.
That being said:
Vinland Saga (yes, starting out pretty basic, but I really do love the story, I'm also almost done with the manga)
Orb: on the movement of the earth was one from last year that got me hooked
Mushishi for the atmospheric vibes
Black Lagoon for the badass female character
Golden Kamuy
Dorohedoro
Land of the lustrous (I've only read the manga for this one, but it also has an anime)
One piece Attack on titan Dr Stone Haikyuu Hunter X Hunter Demon Slayor The Seven Deadly Sins My Hero Academia
YESSS. Omg I forgot to add Dr. Stone and MHA. I absolutely love them🤧🤧. You have amazing taste 💘
So do you! I also like Bungo stray dogs and Saiki K
I know some girls in real life who watch and read shoujo but most prefer shonen but online I discovered that so many girks into shoujo especially now
In the past, shoujo had such a bad rep and even now, it's gets a lot of criticism, it's romance and action are considered inferior and weak
>you really have good taste
Aww thank you 😊
I highly recommend reading and watching D Gray Man, the anime has some issue but the manga is fantastic and has a gothic vibe, it's a bit long but it's worth it
top shonen anime series
Here are some top Shonen anime series to consider:
My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia)
Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)
Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba)
One Piece

Hunter x Hunter
Jujutsu Kaisen
Recommendation: If you're new to Shonen anime, starting with My Hero Academia or Demon Slayer is a great choice due to their modern appeal and accessibility. For classic fans, One Piece or Naruto offers a nostalgic journey with rich storytelling. Each series has its unique charm, so consider what themes or styles resonate with you!
