When a Lenovo laptop is stuck on the boot screen, there are several potential solutions that can be tried at home before seeking professional help. Below are some common methods discussed in various forums and threads.
Check for Hardware Issues
One of the first steps is to check if there are any hardware issues, particularly with the hard drive or SSD. A failing storage device can cause the system to get stuck during boot [1:2],
[5:1]. If you suspect this might be the case, consider replacing the HDD/SSD and reinstalling the operating system.
Use the Novo Button
Lenovo laptops often come equipped with a Novo button, which can be used to access the recovery environment. From there, you can attempt a system recovery, perform a system restore, or uninstall recent updates [1:3],
[2:4]. This can be particularly useful if the issue arose after a problematic update or driver installation
[3:1].
Access BIOS and Adjust Settings
Entering the BIOS setup can provide insights into the boot process. Ensure that the boot order is set correctly, with the primary HDD/SSD as the first option [5:1]. In some cases, switching the BIOS mode to Legacy has been suggested, although it may not always resolve the issue
[3].
Attempt Automatic Repair or Safe Mode
If possible, try using a bootable Windows flash drive to access the "Repair Startup" option [1:4]. Additionally, repeatedly force restarting the laptop (around five times) can trigger the automatic repair process, which may allow you to boot into safe mode
[2:3].
Consider Professional Help or Warranty
If none of the above solutions work, it may be time to consult a professional service center, especially if the laptop is still under warranty [2:6],
[2:8]. They can provide a more detailed diagnosis and repair options.
By following these steps, you have a good chance of resolving the boot screen issue on your Lenovo laptop. However, if the problem persists, professional assistance may be necessary.
Usually when you start getting stuck at that screen it means your storage is dying. May be time for a new hdd/ssd.
use the novo button to reach windows recovery environment (novo menu> system recovery)
from there u can either reinstall the system, try sytem restore or try uninstalling recent updates etc..
It worked! What a sigh of relief. Thank you so much dude!
Hi! Ok will try!!! Thabks!!
Is this a known issue with Lenovo laptops or just laptops in general?
(My boss called it a bootloop, but I'm not smart enough to know if that is it)
Asking bacause I saw another post with the same issue this week & had it happen to me, too.
I've used Lenovo laptops since I got my first secondhand S10, but wondering if they are having quality control issues nowadays.
Can u enter bios? If u are using Windows try "repair start up" using bootable windows flashdisk.
this happened to me months ago, turns out my hard drive got physically broken (bad sectors), I just replaced it with an ssd and my laptop was back babyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Oh man I had this same problem about a year ago
No lenovo logo , nothing ..laptop is just stuck at black screen ....can't even enter bios .... Any suggestions how to fix this at home ...

Try connecting to an external monitor first. If it displays I have a solution, if it doesn't force restart 5 times while booting, around 6th time it will try to recover and boot into a safe node. Reply the outcome so I can help further
Nothing .. happens ..even Lenovo logo is now showing . Tried entering bios ..can't even enter that ..
The display driver issue has it a week before. Try entering the safe mode
It still happens after you force restart? Also try the novo button below the lap
Fixing this at home might not be the best idea. Go to a service center and ask for details. Then you can ask them for the estimated cost and tell them to not repair since you need permission to spend on it. Come back home, make a post with the issue they mentioned and if you are lucky, you'll get a solution. If not, go back and get it repaired.
Shut it down and sleep
I just opened it and it was stuck like this. I tried entering BIOS and setting the BIOS option to Legacy but that didnt work either, so i tried automatic repair and that didnt work either. Should i reset the system? I cant boot into windows.

UPDATE: Okay. Also, i forgot a critical detail; i was updating drivers with driver booster, and in the middle of the installation of some drivers the laptop restarted because of a stupid windows update. I accidentally pressed restart anyway, and the laptop starting updating. After updating, it said that windows is restarting, but i was getting anxious because it was taking 5+ mins to restart, so i just force shutdown the laptop. I was too scared to open it, because i thought i was absolutely fricked by interrupting a driver update. After a while, i opened it and it was like this. Before making all these dumb mistakes, the laptop was low on battery and i didnt charge it. It was at like 10% or something. Maybe after when i opened it, it was stuck on the lenovo screen because it was low on battery?
Yes reset it.

If the automatic repair works, do that.
That's one of the better cases.
Ami me pado lo mismo desde ayer como le insiste bro
Hello,
My mothers lenovo is stuck on a boot manager. I am unsure how to fix this/ I have tried removing the battery, running diagnostics, hard resetting etc... any chance this can be saved?
u/CCthesilly, can you get into BIOS? Yes/No
Yes, but after diagnostics it goes right back to the boot screen.
u/CCthesilly, that means something in your boot menu is causing the boot process to freeze.
Therefor, you need to narrow down what the cause of your BIOS not posting is, which in most cases, is the HDD/SSD.
Go back to BIOS and move the boot order of your HDD/SSD to be the very first option that the BIOS calls -> save the BIOS Settings, reboot and test.
If you are getting stuck, then there is an issue with your HDD/SSD -> replace it/clone it/install a new one + OS and retest.
Is this a newer Lenovo laptop? If so, was there a screen before this where you could go in BIOS setup and check if your boot drive is showing up there, if you haven’t already done so?
I tried opening bios but idk how, apparently you press fn and F2 in the legion screen
You probably don’t need to press fn as well as f2. As soon as you turn on the laptop, immediately press f2 and just keep pressing it. Bios should come up. Are any screens coming up before the one you posted, even for a few seconds?
Or press your Novo button if you have one.
Forgot to add: You’ll need something like a paperclip to click the novo button
I dont want to lose my data or my files inside the computer is there an option that starts my computer as usual?
U might already lost some files since i cant see anything in your boot.mgr, and there should be at least 3 options. Maybe your harddrive disconnected inside your machine, you should check it.
I will try

Hi, we are very sorry to hear about the black screen. You can perform a power drain. To power drain a Lenovo desktop, you need to unplug it from the power source, remove any connected peripherals, and then press and hold the power button for a minute to discharge any remaining static electricity. To access the BIOS, use this guide https://lnv.gy/3V3vze6. Once you can see the BIOS page, go to the information tab to check if the hard drive is detected or not. Once done, press F9 to load the default BIOS settings, then press F10 to save and exit the BIOS page. It will automatically restart the device. Check if the issue is resolved or not. We'll wait for your response. -Kate_Lenovo
You'll need to see if you can get into the BIOS. One of the function keys should get you in. Shut off the computer with the power button and as soon as you press the power button start pressing F1 or F12 really fast. You're probably not booting into Windows due to the BIOS changes (meaning it can't see the boot device). Could be a faulty storage device but hopefully not a corrupt BIOS.
Hi thanks for the reply. The computer will not go into bios settings no matter which button. The lenovo manual said to press F1 before starting comp and continue holding it but it will not move past the Lenovo splash screen. It doesn't matter which FN button is pressed during start up.
I did however find the CMOS reset jumper and tried that but still no luck moving past the splash screen
did you figured it out?
What I did was remove all ram modules except one and put the jumper on the cmos reset pins (2 and 4 for me) let it beep a couple times then put the pin back to where it was and held power till it powered off, then I powered it back on waited as it redid everything. Then it brought me to the america megatrends logo and from there I went to BIOS and reset the setting in there manually and so far no issues since.
I got a similar issue, no matter what it won’t load the bios, fortunately I have a rack full of these from an office that upgraded and gave their old mini desktops to me. (Here junk piles are fair game lol)

Lenovo y520t-25icz
I've been having issues for the past couple years with this desktop rebooting randomly during gameplay. At the beginning of the year I replaced the PSU and then last month added a second 8gb of ram.
Last night it rebooted while playing Two Point Hospital so I opened it up to remove the factory stick of 8gb ram that came with it incase that was the issue and gave it a few puffs of compressed air to clean out the dust. I also removed the bios battery to replace with a fresh one.
Now when I go to turn it on it just sits at the Lenovo splash screen. I cannot enter the bios using any of the function keys.
I've tried: Ctrl Alt delete at this screen will cause it to go black and then back to the Lenovo screen
Removing bios battery, waiting ten min and replacing (I looked through the manual and online and there doesn't seem to be a reset jumper)
Booting without bios battery
Replaced with original bios battery after battery testing and it was still good
Unplugging both hard drives to boot, and then booting with only one connected at a time
Disconnecting the Dvd drive
Trying both sticks of ram separately in each socket
Trying a stick of ram from another computer that works
Booting without ram (beeps)
Reconnecting all cables
Removing fan from processor and checking heatsink-- still wet, no dry spots
Removing the graphics card and booting without, but unfortunately I disabled the onboard graphics previously incase that was causing it to reboot so I have no display doing this and I can't get into bios to try to fix it
Honestly I have no idea what else to try. I really hope someone here can suggest something to get it running again. Thanks a ton for reading
I’ve had one of these before. Have you tried long pressing the power button?
From my personal experience this was heavily unreliable. Literally heavy too. Even in web browsing it struggles to give you a smooth experience. Mine was slowly dying and was laggy af. Before it fully died i bought myself a new Lenovo Ideapad 1 with AMD specs, basically a more modern version of that thing.
Anyways, i went a bit of topic there,
It could be a hard drive issue which i’ve seen is the case in a lot of these.
good news, the issue is solved by a repair on the OS, so if the mods could mark it as solved it would be good.
Do u have hd or ssd ?
i have HDD but planning on an upgrade
Bro,u must change it quickly , your laptop will be really so fast . .Anyway I think your problem is your Hdd . U should try to change it with another one with OS .if it ll start u know the issue otherwise could be many things
I got G780 for fix with the same error, tried everything.
After i stumbled upon this video from some guy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-fDvN0ZK6Q) and tried his fix it worked!
Just open ODD tray and it boots every time, lenovo will keep me suprising everytime.
well this is a late reply, but thanks
in the end a technician found out that my HDD gave up after 10 years, so i got a new SSD and a factory reset, and now its good
omg, that laptop is old. i had the G580 for 10 years until it refused to stop posting!
yeah it is noticable that its not brand new but when it works its pretty good for my needs
it was a very competent laptop indeed!
When I turn it on, it stays on this Lenovo screen in a loop, is there any way to fix this?
