Verizon Family Plan Features

Parental Controls and Safety Features

Verizon offers a range of parental control features through the Verizon Family app, which includes Restricted Usage Controls. These controls allow parents to manage web and app activity, set screen time restrictions, and block calls and texts from strangers [2:1]. This can be particularly useful for families with children who need supervision over their phone usage.

Plan Options and Customization

Verizon provides several family plan options, including the Play Unlimited Option, where each line has its own unlimited data allowance without sharing a pool until reaching a certain threshold [3:1]. The Unlimited Welcome plan is another option that may offer cost savings if hotspot features are not needed [4:3]. For those looking to compare plans, Verizon's website offers a side-by-side comparison feature to help customers understand pricing and features [4:1].

Billing and Payment Considerations

While it is possible for multiple people to contribute to the bill, using a credit card for payments can disqualify you from receiving autopay discounts. Instead, using a debit card or checking account is recommended to maintain these discounts [3:1][3:3]. It's important to note that whoever manages the account will be responsible for ensuring the bill is paid in full each month [3:2].

Adding Lines and Devices

Adding new lines or devices to a family plan is relatively straightforward. Existing Verizon customers can be added to a family plan, although they may not receive inflated trade-in value promotions [3:1]. For families considering adding a line for a child, options include a standalone watch line or an additional phone line, both at a reasonable monthly cost [1:2].

Cost-Saving Tips

For those looking to save money, reviewing current plans and comparing them with new offerings can be beneficial. Switching to a different plan that aligns better with your needs, such as moving from a grandfathered plan to a newer one, could potentially lower costs [4:1]. Additionally, opting out of unnecessary add-ons like Disney+ can also reduce expenses [1:3].

ORIGINAL POST

I know the post is long, I only provided more information for those that would be interested in helping me out :)

I have read through the pages some and there are many well versed here. I am hoping some will be willing to possible save me money ;) or let me know what I need and don't need.
I find the billing to be confusing.
We have two active phones, my phone which is an iphone and my husbands phone - a pixel. We have another iphone that I had gotten for my dad shortly before he suddenly passed away and I haven't had the emotional capacity to cancel it but I think I am at the point where I can make the adjustment. I had thought about keeping it for my daughter but I don't know that it is the best use of money so perhaps someone can chime in on that. She is a young tween/teen and has not had a phone or tablet of her own and I want to keep it that way as long as possible. However, now that there are some things she is participating in for sports, I would like for us to have some way to contact each other. Would keeping the phone and plan as is and only allowing her to use it when we give he to her be the best option? I have thought about getting her a watch instead. I am also looking in to Bark. She doesn't need all the belts an whistles in terms of usage as I would have it pretty locked down.
I have an apple watch and husband has a pixel watch. I not sure what the "Number Sharing" means. That part confuses me and I have a hard time knowing of the line items are correct.
We auto pay for the discount, and there is a military discount applied as well. I know there has been frustration to the admin fee they charge and then I saw recently they are raising their prices. Are we on the right plans? I don't know if we are using everything that are plan provides. I do have the Disney Bundle and Discovery. Is it cheaper to keep it bundled with Verizon vs paying for them on their own? I can cancel my dads line and automatically save $50 there but if we go the watch route for our daughter I don't know how much that will end up being.
I tried to remove our personal information but keep the description consistent so you can see what I am seeing. Any trips or clarification is greatly appreciated!

Your plans look fine, you need to keep them at a premium unlimited to keep your device promos. The numbershare is just allowing your watch to get your phone calls. If you don’t care about Disney you could switch the play more to the unlimited plus to save 5$ but that’s about it.

Thank you. I appreciate that insight!

What would you recommend for the extra line I have? My daughter is getting to an age where her having a way to communicate with me in certain circumstances would be nice, but she doesn’t need a full blown phone/plan. I’ve debated cancelling the line for that phone and just getting her watch but I don’t know if that works out to be better.

DryPolicy2976 · 1 year ago

You can do a stand alone watch line for the daughter for 10$ a month and she could use that in emergencies. The increase of adding a phone line on the unlimited welcome for her would be 10$ a month plus tax too. If you did bring your own device it would only be 5$ increase on the bill plus tax

Hi! We are happy to share that Verizon Family Plus provides you access to Restricted Usage Controls which include Web & App Activity and Screen Time Restrictions. Best of all, you can set all the controls directly from the Verizon Family app.

Family Plan Questions.

Posted by Legend1138 · in r/verizon · 5 years ago

I am fact finding to try and talk people into joining a family plan to save some money.

Looking at the Play Unlimited Option for 4-5 people.

  1. Assuming each line has unlimited data and it is not shared pool to the 22 gigs until data is slowed?

  2. Can we add existing Verizon customers to the plan? I am the only one would would port?

  3. Can everyone pay their share of the bill to Verizon? Assume this is a no.

  4. Can you have it auto draft a credit card to get the discount or does it have to be a debit card?

  5. Do members have to be in the same household or can we live where ever and maybe be friends not family.

  6. If I have a work discount can I apply that to the full bill?

Thanks.

I'll just say that I think you're asking for trouble gathering 4-5 friends/coworkers to pool into a cell phone plan.

Someone has to serve as the account manager and ultimately that person has all of the control and responsibility. The account must be paid in full each month, regardless of what verbal arrangements the group has. Cell plans don't typically have long term contracts anymore but if any equipment promos are applied, the promo is at risk to be lost if a line is closed. Only the account manager can authorize a line to be ported-out, which means he effectively controls everyones' phone numbers.

Maybe you'll get lucky and find an entire group that pays their portion monthly and never wants to leave. But the odds are against that.

That said, corporate discounts do not apply to unlimited plans. Autopay discount does not apply to credit card. You do not have to be members of same household to be on the same plan. If you're on an unlimited plan, the full speed data allowance applies to each line. Existing Verizon lines could be added but they would have to be released from their current account (could lose equipment promos in the process), and they wouldn't be eligible for any "new line" promotions offered by Verizon.

Multiple payments or even any payment outside of autopay doesn't disqualify you unless any of them are by CC. Then you get the non compliance penalty on the next bill. Also whoever is the account holder is liable if someone doesn't pay their share, not the secondary user.

  2. Yes they just don't get inflated trade in value promos
  3. Yes but disqualifies you all from the autopay discount ($40 goes to $50)
  4. It can but you don't get the $10 per line discount only debit card or checking account works.
  5. Doesn't matter
  6. Yes you can add it but doesn't apply to your unlimited plan unless it's a military, veteran or first responder discount

Plan comparison

Posted by Longjumping-Meat-334 · in r/verizon · 1 year ago

I'm grandfathered on an old plan (5G Start) with my phone, my wife's phone, and my Galaxy watch at a $10 add on. It's costing me 60 bucks per phone plus what I owe on her phone. Is there somewhere I can compare my current plan with the new plans they are offering? I want to be prepared in case they start jacking up the cost of my 5G Start plan. I'd love to get a side by side comparison with costs.

If you are on Start then I’d move to Unlimited Welcome if you don’t need any hotspot. Either way the new plan you could add 100GB of hotspot if needed later on down the line.

Go here: https://www.verizon.com/plans/unlimited/

scroll down to where it says "Check out pricing and plan features". When you click it you'll get a chart first showing the per line price from 1 line to 4. (Make a note that the "autopay" toggle is on so its taking $10 off the full price already.

Then scroll down some more and you'll see what each plan has as far as features.

If you go into the MyVerizon app tap "account" at the bottom, then tap "Plans," then tap one of your lines. You'll see a link for "Plan Features." Use the information that comes up here to compare to what the new Unlimited plans have.

Get family features on Fi at no extra cost

Posted by googlefi · in r/GoogleFi · 4 years ago

Hi all,

Starting this week, we’re adding new ways to help your family stay safer on their phones and build healthy digital habits. Family features come included with all Fi plans at no extra cost.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Block calls and texts from strangers by only allowing saved contacts to call and text your child on their Android phone.
  • Create a data budget to decide how much data your child can use before it’s slowed down. This not only helps your family develop healthy digital habits, but also makes it easier to manage how much you spend on data each month if you’re on the Fi Flexible plan.
  • Set up Family Link from the Fi app on your child’s Android phone to help them build healthy digital habits. You can set content filters, screen time limits, review apps before they’re downloaded, and even locate your child when they’re carrying their phone.

You can learn more about family features on the Fi website. For a limited time, when you join Fi or add a new member to your Fi plan you can get a free Moto G phone after $100 off and up to $199 in Fi credit (taxes and fees not included, Moto G Power and Moto G Stylus terms apply).

Questions? Check out our FAQ page , or let us know here.

Thanks,

Diane, Google Fi Community Manager

Searching for Verizon MVNO family plan (4): Mexico roaming, Korea calling

Posted by unibrawler · in r/NoContract · 6 months ago

TLDR is in the title, but I've seen some fantastic analysis here and am in paralysis-by-analysis looking at the options. I'm constrained to Verizon MVNO because they are the only ones with a tower near my tiny town (no AT&T or T-Mobile here). I swapped to xfinity once and after a year had to dump them because the customer service was appalling and every time I went to Mexico the roaming feature in my plan would stop working and I'd get enormous bills for hundreds of dollars which on average would require a week, 4 calls, and 4-6 hours on the phone to resolve.

Facts:

- 4 people in the family, all adults as of May 2025. One near Seattle and the rest in small-town Idaho.

- I don't really care about streaming speed, but I understand VPNs. Only 1 of us uses hotspot, and only occasionally.

- I travel in Mexico several times a year for 2 weeks at a time.

- My wife must be able to call Korean cell and landlines ($10 "Global Choice" surcharge with Verizon)

- Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S9 G960U (me, LOL), Galaxy A426U

- Plan is three 5G Do More; one on 5G Play more. Last bill was $188 after a discount and three phones getting $14/mo credit for BYOD, as well as $5 each for the auto-pay. If I'm doing the math right, in another year the monthly BYOD credit expires and we add another $42 per month!! That'll be around $230/mo!

How often /long does she call Korea? GV voice could be a better choice. Also, she can use Kakao Talk/Line/Telegram/WhatsApp to conduct voice calls unless the person in Korea is super old school and does not have smart phone. Also GV Korea rate is 1 cent/min, or 2 cents/min to mobile and land , respectively. Apps calls are free.

You nailed it. She uses Kakao Talk with most of the rest of the family and friends, but Mom is super old school. LOL, her mom might be the last Korean without a phone surgically implanted, which is honestly kind of awesome.

Hello there, Yes I use the service. It’s great and they have great support. You’ll be very happy. They can’t get rid of charges that would normally happen but she will get that reduced monthly rate and if there’s any kind of a perk attached to your line they can enable it for you, so for instance, if you got to get more plan, you can get Apple Music. The success managers are great

I used Circled In for Verizon for a year last year. Basically it gets you as an individual onto a multi-line "family" plan. So your paying the lowest possible multi-line rate, the taxes & fees, and the Circled In $8 fee. And possibly getting some of those perks, but I didn't have the ability to get them when I used it.

I stopped because Verizon was increasing prices through fees, and Circled In raised their fee from $5 to $8. I think the bill was just over $50 per month when I left. I'm pretty cheap, I changed to the $300 up front for the whole year AT&T prepaid plan.

There is also just dropping to the best Verizon Prepaid plan that keeps the priority data. I think that's $60?

Also Visible Plus that now has priority data, and int'l roaming in Canada and Mexico for $45.

Adding lines to Family plan that uses 5G Play More

Posted by ACletus · in r/verizon · 1 year ago

Siblings/Spouses share family plan and we currently use the 5G play more plan for 6 lines. Kids are getting older and the "cell phone" blockade has been broken so we will need 8 more lines.

I realize I'll have to open a 2nd account since we will be over the limit of 10, unless I'm wrong about that. I'm trying to get it so all 14 lines are using the same plan, and in turn, all family members have the same cost & perks but it doesn't seem like that will be an option.

By adding the new lines to the Family Plan, Verizon will not allow them to use the 5G play more plan, will it? If not, do the 5G Play More lines count towards discounts on the Welcome & Plus plans?

Also, the Welcome & Plus plans are not set prices, correct? Meaning the monthly price can change after a locked in period of 2 years?

Thanks in advance for any insight and help navigating this!

The limit of 10 is no longer there, I want to say it's something like 15, I honestly don't remember, but it never seems to be an issue these days. Yes, the plans are mix and match, so they all count towards the other credits, so each Welcome would be $27, Plus at $42, and Ultimate at $52

Should My Family Switch From the New Verizon Unlimited Plan

Posted by tifoco · in r/verizon · 4 years ago

My family and I are currently on the New Verizon Unlimited Plan, paying $200 / month for 5 lines (with autopay set up).

$100 account access + (5 x $20 line access) = $200

My Verizon app recommends we switch to individual plans on the same account, which I am skeptical of - why would they want us to switch if it wasn’t a better deal for them if we did?

I’m looking at these new plans and it actually looks like a good deal. If we all switched to Play More plans, we’d get access to 5G UWB, Disney+/ Hulu / ESPN+, and 50GB of prioritized data per line (up from our current 24GB shared between the 5 lines).

5 x $40 line access = $200

So we’d be paying the exact same for more features. What’s the catch? What am I missing?

You think Verizon algorithm is set to "fuck over the customer" mode?

I don’t think businesses are generally in the habit of encouraging customers to give them less money.

Then switch carriers if your that paranoid. I'm paying $100 less now for 4 liens on Start Unlimited then I was paying for 4 lines on More Everything 10 GB shared 8 years ago

You're not missing anything, the prices went up after The New Verizon Plan Unlimited, but have since come back down. For 5 lines or fewer, you're better off with the new plans.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I can’t imagine we’d add a line, so this seems like a good move.

Especially if we can put can put Grandma on the Start Unlimited, that’ll save us $10 / month. She doesn’t need priority data, 5g UWB, or hotspot capabilities.

I think that sounds like a very smart plan. Happy to help.

Switching from Family Plan to Singular, No Idea Which Plan to Start With

Posted by bittersugarcubes · in r/verizon · 2 years ago

Title; I am switching to a singular line for myself on a refurbished unlocked Android device (already paid for in full), and would appreciate any insight regarding current Verizon Plan offerings?

You have pretty much two options $80 for Unlimited Plus or $65 for Welcome Unlimited. They are very different in terms of what they can access on the network.

But I think it's a bit a bit crazy to get a single line on Verizon for $65/$80 (multiple lines make a little more sense.) As this person discovered, Visible Plus is $40 and Visible is $25. Visible Plus is similar to Verizon Unlimited Plus. Visible is similar to Verizon Welcome Unlimited.

If you want to keep your number, it's the $80 and $65, although if you are military/vet, a teacher, first responder, or nurse you get $10 off. If you get a new phone number you would get $5 off the $65 plan and $10 off the $80 plan, those discounts stack, so a teacher with a new number you would pay $60 or $50. If you own a business, are a 1099 contractor, have your own side hustle, etc. you can get a business plan, and there is an older plan that can still be added for $35/mo that is pretty equal to the $65 plan

Verizon family plan features

Key Features of Verizon Family Plans:

  1. Shared Data: Family plans allow multiple lines to share a single data pool, which can be more cost-effective than individual plans. You can choose between unlimited data or a set amount of shared data.

  2. Multiple Lines: You can add multiple lines (usually up to 10) under one account, which can significantly reduce the cost per line.

  3. Discounts: Verizon often provides discounts for additional lines. The more lines you add, the lower the cost per line typically becomes.

  4. Family Safety Features: Verizon offers features like Family Locator, which helps you keep track of family members' locations, and parental controls to manage content access.

  5. Device Options: Family plans often come with options for device upgrades, allowing you to choose from a wide range of smartphones and tablets.

  6. Unlimited Talk and Text: Most family plans include unlimited talk and text within the U.S., which is essential for family communication.

  7. International Features: Some plans offer international calling and texting options, as well as data usage in select countries.

  8. Verizon Up Rewards: Family plan members can participate in the Verizon Up rewards program, earning points for discounts on devices, accessories, and experiences.

Recommendation: If your family uses a lot of data, consider the Verizon Unlimited plan, which provides unlimited data for all lines. For families with lighter data usage, the Shared Data plan may be more economical. Always compare the total cost based on your family's specific needs and usage patterns to find the best fit.
