TL;DR Apple offers student discounts year-round and special promotions during the back-to-school season. These promotions often include free accessories or gift cards with purchases.
Year-Round Student Discounts
Apple provides a consistent discount of approximately 10% for students throughout the year. This can be accessed via Apple's "For Education" section on their website [1:2],
[5:1]. The discounted pricing applies to various products, including MacBooks, iPads, and iMacs
[2:1].
Back-to-School Promotions
During the back-to-school season, Apple typically enhances its student offerings with additional promotions. In recent years, these have included free AirPods with certain purchases [2:1],
[3:1]. However, the current promotion involves receiving a $150 Apple Store gift card instead of AirPods
[5:2]. The back-to-school promotions usually run until late September
[3:3],
[5:2].
Additional Offers and Conditions
Alongside the gift card, Apple offers a 20% discount on AppleCare when purchased simultaneously with a new device [5:2]. The gift card can be used for any Apple product or service, including in-store purchases and online transactions
[5:5]. It's worth noting that the availability of specific promotions may vary by region
[4:4].
Accessing Discounts
To access these discounts, students typically need to show proof of their student status, such as a student ID [1:3]. Some users have reported receiving discounts simply by being present at the store with a student ID, even if they weren't purchasing for themselves
[4:1].
In summary, Apple offers several avenues for students to save on their products, both through ongoing discounts and seasonal promotions. Checking Apple's education site regularly and planning purchases around promotional periods can maximize savings.
is there a way to get discounts on apple products through mcgill?? if so how do i do this??
Go to Apple>For Education on their website and you should see discounted prices. IIRC, the discounted pricing should be year-round but the Back To School promo ends on Sep 29 (additional gifts or discounts).
i just showed them my student ID
No.
The only student deals Apple ever provides is their own student discount and their annual back to school promotion
Can someone explain what this apples promotion for uni students is, some people are saying it’s only free AirPods and others are mac books get discounted, when I go to Apple education website it seems like some items are always discounted for uni students.
They usually offer back to school promos at some time in January which has been free AirPods for the past few years. They have a discount of 10% for students all throughout the year but for back to school they add on a pair of free AirPods.
Last year it was January 18th that the promo started and it was free AirPods and you could choose to upgrade it to pros for additional cost.
Ah maybe I should’ve waited..
Thank you so much for this. Do you know how long this promotion will run for?
That's amazing. I'll definitely be looking into it if I decide to get a new ipad.
Apple has refreshed their student store recently and they have added some add ons for students who buy an Apple iPad and/or Mac. These options include:
- Apple Pencil Pro
- AirPods 4
- AirPods 4 (with noise cancelation) (you pay some)
- AirPods Pro 2 (you pay some)
- Magic Keyboard for iPad (you pay some)
- opt out of offer
They will give you 119-129 off of some of the products above.
These are the only options for iPad, different options are offered to Macs.
What the actual fuck.... I bought an ipad on student discount like 2 days back...
Return it and buy it again?
They don't do it in India
got several edu account dm me for more info.
You can check out as a guest and get the discount. I did that with my MacBook. The Apple Store saw me and assumed I was a student last time I was there to buy an iPad. They really don't check unless the person in store is militant. They gave my parents a discount just because I was in college when they were buying an iMac for their home office.
I will be moving to US this August for my PG. I am planning on getting the MacBook Air. Will I be able to get an offer at that time and also are they still giving out AirPods with educational offer?
I’m pretty sure it lasts until September.
They don’t give out AirPods anymore, at least not for the past 2 years. Now, you get a $150 USD Apple Store gift card/credit as well as 20% off apple care only if you purchase it at the same time you buy the MacBook. The gift card can be used on all apple stuff like in the App Store or towards anything u wanna buy online from apple (and probably at a physical Apple Store too), u can even use it to buy apple care. I still have my gift card sitting in my apple account from last year funding my iCloud and music subscription. But I could also use it to buy a case or towards another device or whatever….
They are giving out AirPods where I live but I do plan on getting it in US.
Quick doubt? AirPods pro cost 250 dollars, so is it possible to use the gift card of 150 dollars and pay extra 100 outside to get them?
Sorry if this seems dumb, I do not have a clue about how it actually works.
Yes totally. If you’re buying in the U.S. and you buy it before the promo is over, as I already said you can use the gift card towards anything and pay the difference
These are two separate things. the education discounts (your title) are all year round, whereas the bundle offers are during the back to school season. Not sure what the offer is for this year but you should definitely be able to catch it in August
I guess I will wait and see. Thanks for that.
So I'm looking at getting a macbook air, kinda cheeky but one of my best friends is a student, saw the discount and the free airpods and thought "If I get my friend to buy it as a student for me they can have the airpods and I save a few quid" I was going to get the base model myself, but with that model I don't mind paying about $500+ more for the extra ram and hard drive space
Is this A) illegal? B) Just a bit dodgy but whatever apple are worth like $500billion they dont care C) Not illegal but could cause issues
No, it isn’t illegal at all. Your friend is just buying it and then selling it to you. It is not illegal to sell a MacBook that you got at a student discount to someone that isn’t a student.
And yes, Apple has already factored this in with their pricing.
We went into the Apple store to buy my wife a new iMac. They didn’t have the one she wanted in stock so the rep told us to order it online. We are both very obviously not students.
The rep told us to make sure we use the student site to get a discount and the free airpods.
No evidence was ever provided and the discounts and airpods were both received
Only in the US. In the UK you need to prove that you are a student. I assume the OP is in the UK by his use of the word “quid”, but then confused by his saving Dollars 😀
I’m in Canada actually but yes I am a Brit originally
Just got back from buying a computer. I waited a few weeks until I got my student ID to go shop. At checkout time, I was ready to whip out my ID but they told me they don’t need it and sometimes Apple will ask for it but the salesman never witness such cases the entire time he worked there.
Edit: to clarify, when shopping at the Apple store specifically.
This is totally ethical. The discount is microscopic because they don't care if you're actually a student, they just want to say they have student discounts.
One of my old companies had a corporate discount with like Dell and HP. What do you know, only things that had a discounted price were the crazy overpriced shit or the $500 quality computer that was being priced at $800 instead of $1,000.
As a 40year old, they don't believe me
You can still be a student at 40. My dad didn't go to college until he was 52.
theu asked my dad what company he was working for just say like shell or some orger big one and you get like 20% off
If you work for a large company, you can also check to see if that company has a discount. I got 10% off and no tax because my company had an account.
that is fraud, isn't it?
I think you’re right so it might go better in IllegalLifeProtip
Anyone can get their student discount online, no questions asked. I don’t think they care whether you’re a student or not, they just want to make a sale.
I am aware that DLSU offers a student discount, but I am unsure if CSB does as well. If there is a student discount available for Apple products at CSB, could you please explain how to access it?
Rn they have a discount na 25% on select product so make sure you ask for that instead of the student one kasi afaik, 10% lang pag student discount
Where can I see the discounted products?
Slr. Search mo lang apple store benilde discount usually first link naman agad
Alam ko before may discount ata sa switch (when it was still inside sda) and the loop (I don't know if it's still there sa 12th floor) pero just recently, I tried asking about it sa switch in another branch, di sila familiar sa discount. They weren't even aware of the school itself.
Alumnus here.
Yes, we do. Just mention it when you buy an apple product (tho, they might ask for proof that you study in benilde) and it's only limited to some apple products. Also, there used to be a store inside SDA (12th flr, besides caf) but idk if it's open since I haven't been inside campus for a while
i've been having f2f classes sa SDA and it hasn't really been open. the space itself is open but it seems like it's now being used as a meeting place? i'm not sure basta may nakikita akong mga tao sa loob with presentations and stuff, no sign of apple products anywhere
ahhh yeah, even before it's used as a meeting/hangout spot. maybe it's temporarily closed bc of the pandemic, but you can try asking around incase they still sell products
[removed]
They reserve the right to do so
no
Search the sub for the answers to the 900 times this question has been asked
Nope, they don’t ask when you receive it either.
hi, anyone got Apple Care with student discount after purchased? I called to apple they said they only provide discount while your purchasing.
For people who are still interested in this question, the short answer is yes.
To be more specific, the device you want to purchase the AppleCare + for should be directly bought from Apple with student discount.
I just headed to an Apple Store early today. One specialist scanned the serial number of my new MBA with their sales device. The AppleCare+ with the student discount option was automatically shown on the screen. And sales device also recognize my gift card without any problems.
So the Apple‘s system definitely accepts this operation. And they have no reasons to stop you to do so. Because the customers always have the option to return their device and purchase again, which will bring additional cost to Apple. But they may somehow hide it so that some online specialists don't know how to make it happen.
Therefore, the safer way is heading to a local Apple Store and purchase the service asap after you received your student discount device.
Finally, I directly quote the footnote about the AppleCare+ student discount on Apple's online education store webpage below.
>The promotional Apple Education Pricing on AppleCare+ is available for eligible products purchased during the promotional period only. Apple offers Education Pricing on AppleCare+ at different rates from this promotional rate throughout the year on certain products if purchased within 60 days of your Apple Product; eligible products may vary outside of the promotional period. The promotional Apple Education Pricing on AppleCare+ cannot be combined with non-promotional Apple Education Pricing. For complete details regarding AppleCare+ coverage, see terms and conditions.
>
>This promotional AppleCare+ Education Pricing is applicable only to two-year paid upfront AppleCare+ for iPad and three-year paid upfront AppleCare+ for Mac and is not applicable to any recurring payment AppleCare+ plans.
>
>Apple Education Pricing is available to current and newly accepted university students and their parents, as well as teachers and staff at all levels. Quantity limits apply.
Fantastic write up! Thank you for investigating this so deeply! I really appreciate all your hard work! :)
Just chiming in with my experience - I was able to add Apple Care with the education discount after purchase, but Apple Support told me no, an Apple Store associate told me know, but she said she would ask someone else to make sure, and he said yes. So if you are in this situation, be persistent!
Bit of a necro post But got applecare put on my MacBook pro, was 4 months after purchase so had to go into apple to get it screened for apple care and then the sales representative scanned the serial number and checked student ID. 3 years apple care £219
Edit to add: the MacBook was not purchased through apple education store either. I purchased it from Currys
how much as a percentage did you get off?
I think it's only like 8%
Yes you can buy it after purchase. I think it’s within the first 30 or 60 days though.
I just called a Apple representative she said no you only can purchased with student discount while you purchasing devices.
I think you're correct in my experience. I opted to have it done at the Apple store just because I had the time. I'm pretty sure that discount can only be applied at point of sale
If your within the return dates just return it and buy it again. If not then rip
Ya only during purchase but get the monthly and then it lasts longer since it goes till you cancel.
and I found i cannot purchase apple care+ with Apple gift card.... website only accept credit card

Apple Education Pricing: Apple offers special pricing for students, teachers, and staff at educational institutions. This can provide significant savings on Macs and iPads.
Eligibility: To qualify, you typically need to verify your student status through a third-party service like UNiDAYS or by using your school email address.
Back-to-School Promotions: Apple often runs back-to-school promotions during the summer months, which may include additional discounts or free accessories (like AirPods) with the purchase of eligible products.
