TL;DR You can send PDF files directly through WhatsApp by selecting the attachment option and choosing the file from your device. For more advanced options like sending PDFs automatically or to unsaved contacts, third-party apps or software might be required.
Sending PDFs Directly
WhatsApp allows users to send PDF files directly as attachments in chats. You simply need to tap the attachment icon (usually a paperclip), choose "Document," and select the PDF file you wish to send from your device's storage. This method is straightforward and works for both personal and business accounts [3].
Converting PDFs to Images
If you prefer to share content from a PDF as an image, you can convert the PDF to an image format using various software tools. Once converted, you can send the image via WhatsApp just like any other photo. Tools like PDF to Image Converter or online services can facilitate this conversion [2:1]
[2:3].
Automating PDF Sending
For those interested in automating the process of sending PDFs, Tasker combined with plugins like AutoNotification, AutoShare, or AutoTools can be used to set up workflows that send PDFs automatically. This requires some technical setup and understanding of Android automation tools [3:1].
Sending PDFs to Unsaved Contacts
To send a PDF to a number not saved in your contacts, you can use third-party apps such as Whatsping. This app allows you to type the phone number directly into a number pad and send messages without saving the contact first [5:1].
Troubleshooting PDF Opening Issues
Some users have reported issues opening PDFs received via WhatsApp due to app compatibility problems following updates. If you encounter this issue, ensure your PDF reader app is up-to-date or try using a different PDF reader app to open the files [4:1].
Hello fellas! I understand you can add a video or gif in a PDF with adobe.
Will the video or gif play if you share it via whatsapp?
Thanks in advance
If you have software that can insert or add a video, the recipient will be able to play it if they open the PDF with software that can play the video.

Hey guys, is there any way I can send a PDF file or a message with one automatically with Tasker?
Macrodroid would let you send a message but I don't see any way you can add a file with it.
Thanks in advance.
Pretty sure you can do it with some combo of AutoNotification (send msgs), AutoShare\AutoTools to add a file, or at worse some AutoInput to mimic sending a file manually.
Another option is to use LogCat, do it manually, parse from the log what was done and code it using Java\Intents
Wow.. this looks pretty advanced for my beginner level 😁 Though this is my first time hearing about some of those tasks I do understand the logic and Imma try them out.
Hi! When someone sends me a pdf via whatsapp and I click on it, it asks me which app to use but non of the apps shown are PDFs readers. Outside of Whatsapp my PDFs Open without issue. Anybody else has this problem? Thanks
Si, casualmente mí novia empezó con ese problema hoy luego de la actualización de WhatsApp de ayer, al parecer es problema con la última actualización en algunos celulares.
Gracias!
The pdf is generated within the app using flutter pdf module
here is the solution just type your number in the number pad and click the whatsapp icon to send the message to that number. first you need to download whatsping app which is available in playstore, then only you can do this
here is the link of the app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsping
Me too, almost tried everything without any solution, it is really annoying issue.. iphone 15PM
What iPhone do you have? If I can know Thank you :)
iphone 15 Pro Max
Are the PDFs password protected?
No. Also, the people to whom I send the PDFs can see the file in preview. I leave you here under an example:
This is what appears to the person I send it to. How will you see this person if they can see the preview. However, since I am the one sending it, I do not have the option to preview it.
Um, maybe don’t doxx yourself?
For about the last year, I've been trying to do something with my iPhone that should be pretty simple, but I can't figure it out.
Let me start by saying that I don't use iCloud and don't intend to. I have it disabled on my phone, so any answers that amount to "use iCloud" will not be helpful to me. However, if the answer is, "you can't do it without iCloud," that would be good to know.
Here's what I want to do:
I've got step 1 down. No problem. I just don't know how to do Step 2.
After AirDropping the PDF file, the iPhone prompts me to choose which app I want to open it with. If I open it in iBooks, I can share it, but not via WhatsApp. If I open it in Files, it seems to just sit there. No share option is present. If I go into a WhatsApp chat and use the '+' button, I can't find the document anywhere.
I must be missing something. This seems like a simple task, but I'm not having any luck. The method I've been using for the last year is to take a photo of my MacBook's screen and send that… pretty primitive.
What's the secret? Do I need to download an app to make this happen? Or is it just not possible to do?
Bonus points: If I can view and annotate the PDF on the iPhone before sending (like a step 1.5 above), that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.
download Acrobat Reader on your iPhone: https://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/adobe-acrobat-reader/id469337564?l=en&mt=8
Thank you. That did it.
Try using web.whatsapp.com, you can send it directly from your Macbook, seems it'll make things faster :)
Hi! Someone in my uni group chat has send a pdf in our whatsapp chat. I have accidentally clicked on it and opened it. Can opening it result in getting a virus on my iPhone? My phone is updated to the latest iOS.
Anything is possible but it is highly improbable.
If you’re unsure about the PDF file, upload it to https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload and scan it.
Thank you for this
What should I do then?
Hello! For some reason I'm unable to forward PDF files on WhatsApp web. But I can forward images, for example. Is this a new limitation? I was able to do this 2 days ago.
Thanks!
Same problem I emailed the support team and their answer was “you can forward messages to up to 5 contacts” brilliant lol
This really messes up my job
Magically it started to work today. WTF?!!? LOL
hey! did u find a solution?
idem ... :-(
It seems the probem happens when I try to select which PDF's to forward. Individually, one by one it seems to work.
Hello,
I just made a campaign and designed a newsletter for our company.
Now I'm trying to export the newsletter to a .pdf file to share with some colleagues that don't have acces to Outlook. We have a WhatsApp group and this is why I would like to share the Newsletter (campaign) in a .pdf file with them.
Is there any simple way to do this?
Maybe there are better solutions, please share them!
Thank you for the help!
(I'm Dutch, sorry for my terrible English)
Hey there! We have steps listed here for saving a campaign as a .pdf.
