TL;DR The best times to buy a MacBook are typically during Back-to-School sales (July/August) and Black Friday/Cyber Monday. These periods often offer significant discounts from major retailers like Best Buy and Amazon.
Back-to-School Sales
One of the most recommended times to purchase a MacBook is during the Back-to-School season, which typically occurs in July and August. During this time, Apple may not offer direct discounts but often includes promotions such as gift cards with purchases [4:1]. Retailers like Best Buy and Amazon usually provide more substantial price drops during this period
[4:3].
Black Friday and Cyber Monday
Another prime opportunity for purchasing a MacBook at a discount is during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These events are known for offering some of the year's deepest discounts across various retailers [4:1],
[5:3]. For example, B&H has been noted to offer significant discounts on MacBooks during these sales
[3].
Retailer-Specific Deals
Different retailers have their own unique deals and offers. Costco, for instance, often sells MacBooks at competitive prices and includes a two-year warranty, which can be an added benefit [5:5],
[3:1]. Additionally, open box items from Best Buy or refurbished models directly from Apple can also provide savings while ensuring quality
[5:1],
[5:2].
Considerations for Buying Online vs. In-Store
While online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart offer convenience and sometimes better pricing, there are concerns about product issues such as screen quality and hinge problems when buying online [2:3]. Some users prefer purchasing from physical stores despite potentially higher costs to ensure product quality and easier returns
[2:7].
In conclusion, timing your purchase around major sales events and considering retailer-specific benefits can lead to significant savings when buying a MacBook.
Looking to buy the 320 Honolulu B set but want to make sure I'm not overpaying. (USA)
I'm sure there are several factors to consider, so generally speaking, is there a particular deal or percentage off to watch for?
Prime day on Amazon is coming up in October. Last time they had amazing discounts on Ohuhu.
I'm so nervous to buy from Amazon. What if there is 10 bad markers that need replacing? Instead of replacing those individual markers, they require that I return it for a refund, only to lose out on the black Friday deal?
Something like this has happened to me before on Amazon
Ohuhu is very good at replacing bad markers. Even if they didn't individual replacement markers or refills would be less than the amount you saved. I also doubt that you would get even a few bad markers. I got mine used and all were still good.
Ohuhu is great at sending replacement markers. I had one dry one and they sent me a replacement with no hassle. I brought my 320 set during the black Friday sale last year. And now working on collecting the full 538 color range.
Every time I've had problems with markers on amazon, they sent me a second set for free to make up for it and never asked for the old one back. So between the two sets I'm able to make a whole set, plus have doubles of the rest.
During Black friday last year, they had 25% off on all products on their official site which was an amazing deal. They will probably have something similar this year.
I was thinking exactly the same. Currently looking for the 320 (brush and chisel) set ...cheapest I found was 220 euro (261dollar) in Belgium or 225 euro on Amazon.
Could there possibly be an I bood deal? Or black Friday?
I eventually bought them yesterday on ohuhu's website for 197 euro. There was a small discount. I waited 2 weeks. That's long enough 😁
Also curious
Depends on how long you're willing to wait, if you can wait a year, next year ohuhu will have a 10 year anniversary, im certain there will be some incredible deals. Probably the best they ever offered.
We based our predictions on Apple’s official pricing versus real-world discounts, starting with today’s Amazon rate of ₹84,000 for the 13-inch M4 model. By examining past festival and holiday sales Amazon Great Indian Festival, Diwali, year-end and Republic Day we identified typical discount ranges of 20–27 percent.
Next, we layered in additional bank and credit-card offers that often stack on top of sale prices, shaving off another ₹5,000–₹10,000.
Finally, we considered how the launch of the next generation (M5) tends to trigger clearance pricing on the M4, pushing discounts slightly deeper.
Combining these elements over time gives you a clear timeline of when prices dip most, so you can decide whether to grab the current ₹84k deal or wait two weeks for a potential ₹75k price at the Great Indian Festival.
the sbi card offer has validity only till 21st sep as part of the early bird deals. will it be extended after that? also is the price sure to come down in the sale since it shows sale price live on amazon currently.
By concern is , when we buy MacBook on Flipkart or Amazon they have some issue like poor screen quality, hinge problems, panel cracking and this problems don’t come when we buy offline store like unicorn or reliance , really want to know what is issue . Plz 🙏 if anyone know the truth plz share.
I have seen people have put reviews on it. But I don’t trust to buy such expensive stuff from online stores. Better to buy from offline store if somewhat extra you have to pay as well.
I don't understand why are people buying the 256GB one.
Its literally peanuts of storage for a device such as a laptop which is supposed to be used atleast 3-4 years.
And also non-upgradable.
Yes as per predictions
upvote if you liked it haha : )
can you do for macbook pro m4 pro, price analysis Thanks in advance;)
Sure I will do it soon
B&H is selling discounted MacBook Pros today for as much as $450 off. The prices are the best I've ever seen for new ones. I am not affiliated with B&H in any way, I'm just shopping for a MacBook Pro for a friend, and found these awesome deals.
Do not buy from b and h. I buy lots from them as a new Yorker but they won't take laptops back during the return window if you unseal the box. Microcenter etc have comparable deals and much better return policies for customers.
Under what circumstance would you want to return a MacBook Pro?
Comparing specs for use cases. I was debating between models and needed to test my workloads side by side. Bought both and needed to return one. Bh photo I would have been screwed. Microcenter same discount and I had 14 days to test and compare.
Labor Day sale at Costco and Best Buy for MacBook Pro m4pro chip 24 unified with 512 ssd was $1699
$300 more than B&H’s price. Did Costco include AppleCare+?
No on apple care, but Costco includes 90 day return policy and an extra year of warranty.
No new MacBooks announced by Apple today, it is an iPhone event.
I literally just bought the M4 pro chip with 512gb for $1959. Trying to decide if losing my 12 months, 0% financing is worth it.
lol i just got a open box excellent one at best buy for 1700. m4 pro 512
You really think the new MacBook pro will be released this year? I thought it'd be 2026.
Is this an indication that Apple will release an M5 MacBook this year?
The M2 MacBook Pros released in January 2023, the M3 ones released in November of 2023. Same year.
Is there a specific time of year for deals around MacBook airs? Looking to purchase a new one from a retailer (Apple, Best Buy, etc) and was curious to know if it’s best to wait until back to school, Black Friday, Christmas, etc etc?
Now, before the new semester begins I got a macbook Air 2 days ago for €860 on amazon for the m4 version and that's a price you will never see in germany
13” or 15”?
13"
The 15" version is like €400 more expensive lol
Summer. Back to School specials are the strongest.
Usually the best deals line up with back-to-school (July/August) and then again on Black Friday. Apple itself doesn’t do big discounts, but they’ll often throw in gift cards during back-to-school promos.
Best Buy, Amazon, etc. tend to do bigger price drops though, especially around Black Friday. If you’re not in a rush, waiting for one of those windows usually pays off.
Looking in the next couple months to buy a brand new MacBook.
Based off people’s experience is there a better place to buy? Apple Store? Best Buy? Somewhere else?
Thanks!
Openbox is Bestbuy returns and demos. I’ve bought a few Apple things from here.
If you’re waiting a couple months, wait until Black Friday / Cyber Monday and you can shop by best deal
Bestbuy warehouse on 200th
Costco sells them about as cheap as you can get them, even on their regular prices are better than most.
And 2 year warranty
Have you ever considered Apple's refurbished line?
These products end up being brand new and go through more stringent QA tests as opposed to coming off fresh from the factory line because they need to be cleared as worthy for resale.
hey guys just wondering when and where the is the best to buy a macbook for the best price like how much cheaper do they get during certain times of the year through different companies in australia
I would like to know this in United States
I'm looking to buy a MacBook before school starts and want to know if there are better deals available than Apple's Back to School promotion or the $850 offers on websites like Amazon.
Some US states have sales tax holidays in August, so that could possibly add a few percent more in savings. Stores are usually putting on sales during these tax holidays. There might be a limit (something like $2000) on the price that is exempted from sales tax.
Base model is $800 right now on Amazon fyi
$850 is the sale price.
Would have loved to pay that price. Sincerely, a Canadian
If you're in the US check Best Buy - I got my base 13 MBA for $850 plus tax

Need to buy this for work, but can wait for best deal. I heard back to school offer is the best one, but not sure.
If anyone have some idea, please tell.
Also, what would be the expected discount and benefits in that offer.
Thanks.
I am also waiting for the back to school offer, not in a hurry to buy one so can wait for all the offers to pull the trigger when optimum.
What will be the offer and savings? Any idea!
Retail outlets like Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital have a strong competition and high sales target you can easily bargain back and forth to get it at as low as ₹75k with CC. I don’t actually need airpods with my macbook so I am looking for the best cash discount on the product, no freebie needed just flat cash discount.
upcoming great indian fest or at big billion sale
There is a limited time offer on Amazon on MacBook air M4 512gb storage now it's price is 1.06lack should I buy now or should I wait for Amazon diwali offer??
Can I expect an offer on Ipad during Back to school sale ??
Yup, u get the usual 5000 student discount And free pencil during this offer
Usual 10% student discount , Additional free Airpod ANC
When does the back to school offers start? (Apologies for my ignorance)
May be it will start next week
i’m planning on buying a macbook for when i go off to college, when is the best time to get one with discounts and everything like that? i’ve never had one before
edit: i have used them before in school, just never owned one of my own, also i’m going to uni in like late august-early september
OP you never actually said when you’re going to college. That would be helpful. Secondly there is no perfect time to buy a computer. If you’ve never use a Mac in the first place you should buy one get to understand it and use it. Make sure the courses that you’re taking will provide Mac software. Just like a person who never used the windows machine. There’s no perfect time to buy one for school if they don’t know how to use it in the first place. 3rd party seller deals come throughout the year and Apple’s education discount applies year round.
oops sorry forgot!! i go in for the fall (around late august - early september) i’ve used macs in my media class (im gonna major in film) ive just never owned one for myself
Buy laptop from Costco in September. Return within 90 days for a full refund. Get another one to keep during Black Friday.
This is the way.
While I really like Macs and have been using them for a quarter century, if you've never used one you should really take a strong look at why you want one. You should look at what course work you will encounter and whether the apps that are needed are even ported for Mac. You may turn out to be expensively disappointed with a Mac.
i’m gonna major in film studies and i’ve used mac’s in school for my media class :)
Good to hear that you know what you're getting into.
Apple education pricing is uniform all the time. For Macs that’s usually a $100 discount
At other stores the deals can be the same or better at any given time. Just shop around for the model and config you want
best time to buy a MacBook
Key Considerations for Timing Your MacBook Purchase:
Apple's Release Cycle: Apple typically announces new MacBook models in the fall (September/October) and sometimes in the spring (March/April). Buying just after a new release can mean you get the latest features.
Back-to-School Season: Late summer (July to September) often sees promotions aimed at students, including discounts and bundles. This is a great time to buy if you're a student or educator.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday: Late November offers significant discounts on electronics, including MacBooks. Keep an eye out for deals during this time.
Holiday Sales: December often features holiday sales where retailers may offer discounts on MacBooks, especially on older models.
Refurbished Models: Consider purchasing certified refurbished models directly from Apple. These often come with a warranty and can save you money while still providing a like-new experience.
Recommendation: If you can wait, aim to purchase during the back-to-school season or around major sales events like Black Friday. This way, you can take advantage of discounts and promotions. If you need a MacBook urgently, consider checking for refurbished options or current models that may be discounted as new releases approach.
