TL;DR To customize notifications on KakaoTalk, you can adjust settings both within the app and through your phone's system settings. Use features like "silent messages" to manage group chat alerts without leaving the chat.
Managing Group Chat Notifications
If you're part of a very active group chat and want to stop receiving constant notifications, you can mute notifications for that specific chat. This can be done by holding down on the group chat icon and selecting notification options [3:1]. Additionally, within the KakaoTalk app settings, you can toggle "silent messages" to off, which helps in reducing the number of alerts without leaving the chat
[1:3].
Phone System Settings
For more control over notifications, you can also adjust settings through your phone's system settings. This involves accessing the app notification settings and turning off specific types of notifications or adjusting their appearance [1:5]. Some users have found success by disabling certain notification categories within the app settings themselves
[1:4].
Notification Appearance and Style
To change how notifications appear, such as adopting a style similar to another device (e.g., Note 10 Plus), you can navigate to Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style within the app [5:2]. For those using Samsung devices, tools like Theme Park from the Galaxy Store can further customize the notification bar's appearance
[5:5].
Troubleshooting Notification Issues
If you're experiencing issues with notifications not coming through, it might be due to the app being killed in memory. Ensuring the app is locked in the task manager can help keep notifications active in the background [4:1]. Additionally, checking for any battery optimization settings that might affect app performance can be beneficial
[4:2].
I know that the bell icon will deafen the SOUND of the notifications, but I don't want to receive them from this group chat at all (and I don't want to leave the chat)
I happen to be in a group chat that is very active. I don't dislike them, and thusly don't want to leave, I engage sometimes, it's just way too active for me to keep up with. There never aren't notifications. It's always the top most recent alert when I pull down the notification bar.
How can I
Not turn off all notifications
Not leave the chat
Not have it show up in my notification panel
all at the same time
You can turn it off in your phone settings then app notification settings
Under notification settings for KakaoTalk, just toggle "silent messages" to off
Hi, sorry I have the same issue and can’t find that setting. Is it under the KakaoTalk app settings in the iPhone Settings menu, or within the app? I can’t find “silent messages” anywhere. Thanks!!
Life saver man, thanks a lot!
works 100%
It worked! Thank you
I know this is a year old, but I've been dealing with this for months now and thought there was no solution. Thank you so much for this, it worked for me and I'm so happy to not receive 100 notifications a day from group chats. KakaoTalk needs to learn what "muted" means 🤣
The only notification settings specifications that I can individually turn off are:
전체 메시지 검색 (for some reason this one is in Korean)
Clipboard
Talk Drive
General
Boards
Music
Playback
Calls
New Message
Silent Messages
Which one would it be

hello friends, I have not been able to log in to my account for two days and I receive such notification, what should I do?
Hope I'm writing on time, but you should turn of notifications on each group... You can do it by holding a finger on its icon^_^ and also I recommend to not having a a full notification premissions for kakao since it can spam you so easily...
I use my Bigme Hibreak Pro as my everyday phone, but I've noticed that messages and calls via Kakaotalk often don't come through. If I open the app, then I receive all of the things missed at once upon launch.
I have all permissions enabled for the app, and all notifications enabled in both the app and system settings. There are no app specific battery optimisations on.
An acquaintance mentioned he thinks it's because it's Chinese and the app is banned there. But I would presume that would be DNS level blocking, like we do here in Australia? In which case I presume that would not route through there once my own SIM went in.
Does anyone else know how to fix this? I love this phone but everyone else I know that uses this app wants me to stop using it.
I would think it has more to do with the app being killed in memory. See if stopping duraspeed (or adding the app to whitelist will help.) adb shell settings put global duraspeed_enabled 0
Where is that option to disable Duraspeed?
Currently, there's no way to fix it completely. However, you can lock the app on task manager so it can keep getting notifications on the background.

Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style
I mean the one in Pic if possible can it be changed to the note 10 plus notification style where u click it and it allows u to also disable sound and vibration
Tap the Settings
How did you get a transparent notifi bar
Used theme park in galaxy store
Im on a Samsung galaxy a15, and ive tried the usual Manage notification categories for each app and its not working, i click on notifications then sounds and no little plus pops up to allow me to use my own custom sounds, idk if im missing a setting, or just slow. but i cant figure it out and its frustrating
Try this:
Your custom sound must be stored in the Notifications folder.
Then tap your profile icon, tap Messages settings, tap Notifications, tap Notification categories, tap Incoming messages (not the toggle, just tap on Incoming messages).
Tap Sound, select your sound
any way to change it based on person, rather than app? two months ago I could set every person. now, I can set the app itself to have a noise, and I can set a person's ringtone, but it doesn't give me the option to set a person's notification any more. as someone who suffers from a great deal of anxiety, having that back would be awesome, because it almost makes me cry every time I get a text and realize three hours later when I check it that it was my mom and I should have looked at it right away ><
You should be able to do that..
It's a bit convoluted..
Open messages, tap on the icon of the sender (not the message, tap their profile picture next to the message). Then tap the ⓘ symbol.
Then tap notifications, tap sound, and change it to something that is different from the system default for that person
You can do the same thing in other messaging apps besides Google Messages, but they all need to be set individually for every contact that you want a different sound for from within the various apps settings.
Ignore the instructions in my earlier reply, I misunderstood what you were actually trying to do
We're making additional formatting changes to ordinary notifications 😮
We're also adding emojis to differentiate each notification concept ✨
Stay tuned, soon in beta! 😀
So I moved to the states from Korea. Downloaded KakaoTalk on my new phone and got into my old account and everything seemed to be fine. But now KakaoTalk will just not load any new messages I receive. I get the notification and I can see what they said in the notification, but when I open the chat it’s like they sent nothing at all. Happening for all my chats.
If I have the chat room open and get a message than I can see them. Any ideas what is causing this?
Having the same issues here in Canada. No clue what’s causing it but I’m worried ill lose all my chat history/photo/attachments if I delete the app and reinstall it. Has anyone found a solution?
Ok so someone told me it could be due to low storage space?
I can see that being a valid reason for sure, but my phone isn't even half full and this still doesn't rectify the fact that it works fine if i have the chat open.
seems impossible to find out any kind of fix for this and its so frustrating.
Hi I have this problem too, I think it's because if you switch your sim card. I'm currently in Spain and saw a message but my Kakao account is made with a US phone number, so for this reason I think I'm unable to see it

Individual app ke notifications off karne ka function boht pehle aa chuka tha aur log use bhi karte hain.

Just imagine doing something on your phone at work with someone else taking a look at something and Bumble notification popping up, isliye a lot of people turn them off.
