Employee Discounts
AT&T offers substantial discounts for its employees, which can be extended to family members. Employees receive 50% off their wireless bill and most accessories [1:5]. Additionally, home internet is available at a discounted rate of $10 per month, regardless of speed
[1:6]. However, these accounts must be managed through a corporate store rather than a retail outlet
[1:1].
AARP Membership Discount
For those with an AARP membership, AT&T provides a discount on family cellular plans. This includes a $10 monthly discount for up to ten months if you finance a phone [3:2]. The process to apply this discount should not require changing your current plan, despite what some customer service representatives might suggest
[3:1].
Military and Veteran Discounts
AT&T offers a military discount that provides 25% off wireless services [4:3]. To qualify, the account must first include mobile service before applying the discount to other services like Wi-Fi
[4:1]. For veterans, transferring the billing responsibility to the veteran's name can allow the application of this discount
[5:1]. Proof of veteran status is required, either in-store or online
[5:4].
Comparison with Other Providers
While AT&T may offer competitive discounts, it is generally more expensive than providers like T-Mobile, even with discounts applied [2:1]. Some users have found that switching from T-Mobile to AT&T resulted in higher costs, despite promotional offers
[2:4]. It’s important to verify any quotes received from salespeople, as they may not include taxes and fees
[2:11].
Considerations and Limitations
It's crucial to understand the limitations of these discounts. They often apply only to specific portions of the bill, such as the data portion, and may not cover device payments, insurance, or taxes [5:7]. Moreover, while the headline discount rates appear attractive, the actual savings may be less significant due to the way they are applied
[5:8]. Always check the fine print and compare total costs before making a decision.
I pay for YouTube TV, T-Mobile for my extended family of 8 and Xfinity for 2 homes. What kind of discounts do employees of ATT get in corporate roles? Any discounts for friends and family that are significant? Thanks!
If you go this route, you will have to go into a Corporate Store to add or make an changes, not a retail store. Let them know you are a current AT&T employee. You can add 1 person to your account for account access and a discount on accessories.
This isn’t true at all. I manage an authorized retailer and have core/corporate employees in doing upgrades all the time.
My BF is a legacy employee of AT&T. He was told his account had to be handled through a Corporate store, not through a Retail store. We do all our AT&T business at the nearest Corporate store to have less haste with employees that don’t know what they are doing.
Something worth noting;
If an employee goes to a store, only the manager is allowed to access the account. Regular reps aren’t allowed to access employee accounts.
Every time we’ve gone to a Corporate store, a manager never provided us service, it was always a regular employee. We’ve never been told that a manager was required for access to employee accounts.
Can I get 2 home Internet plans? For me and my parents? For Wireless bill, can I add all to 1 family plan and still get 50% off?
Just one internet at home but 2 cellular plans. Each plan can have 11 lines I believe. Home internet is 10$ a month no matter the speed. Yes up to 5 gig for 10$
I just got hired at a retail at&t corporate store as a sales rep. Question about waived phone down payments. Is it automatically waived or is there still down payments according to credit?
I have an interview next week how is the hiring process?
I've been a Sprint (and now T-Mobile) customer for decades (and Nextel even before that!). However, it's getting tough to ignore the significant price difference with At&T.
We currently have a family plan with 6 lines, Go5G Plus, with a military discount. For that, I'm paying monthly about $220 for the phone service, plus another $75 monthly for equipment (iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max). So, a total of about $300 per month.
Today, I was chatting with an AT&T salesman, who offered their PL plan, plus upgrading the phones to iPhone 16 Pro Max, for $130 per month for 36 months (and then about $180 per month afterwards).
I realize that ATT has some fewer services (worse international roaming, no airplane wifi, etc.), but it seems hard to ignore a greater than 50% discount.
Assuming (based on their published coverage map) that I can get the same coverage service from both companies, why shouldn't I switch??
It sounds like something is being left out. There's no way you're getting ATT with 6 lines for $130. The PL plan is the most expensive as well.
'm leaving out the devices trade in for a new one assuming that would net 0.
100% this. As an ATT&T employee I can tell you that it will cost $185 with a military discount and autopay and paperless billing for just the plan BEFORE Taxes+fees. Where was this salesman when you spoke with them? Costco, Wal-Mart, or Target?
Heh I just got approached at Costco and signed to switch before reading this my quote for 2 lines is 116 plus tax and fees with all discounts. I trade in one phone and they upgrade both. Discounts end after 36 months. I'm in healthcare 25% applies. I'm currently with t mobile as someone mentioned was sprint and nextel prior. How much shall I expect my bill. He told 1st bill is higher due to prorated as mentioned will lose all other perks. Need to try how's service in coverage area
Does 5 lines for $102 + tax on Unlimited Extra Plan Military BYOD sound right?
That's what it's showing me online.
I just switched and I am in ATT home base market and I like my speeds and service so far. I left because they are cheaper when it came to monthly bill, but only time will tell. I was with TMO for a long time, but the continuous gimmicks are overkill and slowly fading away. Netflix on us, cheapest plan and I was paying the difference, Apple TV meh watches maybe 1 movie on it. AAA for a year then you have to cancel and deal with that mess. Tmo Tuesdays nice little gimmick. All the features I loved have gone to the wayside so I left. If it is legit and they offering you a good deal go try it out. You can always come back. Oh let's not forget legacy customers just had a $5 increase so there is that.
Hey are you still happy with them? We signed up today at bj’s and will be paying $240 for the same stuff t mobile is charging at $345
I do. The only difference I have experienced is inside buildings. TMO definitely has better reception than ATT. My reason for switching was due to being able to update my device anytime. The Jump on Demand program became a joke and I always got the run around. ATT has similar and I've done my first device switch and it has been easy. No calling or chatting. I can do it all online. I'm a sucker for the latest and greatest and also love trying out different phones.
AT&T offered a trial on the secondary eSIM on my phone. I tried it out and found I couldn’t get a cell signal in my house or in most of the places I visit on a regular. I would recommend you try the service before you buy it to ensure it will work for you.
I had hoped to try this as well, but my iPhone is still being paid off and therefore locked by t-mobile.
That price they gave you makes no sense based on their plans on their website AND their plans do NOT include taxes and fees.
So does T-Mobile. They promise and say things to you as a new customer and you think they are the greatest thing since post toasties. Then you BOOM you get the bill. Nothing like what the salesperson pitched.
AT&T is more expensive in most scenarios to t-mobile. Even with a first responder discount you're not getting 6 lines for $130/month.
I have an AARP membership, I also have had an AT&T family plan for years. I just turned 65 years old. There seems to be a discount for AARP members, but the customer service agent said that the discount can't just be applied to an existing account, I need to re-enroll. It sounded like a plan downgrade. Has anyone else gone through this process?
Thanks!
one of the discounts with aarp is $10/m discount upto 10 months if you finance a phone.
Pretty sure that $10/m you're talking about is only port ins and is already over.
That's only for new lines
For a brief period the Mobley was allowed on U&MP instead of only the standalone plan.
It doesn't work with Unlimited Starter/Elite/Extra though.
If you really use Mobley, or the SIM card, you pretty much are stuck on U&MP. I think AARP discount will still waive activation fees on new lines with U&MP, but that's it.
If you want to keep the Mobley SIM on unlimited data, I wouldn't bother with it. There's nothing like that out there today for consumers on AT&T.
The Mobley, unlike Harman Spark, can be used outside the car with a 12V AC-to-DC OBD power adapter.
Unfortunately if we could go back in time, I would have suggested putting the Mobley on the standalone Mobley $20 plan - which you can't do anymore. Then it wouldn't be linked to U&MP.
The rep is wrong. You can add it to your account online or in store
Thanks for the response - I've gone through the process except the last part, and it looks like you are changing plans - you appear to be changing to something called AT&T Unlimited Elite plan
That's the only discount you get with AARP you get Elite for the price of Extra .
What plan are you on now?
I have five unlocked, paid-off lines with T-Mobile service. While the service is affordable, it’s not as reliable as AT&T was, when I had it years ago. Now, I’m trying to switch back to AT&T, but getting a military discount has been frustrating. I was initially interested in Wi-Fi, and a rep assured me I’d receive a 20% discount on the $60/month plan—just by calling a specific number. However, when I called, I was told I needed to sign up for mobile service first before qualifying for the Wi-Fi discount. On top of that, I’ve received conflicting pricing information from different AT&T representatives. At this point, I feel like I’m being sent in circles just to get the discount, and I’m not sure what to do next.
So heres my main concern, wifi. Just want a military discount on the wifi. I am also interested in switching to ATT Extra plan but it’s not the main concern.
AT&T does not offer a military discount on internet services
The second person you talked to is correct—to get the 20% discount, you need to have wireless set up first.
Sorry :(
That sucks. You think I can return the modem? It’s still in shipping. Then close my wifi account, and open a mobile account. Then open a wifi account again to get a discount? Or should I just look somewhere else…
Correct. Cancel internet, port in, then set up wi-fi. Only fiber and Internet air get the 20% discount though.
As it was said above, cancel the internet and return the modem, port in (military discount will give 25% off wireless) then do fiber and you'll get the 20% off on the internet. Best of both worlds
Sweet, thank you. A big game of jumping through hoops to get 20% off lol
Hi,
I added my parents and sister (4 lines all together) to my plan after my dad retired and it has been several years at this point. We were wondering if we could put the plan in his name and use his veteran status for a discount. I would continue to pay each month, but would rather use the extra money to help pay for other things. Any idea if this is feasible?
Thanks,
Jon
Not really the right place for this as this is just a subreddit but yeah if you call in or look on the AT&T website you can learn how to do a transfer of billing. Then you can have his vet discount applied, just need to provide proof either in a store or if you do it online they'll email and you have to upload proof I believe?
Great. Thanks. I’m visiting my dad now in rural Oklahoma and just wanted to triple check before I drive us to the AT&T store.
You might lose some TV discounts if you have them (since I don't think they're offering them anymore).
Be sure to check out plan pricing as some may be better deals.
Store rep will probably direct you to call or do it online. I know some don’t mind but many won’t do it.
You can visit att business discount page to see if you qualify before you go through a transfer of billing responsibility. There are several corporations, schools, government, military, etc. that partner with att to offer discounts. Use your work, school, or other association email address to see if you qualify.
The discounts don’t help as much as it appears. I have a 25% discount but they apply it only to a small portion Of the bill so 25% ends up being like 5%.
Also many companies qualify for discounts so see if any of your families other companies have better qualifications.
25% should be applied to your plan and line fees. Won’t apply to device payments, insurance, add ons or taxes. But it will apply to your service, if it isn’t then something is wrong on your account.
It only applies to the ‘data portion’ and not any line fees or ‘voice portion’. Something like that. I went through it years ago with them.
You can do it at att.com/tobr
To get the discount you just have to go to a store with his ID that states his a veteran or any other proof after you put all the numbers under his name and social.
I’m on an AT&T family plan with additional discounts applied I’d like to share out to reduce the price for others (Mods, I would be happy to verify discounts if needed)
US Only
6 Spots Available
What you get-
You choose which AT&T Wireless plan you’d like to be on (Premium PL, Extra EL, or Starter SL)
What you pay on the first of every month. (Note- Prices are cheaper than CircledIn and include taxes/fees.)
Premium PL- $45
Extra EL- $40
Starter SL- $35
You’ll also need a phone with ESIM or purchase a SIM card to activate.
Limitations-
Obviously no device EIP on the line, this is strictly BYOD.
No international travel (aside from Canada/Mexico as included in the plans. Premium PL includes 20 LA countries)
No purchases made charged to the account.
Any of the above would lead to line termination immediately.
Feel free to send a DM if interested! Looking for Redditors with a healthy account history and buying/selling karma is a plus.
Interested - is this allowed by AT&T?
Hey there! Yes, they do allow this. They’re getting a new customer and you’re just joining a family plan already active
Hey I am interested in the Premium PL, question can I transfer my number or I will be assigned a new number?
Hi all,
I went to 3 separate At&T stores including corporate ones and asked about activating lines to ATT (I'm at Verizon atm). They said for nurse/first responders the new policy is that the nurse (account owner) in question has to be a FirstNet Family/Friends account and the rest are ATT lines who enjoy the 25% off. It seems to be a recent change (August). Can anyone verify this is accurate in order to receive the 25% discount? Basically, there is no just nurse discount promo it's grouped under the FirstNet Family/Friends now.
I've looked through the website but can't find mention of it but also think it'd be weird for it to be a lie if 3 separate locations said similarily..
Sorry if this post comes off as paranoid, Sprint/Verizon have tried to upcharge me before so I'm trying to be cautious.
Thanks!
Hey OP depending on how many lines it is, having a line on FN may be cheaper.
Could you explain how so?
The firstnet line is 39.99 or 44.99. So depending on the number of lines it could be a little cheaper to have the first net line.
I haven’t seen any communication saying you have to have a firstnet line to get the nurse discount. Could be something they are doing in retail, since my department doesn’t have firstnet goals
Sure. How many lines are you working with? Do you need hotspot on your line and what plan does everybody else want (start, extra, premium)?
For instance, a FN with hotspot and a line on premium is $101.24 but if you did two on premium with FRAO it’s $112.5
You could decline FirstNet and still get the 25% but account would still have to be in your name. I’d recommend having yours on first net but that’s just me
I didn't have that option. They said if you want the nurse discount one line HAS to be the FirstNet. It's why I asked the question because I felt like that was untrue. I'm not trying to figure out how I can change it as I can't make changes until new phones ship since I'm a new account.
That’s just rep trying to hit their quota for FirstNet. Unfortunately, that’s the way it is. Idk many total lines you have but the pricing wouldn’t be that much different anyway and like I said FirstNet is better than consumer line. But as an employee, I hate hearing that they told you it HAD to be done that way. Let me guess, they told you HAD to get the free watch to?
That’s not true, nurses have their own 25% offer, doesn’t have to be Firstnet.
So is FirstNet bad ? Ads say get top priority and low price.
This is a brand new thing so that is accurate information. Your Firstnet line will count towards any multi-line discounts though. If you have 1 FN line it and 3 consumer lines, each line would be at the 4 line rate.
They lied to you.
FirstNet was crazy expensive for my wife’s “device”….an Apple Watch w/cellular. We quit it and moved to a regular plan. We have about 9 months left to pay on our iPhone12 Max Pro “credits”, and then will move back to a different carrier. I really do not like AT&T’s payment website/app.
I’m wanting to sign up for the 25% off teacher appreciation discount for our family’s plan. However, I’m the account owner but my mom is the teacher. My mom’s name shows up in our account under her phone number. Will that work the way we’re setup now or will she need to be the account owner? Currently we’re on Unlimited & More Premium so I would also need to switch to the Elite plan.
Hi. I read the policy word for word, and it says “teachers and their families.” You might not have to TOBR. I work in customer care and was really excited about this discount, teachers are better than me. Give it a shot without the TOBR. Normally, yes, it would be the account holder only, but this is a new thing, probably to reduce the amount of extra work required to get this discount. And it’s a good deal.
I was told by AT&T that I need to transfer my account to the teacher, even though they are already on the account for many years. It is not worth the hassle/risk of losing my grandfathered plan with discounts. AT&T as usual is impossible to deal with and could care less about its existing customers. I was transferred around a bunch of times and was forced to waste a lot of time. Every time I interact with AT&T every couple of years I wonder why I am still a customer. Their customer service is abysmal.
Internal doc for the discounts states families also qualify.
Could not agree naki32. After 15 years I am seriously considering T-Mobile. They have no sense of loyalty, so why should I?
The answer is no. The account would have to be in her name, and under her social to get the Teacher appreciation discount added
True but they can call and switch the account owner
If she has a work email just email the fan attachment link it will work that way.
100% this. Way easier. Ask for the business IRU validation.
Anyone know how long the approval process should take? I applied on Friday. Just wanting to know timeframe.
Just do a tobr into her name and then she can get it
I'm on ATT prepaid month to month, and I know I've seen ads for a decent discount if you prepay for it annually. How do I get it switched to that?
Anyone else have any luck or can verify you can switch from the ATT monthly prepaid plan to the yearly plan, without having to port out to a different carrier and back in?
Since you must be a new customer, you have to leave ATT first with your number, then port in using the online web page.
I'm in the middle of signing up for that account. I tried last week (after buying $300 worth of prepaid cards on sale), but my port failed due to ATT wanting an account number of at least 9 digits, the company I was porting from had 8 digit account numbers).
I'm going to try the order again today, but delay the port until after I get my SIM.
FYI as the poster above mentioned, you don’t need to port out anymore. I just did it by calling 611. Make sure you know your acct pin tho.
As of 2 minutes ago the web site still claims new line.
Occasionally, someone is lucky enough to get a rep that can/will override a requirement. I bet if I were to signup for a new monthly account, then tried in a month, it wouldn't work for me :)
Text the AT&T Prepaid Support SMS line (75421). Or call 611 and ask.
I just upgraded my phone after six years, and I’m worried I’m getting suckered into paying full price for a $700+ phone I don’t even like that much. I upgraded over the phone with a sales rep who gave me a promo on the iphone 14 for $10.99 a month, which seemed like an ok deal. They said they would send me an agreement via email… but, I never got that email and I have no other evidence that I purchased the phone at a promotional rate. When I check myatt, I get an error message when I try to view the retail installment agreement on my new phone. It also doesn’t reflect the promotional rate anywhere on the details screen. Instead it appears I have to pay the full price of the phone, which I am unable to do. Every rep I’ve spoken to gives me the same answer: they can’t send an agreement but they have “notes” in their system that will ensure I receive the promotion in 2-3 billing cycles. Some reps have been even worse, sneeringly encouraging me to either return the phone or cancel my service (I’ve been a customer for almost two decades) and go somewhere else.
What should I do? This isn’t this normal, is it? Has anyone else tried this promotion and can attest to a different experience? Why can’t they just send a contract to the customer like they used to? Two months/billing cycles is a lot of time when you’re trying to prove to a salesperson that you signed up for a special promotion you have no hard evidence of. Is it time to say goodbye to AT&T?
The discount is applied via 36 bill credits. The actual installment agreement will show the full retail price of the device.
As long as you're on one of the unlimited plans, you will get the promotional rate. The installment is full price over 36 months and you get a credit each month to offset the cost, making it $10.99 per month.
at this point, I don’t trust this company enough to take them on their word. I don’t think anyone should, especially if you look at any of the other posts on this subreddit
I'm telling you how the promotion works, with 100% certainty. People go out of their way to complain, like your post.
the promotion is listed on their website. https://www.att.com/buy/phones/
Why do people upgrade over the phone 🤣 go inside the retail store or else you come out confused .
never again!
No, it isn't normal to get a phone you don't like just because its on a ''deal''
AT&T family discounts

Multi-Line Discounts: AT&T offers discounts when you add multiple lines to your account. The more lines you add, the more you can save per line.

Bundling Services: If you bundle your mobile plan with other AT&T services (like internet or TV), you may receive further discounts.
Loyalty Programs: Existing customers may be eligible for loyalty discounts or rewards, so it's worth inquiring about any available programs.
Recommendation: To maximize savings, consider enrolling in an AT&T Unlimited family plan if you have multiple lines. Additionally, regularly check AT&T's website or contact customer service for the latest promotions and offers that could benefit your family plan.
