TL;DR
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
When a Lenovo laptop won't turn on, the first step is to ensure that it is properly connected to a power source. Some users have found success by leaving the laptop plugged in for an extended period before attempting to turn it on again [2:2]. Additionally, performing a hard reset by holding the power button for 10 to 30 seconds with the laptop unplugged can sometimes resolve the issue
[1].
Battery and Power Issues
If the laptop was recently serviced, such as having its battery replaced, it's worth checking if the power button might be damaged or loose [4:1]. Cleaning the charger tip and the computer's power port with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol may also help ensure a proper connection
[2:6].
BIOS and Firmware Concerns
A corrupted BIOS or firmware can prevent a laptop from turning on. One user suggested disconnecting and reconnecting the RAM or removing the BIOS battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds [1:2]. Another noted that similar symptoms led to a motherboard replacement due to firmware corruption
[3:1]. A factory reset might be necessary if these steps don't work
[3:5].
Technical Support and Warranty
If the laptop still doesn't turn on after trying these solutions, contacting Lenovo support is advisable. Users have shared mixed experiences with Lenovo's customer service, with some facing delays in response and repair times [2:3]
[2:5]. Generating an e-ticket with tech support early can expedite the process
[2:5].
Further Recommendations
For persistent issues, consider watching troubleshooting videos specific to Lenovo laptops [3:2] or consulting professional repair services. If data recovery is a concern, backing up your system regularly is crucial to avoid data loss in case of hardware failure

Hi, I wanted to use my lenovo laptop but it wasn't turning on. Alright just let it charge I said to myself. But even after the battery led turned white, pressing the power button did nothing. I've looked online and followed various steps to fix the problem. Holding the power button for 10 secs or even 30 secs with nothing plugged in but it didn't work. Finally I tried the Novo button and nothing, screen remains black.
For context it's been in a case in one of my drawers for like... 3 months and I've had it since 2019. Never dropped, nothing evet poured on it and I've never had any problems with it prior to this.
How can I fix this at home ?
Corrupted bios maybe or try disconnecting and reconnecting the RAM. Or try taking out bios battery hold power button for 30 seconds.
Dead cpu or motherboard.
Same thing happened to me last night the difference is i was using my laptop when the screen went black and now i'm trying to boot up but nothing changes.
Hello everybody I need help my lenovo laptop is not turning on last time I used it it was running perfectly I shut it off like usual and now it's not turning on I tried it with the laptop being plugged in without being plugged in tried holding the power button any help wanted thanks 💪
Leave it plugged in for a bit first then try again
The charging port light is flashing is that supposed to do that?
Clean your charger tip and on the computer with a qtip and some rubbing alcohol
Better generate e-ticket with the tech support now as you will have to wait a few weeks or months for them to just escalate your case to the level 2 tech support and you will have to wait a few more weeks to have a technician to fix your laptop. Good luck. I'm a premium care and adp warranty consumer so...ya
I've worked for Lenovo PC Think department in Europe (I do the servers now) and I can honestly say, when I did it it took literally 2 days for it to be picked up and 5 business days for it to be returned. These are of course Business laptops, but still not weeks. Unfortunately the company I worked for lost the bid and I "lost" my position as tech support so I can't say for how it is now, but until feb. of this year it was less than 2 weeks round trip, unless specific parts were not directly available to the repair center.
Hi I'm sorry to hear you lost your position as lenovo tech support and glad you still got a position in lenovo. I'm not sure how it works maybe different country might have different procedures.
I'm upset with how I'm being treated as a premium care and adp warranty subscribers, I'm paying for the premium price for a good reasons.
For my side in Singapore, lenovo vantage does not handle cases from Singapore, the cap manager didn't reply me from 2 weeks until now.
5 times of remotely fix my laptop and 5 times of keep asking the same questions. Even when I told the tech support I suspect there's loose screw.
Who don't want to show off that they received the best laptop rather than complaining.
So my laptop was factory reset and I decided to try and use it and load it up but I had forgot to charge it and it shut down mid session where it says "do not turn off", and it did turn off, and now it won't turn back on, the light for the power button goes on for a few seconds and then it shuts down, nothing appears on screen
Could have something to do with these lenovo issues. Hope it helps
Does it happen while connected to the AC adapter?
Yep
Don't want to frighten you, but I've had the same in the past with a Dell laptop, and the result of that was that the motherboard had to be replaced due to firmware corruption.
I don't know if this is the case for you, but if I were you I'd contact Lenovo support...
I tired holding for 30 seconds and plug it in again, it doesn't work. I even tried holding the novo button too, also don't work. Oh and also last week i also brought this laptop to a repairshop to change the battery but idk what causes it completely turned off like this. can someone help me?
Do you think the power button could be damaged (loose)?
My Lenovo laptop hasn’t turned on in a week or so, the light for power is on but my laptop doesn’t work; the screen is either black but on, or doing some glitchy thing like this! I’ve looked online but I can’t find anything that helps me, I don’t know anything about laptops😞 If anyone knows why this is happening and how to fix it I would appreciate it soooo much, I haven’t backed up my laptop in a while (stupid I know) and I don’t want to lose everything
The laptop is dead
hiiii! im so sorry to bother anyone but my lenovo laptop hasnt been turning on and the first place i decided to come to was here. there seems to be nothing wrong with my charger and power adapter and i have pressed the power button for 10s with both the charger on and off, i can get more help in the morning but it seems the laptop isnt completely off, the caps button is on and the power button is flashing, and sometimes the keyboard and screen will light up and turn back off again, it's heating up and i put it by a fan to cool it down while i figure this out, im a kid so im really new to this stuff and both my parents are asleep. i hope it doesnt overheat while i sleep because its 11pm and i have plans tomorrow, i think ill stay up keeping an eye on this post, any advice though?
edit: im gonna unplug it so it doesnt heat up as fast
Assuming that it is a laptop that has an internal battery, get a T4 or T3 screwdriver and open it up from the back. Unplug the battery and allow it to discharge and then replug the battery back in again. This is very common at this time of year when static electricity accumulates in the air.
Do u think that kid is a Technician
Why do you even ask? Whoever it is cannot figure it out how to fix the problem.
Stick a paper clip in the hole under the laptop, gently for about 10 seconds
Do you even see the Lenovo logo flash or is the screen completely off?
Hey everyone, so today in the afternoon my Lenovo laptop just suddenly turned off while i was just playing videogames. This happened at around 4pm pst and even 5 hours later it wont turn on. I searched online for a few answers but most of them involve removing components and im not confident enough to do any of that. I opened up the laptop just to check to see if anything looked obviously wrong and aside from a bit of dust on the fans, a weird piece of what seems to be masking tape near a fan, and some odd looking copper colored stain on the bottom lid, nothing looks wrong. If there may be anything that I can try to do I'll give it a shot, but if not I'll just take it to repair but want to make sure before having to pay anything. On another note the little led light to show if my laptop is charging doesn't turn on when plugged in so Im already fearing it could be something with the battery. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks in advance
Well, I can almost guarantee it's not your battery.
...it's probably just that your motherboard is shot. There should be lights of some sort whether or not there's a battery at all (it should most likely run without a battery too). If you've got nothing, then something on the board has probably died. You could get lucky and it be something like a damaged DC input jack, though.
Since you've already got it open, I'd say remove the charger, unplug the battery, maybe let it sit for a couple hours, then try plugging in the charger (but leave the battery unplugged). If it does something, then it was probably a weird anomaly and you can just reconnect the battery and forget about it. If still nothing, you've probably got a dead board or screwy power input.
Hi! I bought my Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 (16GB RAM, RTX 4060, i5-13450HX) about three months ago. From the beginning, there were a few white dead pixels, but I didn’t think much of it since they weren’t really noticeable. However, today, while I was in the middle of a meeting, my laptop suddenly shut down. The screen went black, and nothing I’ve tried since has worked.
I unplugged it, held the power button for 60 seconds, tried different outlets—still nothing. There’s no backlight, no image on the screen, and no charging light when I plug it in. The battery was full when it turned off.
Please help! I will go to the service center if nothing works((
I bought the 2025 model and the motherboard died after a month of use. You know what's saddest? The store does not want to exchange or refund my money. The warranty is misleading and misleading, there is no good update to change the board, so it is full of bugs. And if that wasn't enough, the guide you sign after support has a note in small letters THAT YOU AUTHORIZE THE USE OF RECONDITIONED PARTS! In other words: Lenovo LOQ is a walking bomb that could explode at any moment! Hence the support solution is to scrap it with old reused parts, which reduces their losses and increases yours. My advice? Report the problem and refuse support, call a lawyer and file a lawsuit for material and moral damages. We pay a lot to use the product, not to replace parts with old and scrapped things until the annual warranty period ends and it becomes your problem to pay for assistance. This is the reality of Lenovo Loq.
Your adapter is not charging your device if your device was drained out then it's probably the adapter issue if you have an alternate adapter try using it. Red LED supposed to blink when connected to power.
Well it's in warranty so give it for repair to the Lenovo or the store you bought it for. There is 3 things that could be wrong.
exactly! and in any case, they need to take it back to the place they purchased it from, or set up the warranty claim through vantage.
Ya ur motherboards fucked bro try to get a warranty claim Also if ur buying new and have any issues like in your case dead pixels dont buy it get a different unit vecause problems like these may be hiding under
I don't get it why people still buy loq's.
When it’s not frying itself it works great
Its got the best price to performance
What is the manufacturing date??
Dunno, I cant check it now because I have no laptop 😅
The manufacturing date is on the back of the laptop
Look on the laptop box it came with
try pinhole reset or battery disconnect
have you tried turning it off and on again
Details ?
Ask gPT
NVM, I figured it out. I disconnected the battery and did a hard reset. t works fine Now! Thx for all the advice.
Hello. Please help me, my Lenovo laptop LOQ 15irx is not turning on and isn't showing any signs of life. Currently I'm freaking out so please help if you can, I bought it less than a year ago but because I'm living in Iran I don't have any access to Lenovo support so I'm asking you guys for help. The last thing that I did was playing dark pictures anthology the devil in me and it suddenly shut down on it own and than didn't turn back on, I checked for burnt odor but there's nothing. My power cable doesn't turns on the led light in the back, when I press the power button nothing happens, tried the 1 minute method but I don't have access to battery, so without getting the battery out I tried it and it didn't work. I checked for system health on Lenovo app on my laptop just yesterday and it said my laptop is in perfect condition. I also played games on the lowest possible graphics, capped at 30 fps and used cooling pad, I didn't hear any more than usual fan sound. I didn't use any new thermal paste nor cleaned the fans unfortunately since the day I bought it (less than a year ago) Please help if you can, please don't give me thumbs down let more people see this post if you can I can't afford to buy a new laptop please be understanding.
Thanks for your help and wish you the best and that you wouldn't be in the same situation as me. Also sorry for my bad English and me freaking out, and if you require anymore info please just ask I try to give as much info as possible

lenovo laptop won't turn on
Here are some key considerations and troubleshooting steps:
Check Power Supply:
Perform a Hard Reset:
Inspect for Signs of Life:
Check RAM and Hardware Connections:
External Display Test:
Boot into Safe Mode:
Recommendation: If none of these steps work, it may be a hardware issue (like a faulty motherboard or power supply). In this case, contacting Lenovo support or taking the laptop to a certified technician for diagnosis and repair is advisable. Always ensure your data is backed up regularly to avoid loss in such situations.
