Best Virtual Escape Room Games

Popular Options for Corporate Team Building

For large corporate team-building activities, virtual escape rooms can be an engaging way to bring teams together across different geographies. Some recommended options include Immersia's online point-and-click escape room, which is suitable for big events where teams can compete against each other [1:1]. Another suggestion is Deadlocked Escape Rooms, known for their wide range of games and experience in handling corporate events [1:3].

Unique and Thematic Experiences

If you're looking for unique themes, "The Super Secret Decoder" offers an exclusively online escape-room adventure hosted by a monster puppet, providing a quirky twist to the traditional escape room format [1:2]. Another thematic option is "The Vanished Truth," where players solve puzzles to escape a mysterious room, although it's currently only available on Android [2].

Free and DIY Options

For those interested in free or DIY experiences, there are user-created virtual escape rooms like the Halloween-themed escape room shared in one discussion. This game takes about 30 minutes to complete and provides a fun, albeit simple, escape room experience [3]. Such options can be great for casual play with friends or family.

Highly Rated and Reviewed Games

Deadlocked Escape Rooms received high praise for their play-at-home games, with many users recommending them for their quality and engaging puzzles [4:3]. Paruzal.com also offers games built specifically for online play, ensuring a seamless virtual experience [4:4].

Games for Couch Play and Parties

For couch play or party settings, "Hallows Hill" was highlighted as a fun escape room experience where one person can cast the game onto a television while others participate [5:1]. Additionally, "Escape Academy" on Xbox offers a quick yet enjoyable escape room experience, though it may be completed relatively quickly [5:3].

These options provide a variety of experiences, from corporate team-building exercises to casual home entertainment, catering to different preferences and group sizes.

Best Virtual Escape Rooms?

ORIGINAL POST

I am looking to do a corporate team building escape room across multiple geographies. There could be about 50-100 people doing them in different time zones. Doing them in chunks of small teams relative to their time zone is fine/preferred. What are some really good options for virtual escape rooms for something like this? Many of these people are in software support and are technical people, but may not have ever done an escape room- though some may have. I don't think any would have done a virtual escape room.

Hello! Shameless self-plug here, but I literally just created & launched The Super Secret Decoder 💎 - it's an exclusively online escape-room adventure, and best of all, it's hosted by a monster puppet.

Our first adventure is The Secret of the Pancetta Stone, where you're tasked with rescuing Heironymus Vex from the Mesomanayan tomb he's inexplicably got himself trapped in 🤔

As many people can play together at once using whatever you're most comfortable with - Zoom, Teams, Discord, AIM, ICQ - anything. And right now we're running a 'First 50' campaign, so the first 50 customers get 50% off with the coupon FIRST50. Type 'secret of the pancetta stone' into Alta Vista or go straight to The Super Secret Decoder 😊

>Mystery Mansion Regina

Intriguing. I wish there were some FAQ's. How long is the game? What is the refund policy if there is a problem? How do we contact support? Apparently the mobile app has it but Chrome and Brave do not show the pancake menu on the left.

1 upvotes on reddit

I'm not sure if you've replied to the right thread 🤔 You quote 'Mystery Mansion Regina' - We do have a Mystery Mansion, but no Regina lives there.

There are FAQs, both on each game (as we now have a new one - The Mystery Mansion Mini-Adventure!), and on the site as a whole. There's also a dedicated support page which answers most common problems and provides ways to contact us if you're still having issues.

In terms of length: The Secret of the Pancetta Stone typically takes around an hour to play, and the Mystery Mansion Mini Adventure takes around 45 minutes. However, there's no room time limit - once you enter your super-secret game code, you have a whole 24 hours to play.

Also, you mention Chrome & Brave not showing the pancake/hamburger menu, but it is in the 'mobile app' - there isn't a mobile app for Super Secret Decoder - it's all in-browser, and the hamburger menu works fine in Chrome. I don't have Brave, but it's Chromium-based, so I assume it's fine there too. All of which leads me to believe you may have replied to the wrong thread by accident 😬

I’m actually loving your site and the game master video but wondering how it works for groups … does every player need a code to play or is one code per team needed? The website makes it seem like you just need the one -

1 upvotes on reddit
sperazule · 3 years ago

Sorry for the late reply - I never got a notification 🧐 You only need a single code for however many people are playing together. So if it’s just two of you at home, or half a dozen family members all over the country, or 2 football teams playing across the globe, you can all play with a single code. No team limits or per-player fees!

Last I checked Fuzzy Logic had withdrawn their online games which is a real shame. But it would be worth contacting Deadlocked in Reading (who made Cyphstress amongst many others). They have a wide range and have done lots of corporate options (including for technical people) and depending on your budget might have something just right. I was lucky enough to playtest something they made for a company that sounds pretty similar to what you’re looking for with smaller teams doing chunks independently.

Owner of Mystery Mansion Regina here. We still offer a few online options. For the group size you have, I would definitely suggest a Point-and-Click game. If you would like to chat more, feel free to send me a message!

Some of my favorites (not sure if these are all still active):

  • Casino Mortale (Sky High Escape)
  • Superheroes/Villains (Fuzzy Logic)
  • Vet Office (Fuzzy Logic)
  • Real Kitchen Nightmare (ESScape Room Experience)
  • Steampunk Adventure (Lost Escape)
  • Agent November
  • Pretty much any of the rooms from Improbable Escapes or District 3 Escape

In immersia.ca, there is a online section with a point click escape room online. Perfect for big events. You can divide people in teams and play the game. First team to complete it wins. https://youtu.be/czMzKFikOlg this is a video if you want more detail

Virtual Escape Room (free)

Posted by beakerz1 · in r/escaperooms · 4 years ago

Hi all, I created a quick (~30min give or take 15min) escape room for a Halloween party at a youth-based group I volunteer at. Figured I’d throw it up here if anyone wanted to give it a go. Feedback very much appreciated, as this was the first one of these I’ve made and I’m learning how to make these better as I go.

so not gonna lie all the extra tabs needed has actually put me off after solving just the first code :/ hard to keep track of which tab you need at that time

1 upvotes on reddit
simplicitea · 4 years ago

I didn't really find this to be the case. The only tabs I kept open were any of the locks or codes you opened up. Anything other tabs can be closed since its easy to bring back up again if needed. So it's like maybe 4-5 tabs needed? It wasn't that excessive to me.

Thanks, this is actually good to know. I have a note in the page telling folks they can close them as they go, which was my way of trying to avoid that. I’m not sure if I can code them to open in the same window in google sites, but I’ll absolutely look into it!

I’m a big fan of the games at Paruzal.com They have four games and were the first on the scene after quarantine hit. Built from the ground up to be played online, not some “reimagining” of an existing room. They have an account here, but most reviews are on their Facebook page.

If you have an pc with steam/3ds and don't mind spending the average price of a video game, I'd recommend playing the Zero Escape series.

They kind of are and aren't an escape room at the same time. The games are visual novels mixed with escape rooms, so a majority of the game is reading and it's split up with a few escape rooms.

The series consists of three games: 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, Virtue's Last Reward, and Zero's Time Dilemma.

All games have a very intricate overarching story. The downsides are that these are one player games and the escape rooms themselves aren't the selling point... but if you're bored and want to do an escape room yourself, they're a lot of fun!

The first game(999) was released in a few different formats, it was originally a DS game but has a PC and iOS release. The second and third game are 3DS, PC, and PS Vita releases.

Timeout New York recently did an article on Fun Virtual Team-building activities.

I was organizing my own events for my team, but it was difficult getting past the awkwardness without structure. I started using CourseHorse and they've been going A LOT better. The hosts provided keep the conversation going, and the structure allows for more community-building and fun. I like that I can participate with the team instead of leading.

Our first event was Virtual Murder Mystery Team Escape, which was so much fun that people wanted to continue hanging out and talking about it after the game was over. They also enjoyed the CH cooking classes (we did Virtual Sushi Making Workshop and I'm planning to sign up for theVirtual White Elephant Team Gift Exchange Experience for our holiday party. Hope this helps! I can answer more questions about these if you want more input.

Types of virtual escape rooms

Posted by getlostincanada · in r/escaperooms · 5 years ago
post image

Hi there!

New to Reddit, so hello all.

Working at an escape room company that has gone virtual, we have found there is often a good deal of confusion on what to expect from a virtual room. To address this, we decided to create a handy little graphic to help explain the most common types of virtual rooms we get asked about. Feel free to give it a look, and let me know if we missed any. :)

A Simulated escape room is like an interactive radio drama. You and your team listen to the story unfold as you tell the narrator what you wish to do, and he/she tells you what you discover as you go. This experience is best for groups who enjoy laughing as much as they enjoy solving puzzles.

A Live-remote escape room is exactly that. You are the remote operator of a real person in an escape room. You watch them solve the mystery and instruct them where to look (Sherlock's Escapes does not currently offer this type of experience. We don't want to spoil the fun of doing our rooms in-person when we reopen. )

A Hybrid virtual escape room is a completely independent escape experience that we have developed. It features physical case files and puzzles, as well as an interactive website element. This type of escape does not feature a live room host, and can be completed as soon as it arrives in the mail.

I highly recommend hybrid over simulated and live remote. I’ve helped create/work for both and the live remote sold a few spots vs the simulated has made over 60k this past month alone.

1 upvotes on reddit
getlostincanada · OP · 5 years ago

That's interesting! Our Escape room sees most of it's sales going towards our simulated rooms, but we do see a good amount of hybrid sales as well. We don't have the equipment to do live-remote rooms, so I can't speak on their sales.

1 upvotes on reddit
jlab218 · 5 years ago

I take that back, I misread the host part. We do a hybrid part that includes a live host. I’m definitely interested in playing one of your games!

Best virtual escape rooms for 10 to 15 people?

Posted by celestialvx · in r/escaperooms · 3 years ago

Hi! My nonprofit agency has switched our services back to virtual for the time being and we want to offer an online escape room to our attendees at a first come first serve basis. We thought a virtual escape room would be a fun activity but need to be able to accommodate between 10 and 15 people. Any recommendations? We're willing to do two rounds of smaller groups if necessary, but would prefer having a single group if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Key Considerations for Virtual Escape Room Games

  1. Theme and Storyline: Look for games with engaging themes and storylines that interest you and your group. Popular themes include mystery, horror, adventure, and sci-fi.

  2. Difficulty Level: Choose a game that matches the skill level of your group. Some games are designed for beginners, while others are more challenging and require critical thinking and teamwork.

  3. Group Size: Check the recommended number of players for each game. Some escape rooms are designed for small groups (2-4 players), while others can accommodate larger teams (up to 10 or more).

  4. Platform and Technology: Ensure the game is hosted on a reliable platform that provides a smooth experience. Some games use video conferencing tools, while others have built-in interfaces for puzzles and clues.

  5. Interactivity: Look for games that offer interactive elements, such as live actors, immersive environments, or unique puzzles that require collaboration among players.

Recommendations:

  • The Escape Game: Offers a variety of virtual escape rooms with different themes and difficulty levels. They provide a live host to guide you through the experience, enhancing interactivity.

  • Enchambered: Known for their well-designed puzzles and engaging storylines, Enchambered offers both single-player and multiplayer options, making it flexible for different group sizes.

  • Puzzle Break: One of the pioneers in virtual escape rooms, Puzzle Break offers a range of experiences that can accommodate larger groups and provide a fun, team-building atmosphere.

These options are great for a fun and challenging experience, whether for a family game night, team-building activity, or a virtual gathering with friends!
