Switch Plans and Discounts
One straightforward way to reduce your Verizon bill is by switching to a different plan that offers better discounts. For example, changing from the "Do More" plan to the "Unlimited Plus" plan can provide a full autopay discount of $10 per line [1:1]. Additionally, contacting Verizon customer service to inquire about loyalty discounts or senior citizen benefits might yield unexpected savings
[1:1],
[3:4].
Consider MVNOs
Many users recommend switching to Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) like Visible or US Mobile, which use Verizon's network but offer significantly lower rates. For instance, Visible offers plans similar to Verizon's postpaid options at a fraction of the cost, with prices as low as $30 per month [3:1],
[3:2]. US Mobile also provides competitive pricing, allowing two lines for around $50 monthly
[1:7].
Leverage Loyalty Offers
Creating a port-out request can sometimes trigger loyalty discounts from Verizon. This strategy has worked for some customers who received immediate offers to reduce their bills after initiating a port request [2:1],
[2:5]. It's worth trying this approach if you're considering leaving Verizon, as it may prompt them to offer you better terms to retain your business.
Bundling Services
If you're already paying for streaming services like Netflix or Disney+, consider bundling these with your Verizon plan. Some users have saved money by combining these services through Verizon's perks discounts, which can be cheaper than paying for them separately [5:2],
[5:5]. However, be aware that these bundled services might include ads unless upgraded to premium versions
[5:7].
Pay Off Devices Early
Reducing device payments can also lower your monthly bill. Paying off your phone early will eliminate the monthly device payment charge, freeing up funds and reducing overall costs [3:5]. While this requires upfront payment, it can lead to significant savings over time.
By exploring these strategies, you can potentially reduce your Verizon bill and optimize your spending on mobile services.
I’ve been a Verizon customer since 2005.
Currently have two lines on 5G Do More plans. Total cost is circa $246 monthly
One phone will be paid off this month - the other in two more months.
My wife and I are both over 65 but Verizon doesn’t offer senior citizen discounts.
We have ATT fiber optic internet - would it make sense to get ATT wireless and bail on Verizon?
Verizon rep here- do more plans no longer receive full auto pay discount - switch both to “unlimited plus “ to get the full $10 discount per line . This eliminates also any surcharge they charge since you have an older plan. Also you can call Verizon and see if there’s any loyalty 55+ discount or any type of discount they can apply for you . You never know -wink wink .
I recommend you chat via online text with Verizon, so if they offer a deal, you have a paper trail to present to the State Attorney General when Verizon fails to allow the deal you were promised, and uses the excuse the rep wasn't allowed to offer what they offered.
Just call and ask company about a lower rate. If you can use reddit, you can use the Verizon app to get in and poke around your account and see what you have. Ask about the unlimited welcome plan and stop listening to these people about lower alternatives. You are senior citizens and do not need to be going through the fuss that all these people are asking you to go through. Stick with the major companies. It's all relative. ATT may offer you a home + mobile discount since you have fiber optic through them.
Us mobile. Verizon towers, ATT towers, T Mobile towers. I'm paying about $30/mo per unlimited line.
We switched from V to YSM a few months ago when V increased our bill just for having an old plan (shared 4GB between 2 lines). We have not regretted our decision. We now pay about the same annually as we did for 4 months on Verizon, except now we have unlimited data.
This. I've been on US Mobile for 4 years and was with other MVNOs prior. Not wasting money on cell phone plans is EASY if you follow two simple rules:
NEVER buy a phone from your carrier.
NEVER choose Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T as your carrier.
completely agree. I do not under why folks won’t try MVNOs. They run on the same towers as the big three. there is no difference if you know what mvno and plan to go with all it takes is a little research.
We have 3 of the new mid teir plans and Disney on our account with 2 phones on credits and pay $140 a month. Makes no sense how you are paying that much.
My thoughts exactly!! We have four lines and paying only $270 a month on the play more or whatever it’s called for iPhones and have Disney ad well. They’re being ripped off bad
If Verizon service works well For you, switch to US Mobile and choose Verizon (Warp) service. You can easily get two lines for $50 ttl a month depending on how much data you need.
Why not?! For the most part they aren’t the fastest like TMobile but they work ok 👍. If they’re over 65, it’s best to take advantage of convergence pricing with the bundle. All in one bill and AT&T will pay off that last phone.
I don’t know details on that. I know people talk about using their phones out of the country though.
I know quite a few people are aware of this but in case others are not, this did work for me. I've been a verizon customer for 14 years that's losing the $25 loyalty discount plus $5 iPad increase for a total of $30 + taxes increase in the bill. Not happy, so I started to look. I also did the Open Bank Savings to save $5/month which pretty much is cancelled out by the iPad line, so now it's $25 + taxes until I did a port request.
I almost pulled the trigger last night, did the port request and immediately received an email that I can save $10 per voice line. We have 2, so that would be $20/month savings for 12 months, effectively raising my bill only $5/month now...
So shoot your shot and see what you get..
Finally, I still may switch since I can save money with AT&T by a lot since we have AT&T internet or shoot on over to t-mobile because they are doing somethings over there.
It's definitely worth a try to see what the system might offer. My only concern now is that Verizon might clamp down on discounts, with this being the first step by removing non-dated ones first. Hopefully that is not the case, but we'll see. They just have so much debt, are losing quite a few customers, and need to keep cash flow elevated to pay debts and pay shareholders.
I did this last week because I was thinking about switching to AT&T and I got an email and text about getting a discount. I called a few days ago and they applied it to my account. I’m going to wait and see what happens on September 1st. There’s a rumor that Verizon may offer other kinds of loyalty rewards. We shall see if it’s true.
I just got off the phone with them. They said my $25 loyalty discount is not coming off and that email was a mistake to a lot of the longtime loyalty customers, so they are going to look into as why. He said that is a lifetime one as long as I maintain the requirement of 2-3 voice lines...so we'll see what happens if that's true or not. Also got the $10 off per line for a total of $20 per month for 12 months. This will be nice if it all comes to fruition or if there are better discounts starting 9/1. I'm satisfied for now. He also thanked me for calling in since most people won't call in about it and leave lol
No they know what it was about. Why would they offer me $20 off for one year just after I went to the page to port out my number? Instead of just going back to $25 with no 1 year stipulation? If they really stop removing the discount it will be because so many of us jumped ship since last Saturday.
They should announce that stuff while announcing they’re taking away discounts. Makes no sense. Customers could leave before they know what the rewards will be.
I spoke with a chat support agent to get my $20 loyalty put back on my account for 12 months. That will give my EIPs time to be paid off in full for promotion "free" phones. And then I will move all the lines to Visible plans so I can keep VZW coverage but lower my bill.
I called the loyalty department and they said that $25 email was sent in error and lots of people weren't supposed to get it..wth? lol Anyways, he said it was not coming off and they are giving me $10 for each voice line for a total of $20 off for 12 months in addition to my $25 loyalty discount. So, we'll see happen story to the $25 month but at least I got $20 to help offset if it does come off and if not, even better!! I have a year left to on our phones to get the full free promo even though AT&T and T-mobile have buyout offers. But I've been looking at Visible and US mobile as well but that would mean paying $400 total for both phone lines to make the move..
Yea I can guarantee VZW doesn’t ever “accidentally” remove discounts or increase fees. They probably meant the email wasn’t supposed to go out, as in we would hopefully just not notice our bill being higher since it’s most likely on auto draft. I can promise 100% they are in fact removing the loyalty discount and some of us will get $20 discount re-applied for 12 months but only those who call/chat support to complain. And even then it might depend on the agent/supervisor.
T-Mobile are doing the same things... in fact, they are changing grandfathered plans without permission.
while they are, I was more so referring to improving their network and a couple of plans don't require 3 years long commitments. Not that the commitment thing bothers me anyways since I don't like to switch and buy direct from Apple now but it's a nice option to have.
I buy all my phones unlocked and im loyal to no one. I just left Verizon because they kept lying to me. Even the executive staff lied to me. Im now using US Mobile and im staying there. I can easily switch between all the networks in minutes. And I have priority data on verizon.
Yes they changed plans but actually worked out massively better for me price didn't change but got bumped to go5g plus and now I actually get some trade in values I mean it's better than nothing and didn't have a price increase.
I bought my iPhone 13 Pro Max from Verizon in August of last year. I am moving out soon and realized that my phone bill is $114.54 — and want to lower my monthly payment.
$70.00 for 5G Start plan
$30.55 for device payment (9 of 36)
$7.25 for Wireless Phone Protection
$4.10 for Surcharges
$2.64 for Taxes and Government fees
I would like to keep the same phone despite it being discontinued. I was open to Unlimited Prepaid until I realized that Verizon does not have device protection for lost/stolen/damaged situations.
I really like the “Visible Plus” plan right now over at Visible by Verizon. I’m only paying $30 a month for the Plus plan, for the next year, because of a particular promo they had offered me back in January when I was first signing up with them (but normally it’s typically $45/month).
The Visible Plus plan is nearly identical to Verizon’s postpaid: Play More, and Do More plans. They all share & offer the same: Unlimited talk & text, Unlimited Data with 50GB of PREMIUM (Prioritized) LTE/5G Data; After which, in times of extreme network congestion your speeds may—temporarily, be reduced/deprioritized do to network prioritization. Fortunately, all three plans offer 5G (UW) Ultra Wideband access; Note that Data on 5G (UW) is always Unlimited Prioritized data (it does not count towards your monthly 50GB premium data allotment.
Both Verizon plans, and the Visible plans, each support hotspot. Verizon plans typically offer 25-50GB of super fast Premium hotspot data (then after will be reduced to 612Kbps). Visible offers Unlimited hotspot data with no actual data limit amount, but… Visible caps their Hotspot speed to just 5 Mbps—and you are limited to just One device at a given time (so if you have both and iPad and MacBook you want to use both simultaneously… well you can’t/wouldn’t be able to)
Additionally, both carriers offer Apple Watch Cellular support capability (though Visible offers it for a whole lot cheaper at only $5/month). Aside from the very obvious subscription perks you get with Verizon (like Disney Plus + Hulu and ESPN, etc.) the only other major difference I’m aware of between Visible Plus and the Verizon Play More/ Do More plans is the embedded streaming quality of each (The Verizon plans all stream video in 720P—but can go higher (I believe up to 4K but it has to be manually activated in the VZW account itself. Whereas Visible Plus only streams video in 480p (even while on 5G UW), although others have mentioned this can easily be bypassed from just using a VPN alone.
Very ironically; I just checked Visibles website and it appears that starting just today; New customers joining can get the Plus Plan for only $35/month with a guaranteed price lock—indefinitely—or rather until they ultimately decide to change the stated conditions (likely not anytime soon for at least the next year or two and/or perhaps even further into the FAR future; well… that’s my guess at least).
If I’m being honest though, I’m actually wishing I could have that deal instead of the one I currently have (since my $15 off/month deal only runs for 12 months and then my Plus Plan goes back to the standard $45 rate), but anyhow I’m still happy for all the new customers who can take advantage of the current yet awesome deal they’re offering (that doesn’t state any ‘Rate’ expiration date).

Call cs or come to a store and see if you have any loyalty discount offers. That’s really the only way it’ll be lowered other than paying off the phone early
Pay off your phone
Switch to Visible. Verizon refused to help me lower my bill at all and now I'm saving over $100/mo for the exact same service
Nothing Visible is "the exact same service"
Disagree. Speeds are identical and I can’t tell the difference. There is technically some additional deprioritization but other than that it’s identical
Where did OP say "exact same service"?
Buddy i can promise it is not “the exact same service
I was on tmobiles first responder plan. $85 plus taxes and fees. Less coverage overall. I did byod with tmobile. Ported over to Verizon. Did byod again. Now im paying $42.51 including all taxes and fees. I got a loyalty discount right away for $20 off for 12 months. Byod discount of $15 off for 3 years. And additional first responder discount. Never thought id see the day verizon was half off for the most expensive plan
Nice! I'm getting $100 of my bill of $203 for 3 lines so my bill is $103 after taxes and fees. Discounts: $25 loyalty, 3x $10 line loyalty for 12 months, 3x $15 per line BYOD. Then I have the Verizon Visa and earned $60 in Verizon dollars last month I used toward my bill. I paid $40 for this month's bill for 3 lines.
Of course the BYOD runs out in about 1 more year. The $10 per line is 12 months only but I've gotten that for two years in a row so far. I'm not sure what I'll do after BYOD ends. It depends.
Ive got the byod discount for the next 35 months. For one line, and you with your 3, these prices are hard to beat.
My BYOD was for 36 months. I've returned to Verizon about 23 months ago. Second month I got the $25 account offer (but I don't qualify for any teacher, first responder, etc., so this is the discount for us normies.). The $10 per line thing I've been doing both years from the start.
The BYOD was $15 per line for 36 month when we started up again. I had left Verizon for a while to T-Mobile and come back.
Are you using your own unlocked phone or Verizon’s?
Purchased from Apple unlocked for all 3 lines.
My own unlocked s25 ultra
So after everything is said and done. How many lines do you have with Verizon and what do you pay with taxes and fees. What's the bottom line?
I have just one line on unlimited ulimate. My estimated bill section on the app says next month and month after my bill will be $42.51 including taxes and fees. $100 for the plan- $10 a month for autopay. Another $20 loyalty discount for 12 months. Then another $15 a month discount for byod. Lastly a $10 a month discount for first responder. Its showing my forst responder discount is $20 off a month but i think its supposed to be $10 off. So my bill probably will be 52.51 instead of 42.51 with the current $20 off for first responder
Another "savings" is getting a new iPhone 16 for "free" by simply agreeing to stay with Verizon for another three years. I fell for it.
Either way that sounds like a steal. I'm happy with tmobile but I'd leave for that deal
I tried one of the promotions with Verizon. Service, call quality, and etc got me to leave. And also my “bill” was supposed to be cheaper like I was promised it was $225 for 4 lines now it’s $185 on Tmobile plus all the perks. I do miss Verizon sometimes but man never switching from t-mobile again.
Great stuff! I’ve been a Verizon customer for over a decade, never received a loyalty discount and was just denied one after review a month ago. Be vigilant
Despite all the hate for Verizon. Yes it cost more. (When I have service and my friends dont...ya pay for what ya get) Today I actually saved money.
We have 4 Lines
2 were on the old $49 unlimited plans with one having the Disney Bundle.
We switched the main line to the new $45 mid tier (it was the same offerings out side of Disney+) and added the Disney Bundle for $8.80 (perks discount) and added Netflix as well.
We were already paying for Netflix that was billing to a credit card for 24.37 (adding the apr it's more)..with the Verizon perks discount we are only paying $16
A second line we have was also on the $49 plan. Dropped that to the new $45 plan that has the same features.
All in all saving is around $16 a month and gained Max streaming service 🙂↕️
You'll probably drop the Netflix perk after you try watching a single show and have to sit through a commercial every 5 minutes (i.e. the Netflix/Max perk is Ad enabled). I signed up for the Max perk to binge a series and they show the same 2-3 ads EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I kept my Netflix premium. As a standalone we were paying 24.37. now under Verizon we pay $16, also it was billing to a credit card before vs pulling from a bank so dropped the interest = more savings.
So you can upgrade the perk to premium?
I tried doing exactly what you did. And verizon ended up charging me ten dollars for the perk, and then another sixteen dollars for premium. Instead of paying the twenty four and change, I ended up paying over twenty six.
You can remove ads for both though
It can make financial sense if you have 3+ lines and are paying for those services anyway.
It's bad on my part I didn't so it sooner. My next task at hand is dropping my father in law down the the $35 dollar line (he's on a $39 one but I think there are strings attached because we got his iPhone for free).
yea if you upgraded your father in laws phone don’t change the plan unless it’s equivalent to the current otherwise your promotion will auto correct and you may get less or nothing at all on that device if you change the plan
I actually find Verizon to be cheaper in the long run… the deals promos, Netflix & max, Hulu Apple one ad on I save $40/m just by that. $108 for all that plus phone payment and unlimited plan is way better deal than T-Mobile or AT&T. Plus Verizon’s the only one that works in the middle of no where
You should not be using your credit card if you're paying interest...
You are right. I do not admit to being the most financially responsible person.
I wish I would have done it sooner. Could have saved almost $155 since they released the Netflix bundle.
I went to cancel Verizon today to save money with another provider. I’ve been griping about my bill trying to find a solution for a year with no success.
Anyway, in order to do so you have to go to your Verizon app and search “transfer out pin”. Then you’ll be prompted to generate a pin. You may have to unlock your transfer numbers (it’ll tell you very plainly and it is very simple to do). Once you generate your pin. Wait. Verizon will email you and text you an offer for $20 off per line for a year.
You’re welcome.
That can be the autopay discount Vz costumer care rep here. Ask for the loyalty discounts you may have in the account as well.
Doesn't always work-- for example if you have a bunch of lines with a DPP and you are roped in for awhile then Verizon knows they've got you so no loyalty discount will generate
Worked for me. Had the loyalty discount expire a year after upgrading 3 of 4 lines and had DPPs on all of them (all receiving bill credits too) and got all 4 lines back on loyalty discounts after 2 billing cycles.
Calling customer service to ask if there are any available discounts and perks is also recommended because the discount was only showing up on 2 lines and I called and they showed the other 2 lines were eligible as well and applied the discounts.
Ya im not sure how the system determines which ones it will generate that loyalty offer--- but again its not something that you need to call to do, all you need to do is log into your myverizon and type transfer pin in the search bar and it will sometimes generate the code-- that is all we do if a certain line is missing a loyalty promo-- there is this big misconception that if you call in we can just make an offer appear-- not how it works. System makes the determination rep has zero say in it at all.
Yeah I made transfer pin and saw the same offer and tried clicking through the link just to see and it was acting like there was an error or something. I’m not sure if it would have eventually worked but seemed a bit shady to me for sure. Hopefully someone staying Verizon will be able to get it to work for them though.
Who said it was new? I was pissed about my bill. Verizon wouldn’t help at all. I got this after making the switch and wanted to pass it along to share the love to others, to hopefully help relieve others going through my situation.
I did as well but 4 lines is $40 bucks a month savings, paired with the $40 autopay and $20 employer discount, saving $100 a month.
I've done it the last 2 years successfully 10$ off per line.
Once you generate the PIN, go to “My Offers”. The option to redeem the $20 /mo discount will be there for each line.
That’s what happened to me when I tried clicking through just to test it before leaving Verizon haha. Admittedly, a better option might come from what I did later to place a call to confirm my phones were unlocked and they did try to have a conversation with me about “finding discounts to stay” so that other be worth calling in about.
Checking that your phones are unlocked for transfer is a pretty low stakes call to customer service since you don’t have to pretend you changed your mind about cancelling service or something if you don’t get the discount, so is probably worth a shot.
I saw that message but I realized I had clicked twice in the app. When I went to look at next month’s estimated bill I saw that the discount was applied.
I wanted to come back and thank the post!! Looks like I am getting $20 off per line in the upcoming bills!
Just made the switch from T-Mobile to Verizon and wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else decide.
I was on T-Mobile’s Freedom Unlimited plan, paying $130/month for 4 lines. I recently switched to Verizon’s Welcome Unlimited plan, now paying $100+taxes month for 4 lines, and paying to upgrade the few phones I got, $145.55/month total. 40$ off per month for auto pay and 20$/month for their promo.
That’s a $15 increase, but here’s what I’m getting with Verizon:
• 2 iPhone 16 Pro (128GB)
• 1 iPhone 16 Pro Max (256GB)
• 1 iPhone 16 Pro Max (512GB)
• All 4 $35 activation fees waived
• $200 account credit (to match the chat gift card offer.)
• Price locked for 3 years ( not including the fees.)
• First bill was actually a $13 credit (autopay hasn’t kicked in yet)
Both plans offer unlimited talk, text, and data. The Verizon plan doesn’t include hotspot access, but honestly, I never used the hotspot on T-Mobile, so it wasn’t a loss for me.
Talk coverage, Verizon has been better in the areas I actually use my phone. Primarily my drive to and from work, the only time I ever actually talk on the phone.
Text, no noticeable difference. ( like 90% of my use)
GPS and maps while driving feel the same. (Only use them for the Police warnings)
At work, data speeds are sometimes a bit slower, but not enough to really impact anything. (Pulling up Ring Doorbell as like 75% successful, now more like 50%)
For how I use my phones, the switch feels like a big upgrade, my typical talk dead zones with T-Mobile at no more! Better coverage (for me), four brand-new phones, no fees, and a price lock—all for just a small monthly increase. Pretty happy with the switch so far. I didn’t have time to go to a store. Tried chat, but it sucked. I called in and got a rep from Texas (like he was a Texan. Not sure where his call center was.) They took care of me! Red> Magenta
Just felt like doing an update since so many here helped me during the process!
That sounds great. I hope that you continue to have such a great experience with Verizon. $145 per month for four lines and 4 new phones, that is awesome. You may notice issues in populated areas because the welcome plan is de-prioritized data and the data is basic 5G and 4G LTE. It doesn't include 5G UW. But still that is a great plan.
Did you have to trade in any phones to get the new phones?
The deal was free iPhone 16 pro, no trade in. Then 1000$ for trade in on any phone. So I upgraded two to the Pro Max’s. That’s why I am paying 25$ extra a month. I traded in a iPhone X and 11pro max.
It’s a deal Verizon has for new customers switching to Verizon right now.
How did you get the activation fees waived????
I politely asked. I had read around and heard they can do it, but won’t offer it. I asked them to wave those and to match the $200 gift card promo the chat had offered me, since the chat kept freezing up. They placed me on hold and said they had to authorize it with their supervisor. It worked well because the autopay doesn’t always kick in the first month bill. But that won’t matter because my first bill is now 13$ credit….
I know there's a lot of anger hurled towards Verizon, but I've haven't had a major issue at all. The service even works in the employee bathroom when AT&T couldn't get a signal. I also get an employee discount for being on Verizon so that factors in as well.
I think I understood the limitations of signing up for the unlimited welcome. Some people sign up for the cheapest plan but don’t understand that they are forfeiting a few of the perks. My conclusion is they’re all essentially the same ruthless money, hungry corporations ready to fuck us all over as soon as they get the chance. With that is the reality, I am going to play their game as best I can to improve my position.
This is why when I left Verizon I switched my family to T-Mobile to use their buyout and since it doesn’t have a certain time period that I am required to stay if service gets worse or billing goes up I’ll be switch to a different carrier again. Paid off all our phones tho in this process, still had 2 years left on 3 of the phones to pay off
I switched too I am alot happier
if they ever offer you free lines they don’t credit taxes for those ones with t-mobile.
i’m spending exactly the same as tmobile but it works great in nyc where i need it in the train stations.
Just used the chat agent and they waived mine $105 🎉🎉🎉
We've had three lines with Verizon and have been loyal customers for over 20 years. Recently, our bill increased by $5/device per month simply because we’re on an "old plan"—something I learned during a chat with a Verizon representative today. I never got the "why" for the increase before he launched into the sales push.
I reached out to discuss the increase and explore ways to lower our bill, especially given our long-standing loyalty. The rep’s solution? Switching one of our lines from Play More Unlimited to Unlimited Plus to save… a whopping $4 per month. That’s their explanation for the price hike?
They then acknowledged our long tenure and offered to check for loyalty discounts. But instead of actual savings, here’s what they suggested:
That’s it. That’s what Verizon offered me when I specifically asked how to reduce my bill. After two decades of loyalty, this experience might just be the final straw. What an incredibly frustrating conversation.
Businesses are not loyal to people. People shouldn’t be loyal to businesses. They owe you nothing for loyalty. Use whatever carrier is the best for you, and don’t sweat the brand.
It seems like the best strategy for a customer is to switch networks every 3 years to take advantage of New Customer discounts.
I think there's a massive market for a carrier to come in and offer incentives to long-standing customers with good history.
For example, if you've been a customer for 10 years with an excellent payment history, then you become eligible for Plan Upgrades. Let's say there are 3 tiers, A-C, with A being the highest tier. You would be eligible to get Tier A for the price of Tier B. After 20 years, you get double upgrades. That would allow you to have Tier A at the price of C.
It's similar to working at the same place for years. You can stay there get small increases or leave and get better perks. We are currently looking at different providers and see which one will work based on our location (semi rural) where we work and where our families are. It create incentives for people to change and look around for a better deal.
it's amusing that every post like that starts with i've been a loyal customer for this and this years. it doesn't matter. if the system doesn't give the option to give you a discount the rep can't generate it out of thin air no matter how long you've been with the company. you want discount contact loyalty dept or president's office and negotiate with them not with 611 rep who probably got the job yesterday and reads off a script company provided.
Not to change the topic, but I love posts like this bc I’m like… This is Capitalism. This is the economic system so many American vehemently advocate for and want to protect; a system where private companies have to keep growing and making more money year over year. Everything that frustrates you about Verizon can be linked back to Capitalism - price hikes, bad customer service from overseas reps, lack of options to keep customers happy, lack of competition (cuz where you gonna go? You got two options: AT&T or TMobile. Any other company just uses one of the three big company’s towers and has worse service).
The number of MAGA/Trump 2024-hat-wearing folks who walk into my store and wanna rant about loyalty and price hikes is crazy. Like this is simply the economic system we live in. You want a fair, regulated telecommunications service? “Socialists” believe cell phone service & internet is such a necessity nowadays, it should be an affordable public utility. But nah, we don’t want socialism. Instead we protect capitalism at all costs despite the fact it is eating us alive.
I must've missed when the big carriers weren't going for more profit during the Biden and Obama presidencies.
How much is cell phone service in Canada?
I fully expect my price to go up. It’s a business.
My complaint was the benefits for “being a loyal member” was two halfassed attempts at an upsale instead of helping answer my question about my bill increase.
>two half assed attempts at an upsale instead of helping answer my question about bill increase
This is bc the rep you spoke with (any rep you speak with, ever) probably has no solid answer for your bill increase in most cases, and also is held to a sales goal. If a customer calls in, chats in, or goes into a store, only wanting to ask about their bill, that rep is still held to a sales goal with said customer.
Sometimes an increase has a cause like a service that was added unknowingly or accidentally, those are easy to fix. Other times, Verizon decides it’s time to increase rates. Then customers come in/call in asking why. The most corporate answer is “we raised prices to help cover increased operating costs & to ensure we can continue to provide excellent service,” but that feels really shit to say when you think how much money our CEO & other executives & shareholders make.
No matter the “why” your bill went up, the rep is still expected by management to sell you on devices, new lines, premium unlimited plans, protection for your phone and your home electronics, home internet if you qualify, perks like Disney & Hotspots, even the Verizon Visa credit card, amongst others… and if they fail to do their job, they are written up & subsequently fired. Doesn’t matter that their job should also include “helping customers” - the company sees that customer contact as a sales opportunity, and if a rep doesn’t try to sell they will be held accountable.
This is just the nature of the beast.
According to you they initially found a way for you to lower your bill. $4 was just not enough for you.
Yeah but it doesn’t change the fact that there’s still an oligopoly. Money funnels up to the Big 3 either way really, customers just get cheaper rates in exchange for de-prioritization on the towers.
I really like this comment!
If Verizon’s prices are too high for you, consider switching to another carrier. Don’t take it personally if they can’t lower your bill to what you think it should be—business is business.
I stick with Verizon because they offer the best coverage and meet all my mobility needs as my service provider.
If Google Fi is available in your area, give them a try—they’re affordable.
For those who may not know, you can ask Verizon if your account is eligible for any loyalty discounts even if they don’t show in your offers. I got someone on chat this morning and just asked them take a look at my account and they applied $10 discount to 3/4 of my wireless lines and a $15 discount on my home internet that will.
So just check even if you don’t see offers. Doesn’t hurt to ask and the worst thing that can happen is your bill stays the same. Good luck.
Thank you for this- I have started a chat and waiting in the que to speak to agent. Says my wait time is over 20 mins lol. But def worth it if it lowers my bill a little.
And to add to that in the my verizon app if you click on create a transfer pin for all your lines magically the next day or 2 youll wake up to a notification that youre eligible for a loyalty discount. Just did it about 3 weeks ago. Any dollar saved is a win in my book. Ill take 10 off per line any day.
Thank you !! I called and asked for a loyalty discount was told nope. I tried the chat a week later and nope. 3 days ago I did the create a transfer pin. Today I got a text offering $20 per line loyalty discount for 12 months but I had to call. After being placed on hold 3 times I was told just one $10 for 12 months. However while I was on hold the $20 per line showed up in my offers in the app. Checked and it’s applied my next bill will be $80 less.
That’s hilarious. Companies should be more proactive to award loyalty. We should not have to threaten or give the impression that we are considering leaving for them to give a discount they already know they can give. For example, automatically apply a $5 per line discount after 5 years, $10 after 10 years or another model. No need to call in or check. They just automatically apply it for being a loyal customer. Doing that is less expensive than acquiring new customers and giving them cheaper plans and phones to switch over.
No it's definitely better to onboard new customers and lock them in for 3 years than to try and retain a person that isn't held by any contract
Been waiting for one for months finally got it on both lines this week.
Added in app, was showing in next bill estimate within a few minutes.
Also as a person who works with Verizon make sure it's the loyalty number you call. They have a lot of numbers if anyone needs the loyalty number I can give it to you
Would you mind sending it to me in DM? I e tried through chat for a week and i haven’t gotten anywhere. Please and thank you! 🙏
Yeah sending it to you right now. They have so many numbers and they make you jump through hoops
Can I get the number too please? Thank you!
How much is your home internet now? Which package do you have?
Just to add, if you were to inquire and call CS, don't make their jobs a living hell if the resolution is to have said promotion be targeted for your account.
