TL;DR
SSD Connection and Health
A recurring theme in the discussions is the possibility of SSD-related issues. Users experiencing "no bootable device" errors should first ensure that their SSD is securely seated [1:2]. If the SSD is properly connected but still not detected, it may be failing and require replacement
[3:1]. Backing up data as a precaution is advisable.
BIOS Settings and Boot Order
Adjusting BIOS settings can often resolve boot issues. For Linux users facing black screens after installation, setting the HDD/SSD as the primary boot option in BIOS might help [2:2]. Additionally, turning off secure boot in BIOS can resolve driver conflicts, especially with Nvidia drivers
[2:4].
Hardware Checks
Physical checks of hardware components are recommended to rule out loose connections or faulty cables. In one case, a user found that a ribbon cable failure was causing intermittent boot problems [5:3]. Ensuring all components are firmly connected and considering potential static discharge issues can also be beneficial
[5:5].
Power Cycling and Hard Resets
Sometimes, simply performing a hard reset by holding down the power button can resolve boot issues temporarily [4:2]. This method has worked for users experiencing Bitlocker repair loops or other unexpected boot screens
[4:3].
Additional Recommendations
If these steps do not resolve the issue, consulting Lenovo support or visiting community forums like Discord servers dedicated to Lenovo products can provide further assistance [1:1],
[4:1]. Regularly checking S.M.A.R.T. data for drive health can also preemptively identify disk problems
[5:2],
[5:4].
I’ve ran into this issue with my laptop (lenovo) where the day after a heavy use of editing or video games i wake up the next morning trying to boot it and get the “no bootable device” error, i try to choose the SSD in the boot order but it doesn’t show up as an option, i restart the laptop like 7-8 times in a row then suddenly it boots up normally and works fine, this happened 3 times over the past 2 months, what issue is this?
Open your laptop and check that the SSD is securely seated in place. If it’s not, correct it and that will fix it. If it is, your SSD is failing and needs to be replaced.

Hi i have a lenovo laptop, I installed linux mint on it but after restarting it doesn't boot into the system it just goes to a black screen with a flashing underscore right after linux mint logo, how can I fix it? thanks in advance
Boot into BIOS. Move your HDD/SSD as your first option. F10 then enter.
¿Puede describir físicamente el modelo del Lenovo, la capacidad del disco duro y la memoria RAM, por favor?
Share specs and things you did before rebooting or shutting down.
8gb ram, intel core i7-7500U cpu, geforce 940mx gpu, all I did was download steam from the software manager but did not install it
Did you install nvidja drivers in the driver manager? If so, check if secure boot is on. Turn it off in BIOS. Test if that works. If it worked, you can either keep secure boot off, or sign the driver.
You downloaded but not install? Do you mean that it failed to install? If you come across this again, sharing the error message can help.

Your ssd might be cooked. I’d back up your data and find a new ssd.
Hi!
I’ve been having an issue with my Lenovo LOQ. It was working fine just earlier, then it eventually went to sleep on its own and I looked over to my side and noticed it was booted into a Bitlocker repair screen.
I followed the advice listed here in the first response; https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/2194654/stuck-in-an-automatic-repair-bitlocker-loop?page=1#answers and it no longer shows the bitlocker screen, but now this is the issue present…
Any advice for getting it to boot up proper? I have no clue what caused this to happen.
Update, after hard restarting (holding the power down until it goes dark) everything booted fine!!
intel or ryzen processor?
It’s a Ryzen processor, after doing everything and just hard power cycling it works fine now!

I have a W530 that has been my workhorse for the past 5 years. Recently I have been having issues getting the machine to boot.
The symptoms are the same on a docking station, plugged in, or on battery power. Pressing the power button and using the fingerprint scanner yield the same result.
When I power on, I should see the lenovo logo flash on the screen and then immediately boot into windows. The initial splash screen is accompanied by a "function check" of sorts, where the keyboard and reading lights cycle on and off and the fans spin up and down. I always imagined it was being scared out of some deep sleep.
Recently it does the function check, but there is no lenovo logo and no boot into windows. If i try a few times, removing/reinstalling the battery between tries, I get it to start. After it posts and boots into windows it is stable. I have done all of the dummy checks that I can think of. There are no loose components, everything inside the chassis is clean, and no changes have been made to the hardware in over a year.
I have never seen this before and don't know where to start troubleshooting. Where should I start poking to find the root cause of this issue?
Thank you for your help!

Edit: was able to get it to boot once. I had pulled both hard drives to force this thing to give me the BIOS menu. I disabled hardware security, in case that was not playing nice with Windows, and enabled all diagnostic tools. I then powered down, reinstalled the drives, and booted into windows on the first try. I checked my BIOS version, turns out was super out of date, so I flashed the most recent BIOS. I've power cycled the machine a few times and it seems to be working. I'll update if this wasn't the solution.
Disk problem? Have a look at the S.M.A.R.T. data.
SMART shows all drives good.
Turns out you were mostly right. Something failed in the hard drive bay (my money is on a ribbon cable given its intermittent nature). The drive is fine. I printed a case for it and plugged it into my dock. Not worth ripping the old machine apart to actually fix this.
Glad that you got to the bottom of it!
I had a similar issue with my W530 although mine would also shutdown randomly at times.
It seems to be an issue with this model and nobody has figured out a proper solution but one thing I've done is opened the RAM compartment on the bottom of the laptop and slightly bent the metal fingers on the inside of the RAM cover back towards the case so it makes better context with it when closed.
One of the theories with this issue is that it's related to static or electrical discharge but nothing has been proven yet.
My first thought was that I had jostled a component loose (happened once before with my hdd after I took a spill carrying the laptop). Nowadays it pretty much lives in its dock so nothing should really move. Everything passed the push test. Just to be certain I unplugged and re-plugged everything.
I have had this PC for a few years now. The errors seen here have occurred just a year after purchase but I couldn’t get a human for support. Eventually rebooting several times would “solve” the issue. Today though I have spent over an hour in various loops of this and have had no luck booting up. Despite what it says, all fans are spinning during the boot phase. No longer very adept at PC hardware, and my best friend that works IT for a big company has NO idea how to resolve and said this appears to be a very specific Lenovo issue, here we go.
A common issue with Lenovo Legion laptops involves fan behavior and TDP (Thermal Design Power) limitations, especially when the laptop is plugged in. Fans may spin up unexpectedly or not spin at all, even when the laptop is idling or at low loads. This can be due to the fan speed being linked to TDP rather than core temperature.
Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:
TDP profiles and charging:
Running at a high TDP profile (20W+) while plugged in and the battery is below 20% can cause the GPU to downclock intermittently.
Solution:
Charge the laptop to above 20% before plugging it in or use a lower TDP profile.
Fans spinning even when idling: This is often normal, as gaming laptops have more hardware that generates heat, and fans need to run to compensate.
Fans not spinning at all: This could be a software issue, a hardware problem, or a BIOS issue.
Solution:
Update BIOS: Check for and install the latest BIOS version from the Lenovo Support page.
Update Drivers: Ensure all drivers, especially for chipset, GPU, and power management, are up to date.
Reinstall Vantage software: Consider uninstalling and reinstalling Lenovo Vantage.
Restart: A simple restart can sometimes resolve the issue.
Check for red exclamation warnings in BIOS: These might be related to DAservice not being triggered correctly.
BIOS reset: If the issue persists, try loading the default BIOS settings.
Fan connectors: Check for loose or damaged fan connectors.
Fan blades: Inspect the fan blades for obstructions or damage.
Dust: Clean the fans and vents to ensure proper airflow.
External factors: Make sure the laptop is in a well-ventilated area.
If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's recommended to contact Lenovo Service for further assistance.
Also...
Your "no boot partition found" you don't mention whether you have 1 or 2 m2 drives.
It's possible your main drive is going bad
It shows I have 2 from the boot list. This seems like it could be the issue, as this has been slowly getting worse. Prior to yesterday, this would happen periodically, and often letting the PC sit for a few minutes then rebooting would “fix” it. But as of right now, no amount of letting it sit or rebooting has gotten me into windows.
this. you can't just have an OS and then suddenly not have one
I imagine there's a lot of collected dust for sure
For the future:
Thanks for your reply! A couple things: This is not a laptop and all 6 fans spin. I think the fan-related warnings are a red herring.
Okay if this is a desktop then check to see if you have one or two M2 drives.
It is very possible your primary drive which is the boot device has gone bad if it's gone bad it may not be detected when it is physically plugged in.
Kind of like a thumb drive when they go bad they just all the sudden stop working.
I'd grab a Linix Mint bootable USB and then grab this system OCBASE stress test below to see if the fan message is really something else. Run from the USB. Anything in the BIOS to ignore errors? And reseat connectors which I assume you've already done.
There's a Legion Toolkit but of course this assumes you're up and running
https://github.com/BartoszCichecki/LenovoLegionToolkit/blob/master/README.md
Thanks for the info, but I honestly dont know what to do with this information. I bought this because I wanted a gaming PC that I didn’t have to support because I don’t build PC anymore. I am so out of the game that most of what you mention doesn’t mean anything to me :(
Given this just replace the fans like so. I'm sure it's easy to find with your serial number.

Ended up having my buddy replace the motherboard and cpu cooler. Everything has been perfect for 2 weeks+.
By the way...
It's far easier to troubleshoot or offer advice via good descriptions VS out of focus YouTube videos.
I agree, but it was late and I am not the greatest at using my words to describe things.
My laptop won't boot it started freezing then I wanted to do reinstall but it freeze and now it won't even boot all lights are on and nothing happen pls help (Lenovo V15 G3 IAP CTO)
Hi grzesiek123s! Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble. Kindly unplug the charger. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds then try to turn the machine on. -Jomz_Lenovo
It works but there is one problem when i try to install windows 11 it gives me bsod but ubuntu is installing without any problem but it is laggy as hell
I think it may have something to do with the bios. After I updated my laptop it also goes blank after the lenovo logo. Turns out its just the bios updated screwed up my display driver so I had to roll back to a previous version
No, AFTER Logo is usually a GOOD thing. BEFORE logo is bad (in terms of bios problems).
Even ON logo is fine, because on UEFI mode, booting keeps the logo displayed when the OS already took over the boot process. UEFI/BIOS is only used until the bootloader/OS takes over the boot process, after that the OS only uses UEFI/BIOS for hardware and clock information.
Lenovo y545. Mine does the same. But I only get the legion splash screen if I have an external monitor hooked up. Other wise my notebook monitor just stays black. I’ve made it to windows by repeatedly hitting the power button. I think it has to deal with the bios. I updated the bios back in March and I haven’t been able to use my notebook since pretty much. I need to try and revert back to the older bios later.
I guess it has something to do with bios, mine started acting strange for a few months and then this happend..
if you have access to another PC you can make a Windows 10 Installer USB, boot from it, and attempt a repair
I had the same problem a week ago at one of our offices. both the ssd and the hard drive failed. I replaced the hard drive and install the OS again. its working fine now.
Ok, so, I managed to get to repair mode but only option that worked for me was to reinstall the windows.. but a couple of days later same thing happend. I was hoping to get some info if someone had the same issue..
I have a problem same problem as yours but on other manufacturer. It might cause because of the stupid Commulative Update or smth. I only fixed the stupid bug by buying a Pro licence then pauce the update for 365 days
I've never had this happen but could it be something you installed that caused this? Also check the life of your SSD it could be on it's way out
Shut down manually
After you reset the OS. Run a hardware scan through vantage.
I had the same thing happen after installing some bios update. Had to wipe and reinstall windows along with the shit bloatware they pre-installed.
This is after 2 keyboard failure and horrible assembly (kinked ribbons), screen connector loosens, speaker distortion driver issues... all in 2 years of sparse usage.. Never buying lenovo again.
try this
I've taken out the battery, CMOS, ram, HDD, ssd, and put it back in again. But it hasn't worked. It does this boot loading loop, and it's been doing it for the past 24 hours. Any help would be appreciated
If it never goes to the os, it’s either a bad motherboard, a bad ssd, or a corrupt os.
It’s usually a bad ssd.
Checked everywhere online and can’t seem to find anything. Every time I power it back on it brings me back to this screen. Would appreciate any help!
Need more info. We lack crucial info to determine what could be wrong. All I can tell is that you're missing the os
Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide. I have a Lenovo Z16 Gen 1. No USB so I cannot use a data recovery software via USB. Ran diagnostics and did not have any issues detected.
