Accessing the LG Content Store
To install apps on your LG Smart TV, you typically need to access the LG Content Store. This is usually done by pressing the "Home" button on your remote control. However, if your remote lacks a home button, there are alternative methods. Some users suggest using a USB mouse or keyboard to navigate the TV interface [1:2]. Additionally, some LG TVs have a joystick button on the back that can be used for navigation
[1:2].
App Availability and Limitations
LG's app store may not have as many apps as other platforms like Amazon or Roku [4]. Popular streaming apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV are available
[2:1], but more niche apps might require additional devices like an Amazon FireTV stick
[4]. If you're looking for specific apps, it might be beneficial to check if they are bundled with other services (e.g., ESPN+ through Hulu)
[4:1].
Troubleshooting App Installation Issues
If you encounter issues when trying to install or update apps, such as receiving errors after updates, several solutions have been suggested. One common fix is to change your DNS server to 8.8.8.8, which has reportedly resolved installation issues for multiple users [5:2]
[5:3]. Another simple solution is to turn off the TV for a while and then try again
[5:1].
Using Third-Party Apps
For those interested in third-party apps not available on the LG Content Store, it's important to note that LG TVs run on WebOS, which limits the availability of certain Android-based apps [3:1]. If you wish to use Android-specific apps, you might need to consider an Android TV or an external device that supports these apps.

Tried to upload pics but can’t so just going to try and describe the issue. The LG smart TV is one of the ones where the apps pop up along the bottom of the TV. The remote control has no home button which is an issue because every Google result says the first step of downloading new apps is to click the home button. Have tried downloading a remote control app but can’t seem to connect it to the TV. Help much appreciated! Trying to download Netflix
Do you have a simple USB mouse ?.. I know many of the LG TV's I've ever worked on,. plugging in a USB keyboard or USB Mouse worked.
Also should have buttons along the bottom or back of the TV. Some LG TV's have a small "joystick" button on the back,. which is what you use to navigate with if you lose the remote.
Not sure if they might be of better help, but there does seem to be some LGTV specific sub-reddit groups.

Probably be good to provide the exact model number of your TV as well a clear picture of your Remote.
Which apps can i possibly download to watch series and sports games on a lg smart tv?
Apple, Netflix, Amazon etc
Hi team
I have recently got an LG Smart TV and I was wondering if there was anyway of directly downloading Typhoon TV and Vola sports onto the TV?
Cheers for the help
Need an Android Television for that,,, like a Sony.
I love my 55" CX. I've never owned a better TV in terms of picture quality or sound. With that being said, LG's App Store is sorely lacking...unlike Amazon or Roku. I was expecting them to have all the apps such that I wouldn't need to also use an Amazon FireTV stick with it.
Does anyone know if they plan on adding more apps? (Tin foil hat) Is LG paid off by Amazon/Roku to not have all the apps so owners have to buy something else?
What apps are you looking for?
Fox, NBC, TNT, ESPN, TBS, ABC, basically all the TV channel apps that you'd find on Amazon's or Roku's app store
Some of the apps your looking for either changed or got put in with one app. For example NBC might have changed to the Peacock app now and ESPN is in Hulu. When I got Disney Plus I could watch games and UFC fights through Hulu because Espn+ is included. I know I was looking for Retro Crush app and found out it’s bundled with Lg channels.
That's interesting...I'll give that a try. Thanks for the info
Yeah it’s not bad for a demo of the real remote just note that you can’t use the motion sensor in your phone to use the pointer for the remote you have to use your phone like a track pad. It’s not bad at all just using the remote is faster also the app lets you control other LG products if you have them like a washer and dryer.
App developers are going to prioritize the highest volume platforms. There are a lot of android phones, so from there to an android tv app is a smaller lift than an app for WebOS.
Well I saw there was an update so I installed it. After it was done I got signed out of my LG account and had to accept all the terms and conditions. Well I do all that and when I go to open up Netflix I get told that I need to update the app to open it. I click update and the download shows it’s updating and once done I get a notification saying it did not install. It happens for every other app I have and Cannot open a thing. Very frustrating. How do I go about fixing this?
The fix is to change your DNS server to 8.8.8.8
Thank you so much it worked
Currently facing the same issue, tried restarting and the memory optimizer. Nothing works
The fix is to change your DNS server to 8.8.8.8
I will try this when I get home and let yall know if it worked
I had the same problem. Turned the TV off for awhile and now it's all good
Seem like the LG system is down? Nothing works, hard reset does nothing.
Unhappy customer from Denmark
Same here, LG server must be down all over the world
I just contated lg support and they suggested a solution which actually worked for me - for now at least.
I am located in germany, so I cant say if anything similar works in other locations but it might be worth a try.
What i did:
Go into general settings -> system -> location
I changed the location for lg services - NOT THE GENERAL LOCATION - to austria (maybe any close country works??) after this the tv restarts.
After the restart, turn off the tv, wait 20 seconds, turn it on again
Now change the location for lg services back to automatic (or germany in my case) - tv restarts again.
After this everything seems to be working fine for now. I factory reset my tv (shouldnt have done that) before and am now able to install apps again.
I was finally able to get the user agreement to click on. But still the same issue with the apps….until I did this!! So thank you! It worked!
What seemed to be important was following your exact instructions. It didn’t work unless I unplugged the tv for 20 seconds…..
Hello everyone,
I need a good app for my LG TV. Any suggestions?
Stremio is on there and I think there's a way to add IPTV to the addons
Me to I just use firesticks got a LG and a Sony Smart TV
IBO Player Pro was recommended by my source and works great but has a bit of function over form approach. I like that it is easy to hide categories you don't want to be shown.
Smarters is my backup option.
Would also like to know the answer to this 🤔

Smarters pro works free on lg website.
I just purchased an LG gram and like many others I am not a fan of windows 11. I downgraded to windows 10 and as I go to install the new drivers for my gram so I can adjust keyboard lighting ect. I realize there is no options for windows 10. Is there anyone that can help me?
Can you install LG Update and Recovery?
search up ur laptop model number on the lg website for software/service and you should find downloads to install lg update
randomly me and my sister have just bought an lgtv at the same time, but cannot find jellyfin on their app store. I saw that a year ago the devs were trying to get it on the webos store, but no update since then. any news?
Not released yet. You either install in dev mode or jailbreak your tv
Was there ever an LG app for it? I think they may not have a lot of TV apps yet. I use Apple TV and can't seem to find it, either. Only one I can find is called Infuse, requires installing their own Jellyfin plugin, kinda has a bad GUI, and costs like $90. Chromecast or similar may be the best bet for now.
You can use Swiftfin on Apple TV and it’s absolutely amazing!
Thanks for the idea! I looked into it and it sounds awesome, but I think it requires using testdrive which can cause other issues on Apple TV, right?
EDIT: Never mind! They replaced testdrive with a new one called TestFlight that is way less intrusive! Thanks so much :D
